    • so many of these analysts are homers and so their bias can be pretty obvious. Last i checked the goal of hockey is to put the puck into the net using a stick, and its up to the player how they choose to shoot the puck as long as they don't throw or kick it in or deflect it above the crossbar. Doesnt matter how classless or disrespectful it was, he made a legal play slapshotting into an empty net so the league shouldn't be taking any of that into consideration. Reilly made a very dangerous hit to a player after the whistle when the extent of retaliation is in regards to a legal play of trying to score an empty net goal. Reilly should be getting a lengthy suspension for this.

  • While I understand the popular viewpoint that the slapshot was “classless”, I also think it was just excitement from a player on a team at the literal BOTTOM of the standings. It’s David vs Goliath, I don’t mind David really sticking the knife in with gusto. It was a one goal game, we’ve seen the leafs come back from multi-goal deficits many times to tie it up or win it. It must have been a huge relief to get that empty netter, I don’t think it was some super snarky act like people are making it out to be. Reilly’s hit to the neck, however, was the pure emotional reaction of a sore loser.
