  • 2010 Nadal at the US Open was peak Rafa his entire game was the best it’s ever been from the serve, forehand, backhand, and movement. Especially in these last two sets

  • Nadal was not losing the US Open in 2010 against anyone, he was serving like a mixture of peak Sampras/peak Roddick and he was hitting his groundstrokes as well as I'd ever seen from him on a hard court, he only lost serve 5 times that whole tournament. Had it not been for the 2 hour rain delay during the 2nd set, Nadal would have most likely won this final in straight sets instead of 4 sets. The rain delay allowed Djokovic to regroup for a few games to win the 2nd set but once he lost his serve early in the 3rd set, it was pretty straightforward for Nadal from that point on.

  • Rafa is matching djoker toe to toe in terms of movements. It’s crazy how much physically Rafa has diminished and how much physically Nole has remained the same. Probably Rafa cannot rely on shot making alone to beat Nole on hard court. He needs his speed and defense and that’s why he has never taken a set off Nole since 2014

  • When they were young, fresh, peak/prime, Rafa was the better player. All the statistics prove my point. As soon as they started to age, Djokovic took advantage and improved all his stats. Nadal is definitely greater than Djokovic, he never needed circumstances to help him, and he was the one who compete with Peak Federer. Djokovic was always 3rd.

  • As Djokovic fan, It was a miracle that Djokovic even reached the finals of the US Open 2010 after the horrible years 2009-2010 and the fact the Novak almost lost in the 1st round against Troicki + the match points saved against Roger. Nadal was the better player in this tournament and he fully deserved the win against 2010 Djokovic. But imo the only thing keeping the Djokovic - Nadal rivalry alive is the US Open 2013 win for the Spaniard and the fact that they met so many times on clay. After this USO match, outside clay it's a one way trafic for Djokovic (15 - 3). This being said, Nadal still definitely is top 3 of all times and is a fantastic player.

WOOOW and nadal should be the GOAT; BEFORE 2011 even claydal could win grandslams on grass in the weak era inthe 2000s. THE STRONG ERA from 2011-2016 shows that claydal won only 1 grandslam outside from clay.

  • 2008 and2010 was extreme weak years in tennis that even baby weak djokovic without fittness was better then prime federer in 2008

    @travisbickle5279@travisbickle52794 ай бұрын
    • 2010 was relatively weak amid that golden period in tennis yes, but you play who’s in front of you and everyone’s benefited from that type of year at some point. 08 absolutely not and you’re doing Novak a total disservice calling his 08 version weak. I seriously think a lot of your own fanbase sleeps on 07/08 Novak tremendously, he only went through a bit of a rough patch most of 09/10 but the dude was legitimately prodigal in his age 20 and 21 seasons in 07 and 08. The only reason those years get downplayed among early aged greats is bc his contemporary Nadal was an even quicker starter early in his career by comparison. 08 literally has one of his most clean, dominant AO wins of all time among the 10 titles and that year start to finish aside from Wimbledon, he was legitimately awesome w the M1000 wins in Indian wells and Rome (great clay season overall where he played that amazing Hamburg match with Rafa and was already showing he’d become Nadal’s toughest challenge on clay) and then topped it off w his 1st YEC win. The years had their ups and downs ofc and he hadn’t quite found the balance in his game the way he would 2011 on, but for the standards of players at that age, 07/08 Novak was excellent by any metric.

Sorry history books dont lies only fedal fans lies, i mean everybody who doesnt see that life in the moon. • @@travisbickle5279 And I never said he was in his prime (most that age aren’t), but discounting him as weak in 07 and 08 is completely disingenuous. Just bc you’re not in your prime doesn’t mean he didn’t play incredibly well those AO 08 and Miami/Montreal 07 runs or during matches like Hamburg and Beijing Olympics semis. From a consistency and maturity standpoint yes, he was not there yet but step back and compare him as a number 3 in those 2 years to other number 3s throughout the course of tennis history and he stands up against most of them. You make it seem like him keeping pace with Federer in 08 is an indictment on Federer being some fraud and I would argue if anything, that shows how worthy an adversary djokovic still was in those years because it’s Roger freaking Federer he was keeping pace with in a year his major results were SF F F W and still racked up 66 wins and won at a >80% clip on the year.
