Only one could stop Novak 🤨🤨 and that was alcaraz and Wimbledon. But this time it didn't work my genius young Alcaraz because Novak despite his age plays👽👽👽👽INTERGALACTIC like an ALİEN and is a PHENOMENON. This guy is a true warrior. I used to believe in 2009 Nadal is the only guy with such a mentality. Djokovic has beaten all odds, he wasn't supposed to surpass federer and Nadal. There is a difference between being a legend (Djokovic) and an upcoming talent (Alcaraz). While Alcaraz is showing all signs of becoming a great, he needs to really have the longevity that Djokovic has shown over the years, the ability to stay injury free and to have that hunger to excel even at 36. Can't be a rivalry ( in my opinion ). Novak is 16 years older. His real rivals were Federer, Nadal and perhaps Murray. Yes, for tennis it's good to have these amazing players and say - it would be a great rivalry, but one is at the end of his career and the other is at the beginning. It's a pity that Alcaraz won't have a decent opponent when Nole retires.

By winning Cincinnati Nole just won the US Open lMHO. I don't think Alcazar is mentally tough to recover from this loss and reach finals at the Open. It's incredible that Serbian beast was a set down and a break down in 2nd set as well as exhausted by the heat and yet he managed to overturn the score against the 16 years younger opponent. And all of that after loosing he's last match at the Wimbledon to him while he was one set up. What a f legend! What a mental Gigatron!

That's a nice point despite only 5 matches played, a bit early to call though but I get your point. The big 3 timeline of tennis is so intricately intertwined and expansive that it's easy to forget just how many chapters there were for each player in each of their matchups throughout their careers. Even if it is losses that might look dominant on a given surface, it just doesn't paint the picture of what a near 15 year all out gladiatorial battle there was on every surface. However tennis fans all over from whatever side of the GOAT conversation should be in absolute awe of Alcaraz. Honestly and truly we have waited since 2008 (at which point the 'Big 4' were established as the sure as ever mainstays of the competition for the following decade) for anyone borne from the 'big 4' ilk to rise to the top (with the much deserved appreciation of Wawrinka who's peak form equally deserves appreciation in this era)
Absolutely insane.
On one hand it would be nice for someone else to reach this level and beat them at the US Open. On the other hand we all want to see them play again in the USO final.
The few years zzDjokovic had left, I want him to win all.! Alcaras plays like a beast. Who will beat him after Djokovic has retired? Tennis can become boring if Alcaras beats everybody.!

Amazing amazing match. We are so blessed that just as the big 3 era was winding down, along came alcaraz to keep the tension and intensity going in the ATP tour. It speaks volumes regarding nole's fitness and skill that he's still so good at age 36
Although it was just one set, you could easily make a 10 minute highlights video. There are still a lot of epic points missing. Like when Carlitos surprised Djokovic with Rogers sneak attack tactic and followed it up by a brilliant volley. Or like someone mentioned the 6th point of the tie break. The list goes on..

There was one match at the Nitto ATP finals in 2020 between Djokovic and Thiem that ended 7:5, 6:7,7:6 for Thiem. Thiem and Djokovic on there absolute peak level produced highlight after highlight. Truly amazing that Alcaraz was returning and saving points on shots that most of us assume, "there's no way he's getting to those angles"...and he did it time after time. And still Djokovic outlasted him, mainly because he was constantly on the attack, moving Carlos left to right, relentless in dictating the pace and placement, the only way to beat Alcaraz. Any other player besides these two would feel good just competing well, even if they lost. This match was so special because they were elevating each other on every shot.
The King Vs The Prince and future King. No need to hate each others in here. We're blessed to watch such greatness for free, and many were afraid tennis wouldn't be the same after the Big3 but... Reality-check: Carlos has arrived, and he's just started 👌
Djokovic went above and beyond in this one. I know Alcaraz isn't up to peak Fed or Nadal level yet but in the context of their relative ages and the court conditions this was as much of a challenge as some of his victories against those two. Credit to Alcaraz too. He fights to the death with humility and a smile on his face. The future is in good hands.
Bro this Alcaraz would beat Federer…
@savapantic8735 So by your logic peak Fed was about the level of Sinner? Yeah OK. Alcaraz is a generational talent on the road to being an all time great but peak Fed? Come back in a few years and then we can talk. By the way, Carlos just lost to a 36 year old suffering from heat stroke.
Why can't Djokovic win a epic match, when the other player is definitely on top, without not taking a 7 minute toilet brake and bringing in his physio and doctor on court, to so everything down to his pace.
