    • Utter bollocks,City v Liverpool at the moment is of a far higher standard then anything Utd & Arsenal served up. The speed,the intensity,the entertainment,the ferocity is on a different planet to Arsenal v Utd games(a lot of which flattered to deceive or were 1 sided) Look at City and Liverpool,consistently making it to the latter stages of the CL,Utd from '97-2004 made 1 final and mostly went out in the quarters.

      @rivolinho@rivolinho4 жыл бұрын
    • @@rivolinho True, too much player power now with the obscene money they are paid. If you are getting like £300k a week it kind of takes the winning hunger away. The reason United are not winning is Fergie isn't there anymore. He instilled that winning mentality and Keane demanded the same as a player which made the other players die for the club and not winning a game was unacceptable. Liverpool have that in their manager at the moment. It's not necessarily about how good the players are but their desire to win and that is proved by leicester city winning the league. Pogba would not be at the club if Fergie was still manage, simple.

      @beachlife2968@beachlife29684 жыл бұрын
    • @@beachlife2968 Yeah but it's more than just players and manager selections. The culture has changed completely since Keane was playing. Players used to feel lucky to be footballers and were worried about staying in football as long as possible. Now they are more powerful than the managers and they're set for life before they're 21. Why would you break your back in that situation. Turn up, give 70% effort, collect your fortune, move to another club for big fee, rinse repeat.

      @rivolinho@rivolinho4 жыл бұрын
    • @@rivolinho There is a quick turn around of managers if they don't get quick results instead of them being given time, that's one problem. Another problem is if a strict manager comes in then the players simply put less effort in to get him sacked. They want a weak manager so they can do what they want but what you want is not what you need. I can't see this changing anytime soon because of the player power. It's normal now for just average players to go for around £50m and ultimately it's the fans that are paying for this madness.

  • I enjoyed the interview, I must say. Man Utd had some very talented players (Ronaldo, Kanchelskis, Cantona, Van Nistelrooy, Giggs and Scholes) and some fit, talented, unbelievably competitive players, with great characters (Keane, Paul Ince, Bruce, Pallister, Vidic, Schmeichel, Butt, Beckham, Neville, Solksjear, Stam...)... and don't forget Clayton Blackmore!!! Ferguson would, shall we say, "lean" on the refs, though, and he had a lot of allies (ex-players, or just allies) who were managers at the time - McLeish, Bruce, Hughes, Robson among others. Guys like Martinez and Moyes wouldn't really oppose Sir Alex, although he was a Great Manager, no doubt.

  • People don't realise just how good Roy was. Not just with his feet but with his words as well. When the chips are down you need someone like Roy to pull you up and get the team through. We talk about the winning mentality of SAF and how the team never backed down and getting late goals and all that and I think one of the most crucial aspects of that was Roy Keane.
