    • I wondered how far you would get before you realized the chain wasn't reeved . You can use alum and hydrogen peroxide to eat the steel bolt and not hurt the cast aluminum housing . You also need to load test it to 125 % before you think of selling it and you need to fix the safety latch on the load hook and suspension hook . Also I would suggest not using off the shelf fasteners for your hook / chain bolt , suggest you order OEM fasteners for anything load bearing ( don't accept the liability ) . You fixed it now all the liability is on you if something breaks and someone crushes a hand or head .

  • The electrics contains a printed circuit board that is FR4 fiberglass and with CADCAM drawn tracks & silkscreen parts layout which that would say the machine is a bit younger.... Even the screw terminal block is modern plastic derivative. For something from the late 60s they'd have used stuff like phenolic and good old big mechanical relays to do the switch control...

  • What could've been used was the MC51 rust remover; it's great stuff for all ancient contraptions, and this includes a nickel plating solution It's understandable that there was no owners manual, to be handling this machine. Try to think of the success we had, when we revamped it. It's true that we had; a lot of parts to reassemble, for this ancient working crane. Make no mistake about it. 💪 👷‍♀️ 👷‍♂️

  • I’ve built and modified a few of these Kito chain hoists before (admittedly new ones, and slightly used ones, I worked for the Australian distributors of the Kito brand) They are a great little unit, main buyers were small garages and manufacturing centers, and our wind farm industry. Can confirm they come in 220 and 110 volt. Also agree that for sale you should test to 125% working load limit. Chain for these is originally nickel plated load chain, so if it’s in that bad of exterior condition, I would have replaced it. Finally, as a few others have said, the clutch assembly is set in the factory to very specific specifications, so wouldn’t have touched it for fear of slipping and missetting. Good job all things considered, but please don’t lift to maximum capacity without maximum safety precautions.

With this I suggest you buy a kit for the detection of lead in the paint, and if necessary, wear a mask for yourself and those who work with you to avoid breathing dust and fumes derived from lead that are carcinogenic to say the least. • I work for a company that makes hoist like this one and many others the one he restored is only rated at 250 lbs they do move that fast due to the moter used it is a 110 or 120 volt brushed moter. Its not very fast we have some that will do over 60 feet per min. It dose need to be load tested again and recertified due to being disassembled. The hooks both need the latch kits put back on there not hard to order online and the hook bolt is very wrong making this dangerous. It is also missing the chain container that all that extra chain is ment to be in to stop crossing over and load shocks. Also an easy thing to get online. Other than that I would say an altogether solid restore keep up the good work.
