  • Frazier was just built the wrong way to fight a guy like Foreman. Frazier was all about the left hook, and that punch took him all the way to the heavyweight title. But he needed to get close to land it, and Foreman simply pushed him away whenever Frazier got in firing range. Unable to mount a serious offense, Frazier became a sitting duck for Big George who used him like a punching bag.

    • At the time, Ali stated how he would beat Foreman and proceeded to do exactly what he said he would . Punchers usually do poorly against boxers and Foreman had many other deficits …against a pressure fighter like Frazier, shorter, smaller and a slow starter , Foreman feasted by never letting Frazier get close enough to land the left hook

    • The loose ropes in Zaire were also an underhanded way of tilting the fight in favor of Ali. Had it been held in more regular circumstances in MSG or somewhere similar, Ali’s career would have ended that night.

      @mebsrea@mebsreaАй бұрын
    • @@mebsrea laughable…Foreman never had a chance against Ali .Ali had a great chin and Foreman ‘s pushing and wrestling tactics didn’t work against Ali who was about his size. I still find it a very underrated feat, Tommy Morrison’s game plan in 1993 against Foreman, proving Tommy was a skilled boxer. Only saw Muhammad Ali, Evander Holyfield and Jimmy Young outboxing Foreman in Foreman’s almost 30 y spanning ring career, besides Tommy. But they absorbed a lot of punishment in the process.
