  • Love the back scratcher trick. I will be getting my new puppy in 5 weeks. I am 72 years old with significant arthritis. Getting up and down from the floor to do the training that I have seen you do is not really going to be possible for me. Nor would running outside like I have seen some of your videos. I don't know if the demand would be enough to warrant the investment, but I would love to see a training video geared toward puppy owners who are mobility challenged. Nevertheless, I am learning so much from McCann Dogs! Thank you.

    • I have a 6 month old border collie and used this channel and it’s worked really well ! The videos are invaluable. You will most certainly have moments / days of frustration but keep consistent and it will pay off . Remember to train an off switch !

  • Omg thank you for this. I have a toy poodle and was going crazy because I couldn’t find videos with smaller puppies and the training methods with walking didn’t work.

  • I'm getting my first small dog in 3 weeks and this is all such great advice. I've had medium and large dogs but have never had such a small puppy (she'll probably be like 5 lbs) and the telescoping hand reward is so smart

  • Thank you for all your training videos. I've noticed you ware a lot of blue clothes when training dogs/puppies. Is this because dogs see blues and yellows better?

  • I moved into my first home a couple months ago and always wanted to have a pup as a companion, but sadly since I work a full time job and cant always come home for lunch breaks I'm worried about bringing in a puppy to the house and have them be alone for long periods of time while im working. I want to know if its still a good idea to get a puppy? P.S. Ive been learning so much from these videos and absolutely adore them

  • It’s a Lure Stick. Target Sticks do not require food on the stick just a minute of Touch Training first. Amazon.

  • My Cavalier (5bmo old) gets frustrated and bites and growls at the leash during this exercise. If the leash is on the ground she jumps at my leg

  • I thought this would be so helpful but my dog just jumps and wiggles and is generally crazy next to me trying to reach the peanut butter instead of walking and certainly not paying attention to me saying "yes"

  • While im over here commanding compliance with nothing more than simple single syllable marks. You have a high energy dog...! Who doesn't. Control the emotions before you reward the actions. Jittering in place is NOT a hold...

    • I control a Belgian malinois, (which unfortunately as become a fad - like the Shiba dogs.) Hand commands, eye contact. Exact determination of command is required. Give your "rat terroriser" an opportunity to do his instinctual job. I own rabbits and yes - my Belgian, "Shepherds"

    • If you are using packaged food, check the label for recommendations. Also, make sure it's appropriate for your dog: ie. small breed food for small breeds - puppy food for puppies. Also your vet can help with answers for your specific pup. hope this helps or you got help in the meantime.

    • When the pup has had his/her fill remove the food. On the next meal if only half is eaten, then skip the next one and in following days reduce to three or even two. Let your puppy tell you when they are hungry. Make sure your not overfeeding because "ahhh they are so small" etc. Use your head not your heart. A good guide is the dog should eat all the amount in 5 to 10 mins.
