Great video! I'm from Corfu in Greece and I have a soft spot for Naples because it was founded by Greek settlers in ancient times (its name means "new city"). I haven't been there but I have met many tourists here from all parts of Italy (including Naples), and apparently the people of Naples and the wider region are very unhappy about how they are treated by the central Italian government (like a colony...) People from Naples told me that it used to be the richest city in Italy before the unification.
That is why we were chanting "Vesuvio erutta tutta Napoli è distrutta" thats what they always used to chant against us it means "Vesuvius erupt! All of Napoli destroyed" we are so autoironic we chant it ourself for trolling them all
And that's the reason why us neapolitans are so passioned about football. It's just more that winning matches, it's a political and social revenge. And that's why Maradona is still so loved here, because he brought Napoli at the top of the world.

@@camielkors7246 Naples is not perfect, sometimes Ultras get violent (usually only when provoked) and there is a bit of petty crimes, but is totally not a "dangerous zone" for tourists like some media paint it. The historical center is pretty safe, it's extremely rare that tourists experience crime, crime statistics say that it's less common to be robbed in Naples than in Rome, Milan and other european big cities (where stabbings happen too). It's only the perception that is different, because italian media only shows bad news from Naples and conveniently ignore bad news from Rome and northern cities.

Great video my friend. I live in Calabria, Italy and the stereotype of excessive crime in the south is extremely exaggerated and is a narrative that even North Italy throws out there at times. I’m glad you enjoyed your trip to a southern Italian region. For future reference, July-August are the best times of the year in south Italy to visit. You won’t regret it. :)

I was told the same about Naples years ago by some of my Italian friends that live in Bologna that they won't go to Naples because it's dangerous and so forth. I'm from America and wanted to visit Naples where my heritage hails from and from the time I spent a little in Naples and the surrounding areas, I felt right at home. Everyone should go to Naples, it's fantastic and right in your face. When you're in Naples you're not far from the Amalfi coast. The passion there in Naples in amazing.

People from the North Italy they do usually like to think that Napoli is Hell, but as per the official statistics posted by the Minister every yar there are much less crime in Naples than city like Milan or Rome. Naples probably took its bad name especially after the 2nd world war. The city became very, very poor because it was the first one to free itself from Nazi-fascism, while Northern Italy was still fascist During that time Naples was basically left to itself , wihtout any governments. And it was the most heavily bombed and damaged city. of Italy. The American lieutenants did not manage the city at all and the Neapolitans had to "make do" (we say "arrangiarsi"). It was then that a black market was created and criminal organizations arised. We must also say that, partly for reasons of cultural rivalry, Naples is not very sympathetic to the Italian Mass Media, especially the ones located in the North. So the negative events that happen in Naples always got a lot of relevance and visibility on national newspapers and news.That's why the bad name still nowdays maybe.

Unfortunately you sold a lot of good players this summer, but I imagine being an Ajax fan is a lot about getting past these cycles, you just went through one of the best generations with its peak when you almost got to the CL final, the good thing is it's not going to take so long until you get back on your feet since your academy is an example for all Europe, so don't worry about a thing cause every little thing is gonna be alright ❌❌❌

As painful as it is for me and my Ajax, it is nice to see some of these underdog stories. Napoli is of course known for being really good but very, very few people would’ve expected them to be first place in Serie A and UCL. Also congrats to our southern neighbours from Brugge. Would’ve expected them to cause more chaos than most people would’ve assumed but already qualifying after just 4 games is ridiculous for a Belgian side. Matches like Maccabi Haifa beating Juventus, Dinamo Zagreb beating Chelsea make this a really interesting UCL.
...first time I went to Napoli, five years ago I was expecting to get into a Far West city, with people shooting crazily around and having to watch my back and my side continuously......and instead I found - as you did - plenty of nice, kind welcoming people....Been there 4 more times and I must say that I love that town....it is dirty, it is chaotic but it has a soul....
