    • Man o man, those are some nice chunks y'all are pulling in. We've got some monsters up here in Guntersville Lake. Biggest I've had the pleasure to hook into with was a 6 lb, but there's some major hawgs pulled outta there all the time. When the big boys come fish Wheeler & Wilson out of Decatur, they blast out to G'ville to fish the tourney.

  • I can see that goldfish as being irresistible to bass. As a kid I rigged a large shiner I'd caught from the bank of our local reservoir and watched as an enormous bass ate that shiner and snapped that puny 8 lb. line like it was a spider's web. The bass took that shiner in its open mouth sideways with room to spare. At one end of the 'Rez', as we called it, a dead fall of windblown leaves have made a natural mulch of rich soil over decades. Underneath, as we discovered by accident, were the fattest red wiggler worms any of us had ever seen. We were no older than ten years old and couldn't really comprehend what we had. Inexplicably, we just dropped the idea of fishing there in favor of catching trout in the creek a couple of miles away. We would drop a wriggling worm under the outstretched branches of trees hanging over the water and watch as dozens of bass of varying sizes would zero-in on the worm. They may still be there, more than fifty years later, for all that I know. The 'Rez' was the secondary holding pond for the local water company and while we were never run-off of the property we knew that it was loosely forbidden to go there. I believe that the water company didn't want to have to deal with kids falling in as kids are want to do. What a place.

  • Pond fish should not count for state records it should be public water only I mean how is it fair that the owners feed these fish 10 times a day in a pond and grow humongous and then nobody can try to catch them and then get a state record , just my two cents

    @johnburton8601@johnburton86015 жыл бұрын
    • John Burton you can’t feed train a bass so how are these lake feeding their fish ten times a day?

      @TheHillbillyHybrid@TheHillbillyHybrid5 жыл бұрын
    • Its kind of ironic, but in Cali, the biggest fish are produced in public waters which get hammered hard. This keeps the population of fish down, so that a select few can get huge. Also, its the places that get fished the most, where its feasible to stock them with hatchery trout. Private ponds around here produce lots of good fish, in the 4 to 8 lb range, but if you want true giants, you need to fish places which are heavily stocked, and fished hard to keep overall numbers down. I used to sneak onto private ponds as a young guy. The biggest bass I ever caught from those ponds was about 6 lbs. Caught 89 of them from 10 to 18.4 lbs, all on public waters.
