Sergeant Frank Kelly is one of the last good cops in Gotham and his life is about to change. Take a trip back to the mean streets of Gotham when “the Bat” was just a rumor chased by reporter Alexander Knox, and the city was powerless against crime bosses like Carl Grissom. The Oath stars Jerry Morgan, Oz Keenum, Chris Konke, and Michael Stumbo, with Guillermo Mejía as Batman.

Love how Bruce paid for his wife's medical bills. actually showing the nuance of batman with him solving the problem and preventing the cop from needing to turn to crooked behavior to provide for his family. something most batman media forgets to express or include. id watcha whole 2 hour movie by these guys

Exactly. Bruce Wayne is essential to solve the problems Batman can't. Batman fights the practical implications and prevents the direct consequences of evildoing (apprehending criminals and conserving evidence of crimes, and directly protecting human lives by preventing further crimes from being committed by desperate people choked from the chance to choose a better life), while Wayne fights the roots of the problems (through philanthropy, social housing, helping expose corrupt economic groups, taking over companies manages by seedy bureaucrats, and providing financial support to groundbreaking technology and medical facilities)
But . . . the sergeant DID take the money, and as such exhibited crooked behavior. He made the wrong choice, as Batman later admonishes him. If he hadn't taken the bribe, and the gangster started to rough him up (while possibly also verbally threatening his wife, which would have shown him to be even more dangerous since he did his homework on the sergeant), THEN Batman intervenes and takes the gangster down . . . and then perhaps Batman makes a brief comment that Gordon is not the only good cop on the force before grappling away . . . Such a small change would have heightened the dramatic tension, given a more imperative impetus for Batman to get involved . . . and it would have shown another bright spot of hope within the GCPD. Then, when the sergeant later receives the check from the Wayne Foundation, it would make it more seem that he earned it by turning away from being crooked - and was rewarded by Gotham's dark knight (in two ways). The only other thing was the newspaper article regarding the organized crime task force. It says that it is currently being assembled, while at the end of the same paragraph it says that this team is "proving to be a formidable force." How is this possible if it is still being formed? I had to read it a few times to see if I missed any nuance about it, but no, it doesn't make sense in full context. Those things aside, I appreciated the attention to detail in the sets used, the tributes to lines and action from the 1989 film, and the general tone. A lot was packed in there!

The best stories from the Batman universe are ALWAYS the everyday people living in Gotham. There was a great Joker story about some guy who was working for him and seeing everything from his perspective. I wish I could remember the name of it. It showed how people just have to do a job and that job might be with a terrible person like the Joker.

An actual Gotham series would be cool. Burton managed to make a character out of the city just like Scorsese with NY in his movies. Something that’s cool because when DC had proper and decent people working on the comics that was a thing for the comics too, even the asylum is a character itself.

These callbacks are great! You can tell the people that made this short film really cared about what they were making. Even the blues and greens are on point.

Excellent addition to the '89 franchise. I wish that WB would give Kaotica Studios the millions of dollars needed to make a full length feature film. As long as they let you make the film that you wanted, and they kept their noses out of it, you would make them a ton of money. All the while creating a Batman masterpiece. Great job here.

I love the attention to detail in recreating the aesthetics and atmosphere of the 1989 movie. It even connects directly to events hinted at taking place just before the opening scenes of that movie. As a life-long fan of Batman '89, this was a treat.

The Schumacher films were purposely made to be polar opposite to the universe created by the Keaton films. Hence why he was chosen as a replacement to Burton.

BRILLIANT. Batman ‘89 is actually my favorite movie of all time. I was 7 when it came out and to this day my favorite music to do computer work to is Elfman scores. The music and perfect amount of callbacks and references make this well-written film feel right out of the Burtonverse.

Wow this was really inspiring. It's obvious the cast and crew cared about their craft, and it goes a lot harder than you would expect a fan film to go. Also the music deserves its own props.

@@KaoticaStudios Yeah awesome - the Batman really captured the physicality of Keaton's batman. It's excellent. I like that you capture the white smoke. But you missed the red-green. Batman's eyes are green. You could sample the red Axis chemical from that movie and when Frank looks up, he sees that on the rooftop. Another nice touch would have been a rose in a vase on the kitchen table for red and green. Frank is fighting his own battle of duality. It's a nice touch that Frank is not a hero. At end he has the reputation. But still this is excellent. Burton uses black and white as well as red and green motifs. In fact, prices song even says it "Black and white. Red and green. The funky as thing you've ever seen ..." If you do part 2, what would be nice is to see Frank actual get shot to save commissioner Gordon's life. He doesn't die -- but this time he's not leading and living a lie. He is a hero. When he is in the hospital bed, he reads story about Gotham's Frank ... who almost lost his life in heroic act to save commissioner's life. The by line is Knox. Then cut to the same paper on a breakfast tray Alfred carries to Bruce. Alfred says ... Master Wayne I brought your breakfast and today's paper. I think you will appreciate the front page story. I guess one man really can be a symbol and make a difference. (Bit of Nolan's take.) Bruce, "Yeah Alfred ... Oh did did you ever give Knox a grant?" (A homage to first movie where Bruce said give Knox a grant - lol).

The Costume Design was Fantastic and 1989 Accurate. Miss seeing the classy crooks with suit and fedoras. Now days it always has to be Nolan style which takes the fun out of any superhero universe. Great job with this Fan Film. I choose Burtonverse over the Nolanverse any day.
Just watched your film, and it's the best Batman film i've seen in a long while. Thank you for not making it all Batman. I mean it's great to see how a normal cop is affected by the existence of the bat. And the actor in the lead role is terrific! Great music! More of this character in a sequel, please!

No complaints, been a Bat-Fan for Years, Loved Adam West in the Role back in 66-68…Kilmer was ok….Clooney kinda wasn’t his Fault, Bale & Nolan’s trilogy was top notch, Ben Affleck & Newest Batman Robert Pattinson did the Cape&Cowl PROUD!!! But this Fan-film is Based on my all time Favorite Batman 89 Micheal Keaton, and it has the Tone Right! I'm glad I grew up with the 60's Batman. I think it's fantastic that the technology exists that allows the current and future generations to create projects like this....something unimaginable until fairly recently.

We worked hard to get those GCPD costumes as close to the 1989 reference as possible! Well over $1,000 each, so luckily we only need two of them! 😮
The best thing about this movie was that it felt very realistic... Loved it... Reminded me of Keaton's Batman!!
This is REALLY well done! Congrats! Only thing I'd point out as something that could've been worked out better is the scene where Batman says "There's always a choice" then leaves, then comes back for the money, then drops the smoke bomb (to emulate one of the scenes in '89). Like, the whole comeback stuff, plus dropping the smoke bomb for one single cop who posed no threat -nor was the Batman cornered (which is what happened in the original film), was like a bit of overkill, imho. Other than that, superb fan film, and calls for a series!

That was an amazing fan film. Batman (1989) is my favorite movie of all time and It was really a really good fan film of the Burton Batman films.
Did you also see the Batman short film Batman: Dante, it was a short film by Blinky500, they also pay homage to the Tim Burton Batman outfit as well.

I really enjoyed this. I love how Batman is being expanded from just beating up bad guys to helping people in various other ways in life. Batman gave that man a second chance, and Bruce Wayne gave him what he needed to stay on the right path. Fantastic.

Most studios make superhero films for profit, but fanfilms like this are made by those of us who truly love the genre. Most of us grew up reading the comics. Superheroes are our modern mythology Centuries from now they might be held in as high a regard as we hold Zeus, Hera, Hercules, Medusa, etc. Fanfilms are made from the heart, and that's what makes them better than most theatrical versions, in my opinion. You've made an excellent film here, expanding a bit of the Burtonverse's Batman. Very well done. Better than what Schumacher unlessed on us years ago, and, I might add, on par with Chtistopher Nolan's trilogy.

This is one Batman fan film that has heart to it.
A lovely short that shows the influence of Batman without focusing on Batman. Also, a lovely homage to Tim Burton's take on Batman.

This is really good! I like how it focused on a cop within the police force instead on Batman, the characters were really good all in all a great short film 10/10.

We live in a strange age where fan films and fan fiction show more creativity, promise, and respect for the source material than billion-dollar "remakes" and reimaginings. But it's also the strange age where these productions have the opportunity to flourish and be seen by an audience who's been orphaned by major studios. As long as there are fans, the archetypes that these characters represent will be well-served.

The talkative cop at the beginning could play a heath ledger esque joker.
I’m a HUGE fan of the 1989 Batman movie. This was a great tie-in with some nice fan moments. Powerful little story as well, really liked the acting by the cop towards the end when he received the check from Bruce Wayne.

This is what I missed about Batman very little dialogue when confronting someone....he says what he needs to say and that's that....mainly three or two words and they already know what's up! And the music! Oh man.....this definitely felt like a Danny elfman score all the way! So props to the composer! All the way!
This was pretty damn good I like that bruce helped the cop put thats not shown nearly enough in media but his compassion for his villians is what makes him a great character one of the best eps of btas is when he redeems arnold wesker aka scarface by giving him a job and normal life
I just came across this ,very well done short film based on Tim Burton's Batman. Please keep making more of these well done films. I still have that same smile on my face whenI went to the premiere in 1989, and this gives me those same feelings again.

Masterful. Beautiful. This is how you tell a story - it’s so brilliant and thoughtful, the idea that Batman is the sub plot but woven really well (Todd Philips’ Joker in similar fashion). Great lighting, lovely use of tone and empathy for the almost villain. Bruce sends a ghost bribe to give the officer reason and accountability, although this charity is a wake up call. Incredible.
I guess since we're not getting Keaton as Batman again! this is the next best thing
