  • I thank Coach Prime for showing JSU and the entirety of HBCUs what is possible. He achieved more in 3 yrs at JSU than many coaches do in 10 or more. Perfect season - 1st time ever. College GameDay at JSU - 1st time ever. GMA appearance. New facilities, new practice field, and more people talking about HBCUs than I've seen in quite a while. This was never about him becoming an HBCU coach til he retires. He blessed us with showing just what's possible.

People forget how many things he's done that no one else has done. He played in 2 MLB playoff games ( ATL Braves ) and played in a NFL game ( ATL Falcons) in a 24 hour period ‼️ One of the greatest collegiate Coaches ever Bobby Bowden referred to him as the greatest athlete he ever Coached . And Prime won't have time for players with egos only kids who come to work hard . That do it the right way . Time for the Buffs to return to National relevance and he will be bringing back all the legacy players and NFL HOF'ers to speak to your kids .

I can understand being a bit let down with CP departure .... it's almost like he was a teacher that comes around once in a lifetime at which point you have to enjoy the moment(s) of his greatness. I think that he showed the SWAC how great a conference it is....and he did this by thinking outside of the box.... it's almost like if he'd stayed at JSU he would of benefited that institution with wins...but the frame work that he provided for modern day media coverage and corporate sponsorships should leave a lot of clues for JSU and the SWAC moving forward.

There are HBCUs that are thriving because of great leadership and infrastructure. Spelman, Morehouse, Howard, NC A&T, FAMU and more. Too many HBCU leaders have zero clue on how to grow and also raise money, and it all points to leadership.

  • If y’all wanna talk about it, let’s talk about it. Prime got robbed twice in his first couple of months at JSU. He had to donate to the program to get basic stuff. He had to negotiate corporate sponsorships for other basic stuff. There were multiple instances where his team didn’t have WATER or ICE and he had to put his team in HOTELS IN JACKSON, just to they could have water. There was even a time when he was bathing in a hotel pool due to lack of water. Then he had to plead for the mayor of Jackson & the Governor of Miss. to put their disagreements aside to help the city of Jackson. THESE ARE 3RD WORLD CONDITIONS. The Governor of Miss. should feel embarrassed by these things happening in the state’s capital. In spite of all that, he won back to back SWAC titles, and brought College Gameday to an HBCU for the first time in more than a decade.

Mike Tomlin has been leading the Pittsburgh Steelers for over 15yrs and these reporters *still call out “Mike.” How many MORE years does the man have to be in the position to be recognized and acknowledged as THE Coach of the team, meanwhile, imagine hearing “Andy, what happened to the defense” in Kansas City and “Bill, why didn’t you” in New England. The disrespect is neverending. He could just stand there and ignore them until they get it and realize he’s not Mike but I guess that would take too long and he wants to eventually go home.

    • Only sensible comment here. My heart hrts for the young men too. Nobody else seems to care about them. People so use to coaches doing this but all those other coaches were JUST coaching football. Deion was doing much much more than just football. He was mentoring them for off the field too. That's more important imo.

He preached all week to his team about focusing and finish well guess what that's the complete opposite of what Deion did. You slice it up all you want but that's the cold hard facts. When you have to try to talk your team out of transferring and the big recruits that you sold on culture and not needing to go to a big name school with money and recourses and you leave for that very reason you look like a hypocrite. I love Deion but Prime didn't finish what he started and that's the truth.

He left an awesome legacy and an awesome challenge for the next JSU HC, but he gave the school and HBCUs a lot. We are grateful and we wish Coach Prime the best. What an awesome welcome. Then when they walked into the Stadium and his face on the jumbo screen, just too much my eyes teared up again. It's crazy also to see Deon walking with a limp.
