  • My Mum had passed away a few weeks before this. I watched this game with my Dad, at home. We jumped for joy and hugged each other when that drop goal went over. The first time we had smiled in a long time. Sport really can be great. Thanks for the upload 👍

    • It was an absolutely epic effort and that huge drop goal at the end. I think I had £10 on Ireland . What a way to win though. I was round at my mum's house and she came in be because I'm going, "IRELAND, IRELAND!!" And I support Scotland but Ireland after. I like their style.

  • As a french, this drop goal was devastating, but it was a great game and a big finish. 41 phases without any mistakes, the great Sexton assuming his statue has a legendary player, the french defense... When I'm watching it now, I smile because it is a beautiful rugby moment and a beautiful win for Ireland. Respect for you Irish people, hope we'll face each other in the RWC 🇫🇷🫶🇮🇪

    • C’était une incroyable mauvaise équipe de France quand même… Pas foutu de défendre sur 41 phases !! Aujourd’hui au bout de 5 ou 6 on aurait gratté. J’avais tellement les boules ce jour là. • I was at the match in Paris - it was of the most extraordinary sporting events I've ever witnessed - the tension was unbearable - the French crowd were singing Allez Les Bleus thinking victory was theirs - Ireland were not giving up as they went through phase after phase knowing one error and it was all over - it seemed to go on for an eternity - then that one opportunity finally arrived for Sexton to launch a long range drop goal effort - up high in the air it went and the whole crowd held its breath - it was heading for goal and finally dropped over the cross bar with inches to spare - the ecstatic reaction from the Irish fans in the stadium was an absolute outpouring of joy - The French fans were stunned into silence - What an epic finish and Ireland would go onto win the Grand Slam beating England at Twickers on St Patrick's Day in the snow - Brilliant memories all round.

I always like to see Ireland, they play a fast, good game and Johnny putting over that long drop goal after so many evolutions was rugby history. They worked until boom. Fantastic. Not that anyone is missing just quite how amazing but, to put it in context, it's 41 phases and the 80:00 siren goes JUST as they get to 20 phases. 99% of teams would've been panicking at 25 phases, but the bloody stubborn heroes from Ireland get to 41 and they're like "ok, we're ready to win now."
