Gta online won't be dead, gta6 online will be just like 4's current state and the first few years of 5 ie little to no content besides some races and mostly pvp. You won't have any of the mass of content like you do in the current GTAO. The tryhard pvpers will try switching to 6 but soon switch back to 5 because they can't survive straight up pvp and won't have the easy kill guns like explosive mk2 sniper with thermals rendering glitch.
Even the older games doesn't make it worth it, buy the games on sale or buy a used disc for less than 1 month subscription $100 a year for $40 Max of games doesn't make sense.
I'd be disappointed if they make GTA+ a requirement to play GTA 6. Personally, I haven't bought GTA+. I've brought GTA 5 5X already. I don't like paying more than I have to.
If they made it a requirement, but have the quality and consumer friendliness of FF14, I'd be totally down for it. I'm pro Subscription as long as they don't screw players over like ESO did back when THAT was Sub only.

Last night when I checked my subscription’s on Xbox for GTA+ it still said $7.99 CAD for the next charge which was always the case. So idk if it just hasn’t updated the price increase for me yet. I seen someone comment that for Canadian’s the new pricing should be $10.99 so I guess I’ll check it again after the next charge too see if it updated then. Btw, the main reason why I have GTA+ is cause I like to get the exclusive clothing, otherwise I wouldn’t recommend it especially for veteran players.

I believe it will get worse with these monthly subscription services and it will be better if they would just disappear forever. However I also believe people gets what they deserve, like the ever so common release of broken, unfinished games just cause people kept pre-ordering or blindly buying stuff at day one. A lot of us said since the beginning it was a very bad habit, but dumb dumbs kept doing it anyways, now they cry that almost every game needs patches to be playable. Same happened with lootboxes. We were lucky with those cause they were a legal problem (yet they have not been completely removed). If people keeps paying real money for subscriptions like GTA+ or battlepass no matter what, what do you really think will happen? Of course they will try to milk it to oblivion. To be clear I don't mind if it gives to you some cosmetics and other "useless" things, it's your money, spend it as you please. But are you noticing they are constantly raising the bar on what type of content you obtain in game and, of course, on the price you pay for it?
Summarized impeccably. Subscriptions like this will escalate and are starting to escalate to be pay to win. This coupled with the normalizing of not owning your purchases but rather having a license to play it is making me extremely concerned with the entire gaming industry.

I am super salty about not getting them new paintjobs, but to get cheated out of money (new console, new game copy, some bs service that is tacked onto you console service fees so you could have some faster cars and fancy paint) for until GTA 6 drops.... If it ever would come to PC, I would pay for 1 month to get that garage space and that is it.

As far as I know, this price increase was only for Xbox and not for PlayStation, however I could be wrong and the price change could be for both but I've only seen the increase on Xbox.

The risk is exactly this. That they will push it too far. If GTA+ will continue to give you only cosmetics and minor things it's fine. But, right now, they are trying to understand how much they can pull the rope. The evidence is on the last newswire about the upcoming summer dlc for GTA V, notice how they communicated only the GTA+ related benefits and how many there are than previous releases. It's a test, to see how many people are willing to subscribe if they add more and more content.

I think that they could do 2 different subscriptions, the GTA+ and the Rockstar+, the GTA+ would be just the gta online bonuses and be at the old price, the Rockstar+ would include the GTA+ and give the games (what it is now), so that way who just want the online bonuses get the GTA+ and who want the games as well the bonuses in online get the Rockstar+, and the GTA+ would be at the 5,99 and the Rockstar+ be as os right now the 7,99 but id say 9,99 or 10,99 would be the case
When they were adding new benefits, already knew they would increase the price, but I think they shouldve made the 6 bucks into a “legacy” price, for those who were already subscribed prior to the price change. This couldve also incentivized more people to buy in. But at the same time, it is just a 2 dollar increase. Sucks that I couldve had something nice, and not expensive for just under 7 dollars

I don’t like the price increase. I know it’s mostly innocent now and not all that big of a deal but it just seems like a step in the wrong direction. Subscription services are stupid. The gta 5 shark card model already yields so much profit. Just have games be priced appropriately, and if a subscription service is absolutely necessary just keep it cheap with pedestrian rewards like access to old skins / access to new skins 1 week in advance, and maybe free ghost org/ cops blind eye. Make the rewards higher and the cost higher, it seems to trickle to far towards pay-to-win. But, with having access to previous titles I suppose that’s a positive game changer. I could be off on all this and I admit there’s a possiblity this is over dramatic, but for now it’s just a feeling I have towards rockstar as of yet.
I think some other game franchise will be my main when I retire GTA V. I wasn't on the fence about getting GTA 6 until hearing about this.

Rockstar was in the UK going to the British national court talking about GTA 6 at the time for a charging fee per hour up to £30 per hour in the game you have to pay in real money as a stripping cos Rockstar how many hours is in GTA 6

Over the YEARS, I've paid for GTA5 on 3 different consoles a total of 4 times. My disk wore out on PS4 so I bought the digital version. I also paid for the PS3 and PS5 digital versions. I never subscribed to GTA+ because I could tell immediately that it wasn't worth a recurring monthly charge. Yeah, there's more perks to it nowadays but as far as I'm concerned, Rockstar got more than enough money from me already. For a LONG time it was the only game I ever played but now, I haven't played the game in almost 2 years and at this point I'm not even sure I'm interested in GTA6 at all.

I guess Rockstar didn't realize that it's *ILLEGAL* to not let their subscribers know in advance about a price increase. Subscription service laws state that the service provider is required to give notice separately about any price changes.

I just want Rockstar undo unexpected unnecessary removing +200 vehicles removes on website and Rockstar editor on EV platforms. The few things they should removes was gang attack instead because nobody doing it, old rockstar created content races, capture, and LTS from 2013-2015
