  • I was 15 when I heard this song for the first time. I didn't know English then, but this song touched me. Now I'm 38 and I speak English. And now I understand what she's singing about. And it's a beautiful song. Love and accept yourself!❤ 2024, still listining✌️

  • Nowadays we talk a lot about affirmations, this songs is one of the most beautiful, hopeful, true affirmations, everything will be ok, we will be ok and valid even if we crumble or not meet expectations. Alanis always wrote things that as i learned english (i listened since 7 but im a spanish speaking girly) i started to understand slowly and they all made me cry and feel with her, such a magical woman.

  • My mom died 7 years ago. She was everything to me. She was my caregiver. But she got sick. I had to change her diapers, shower her and give her medicine. She died in my Dad’s arms and I couldn’t be there for her that day. That’s heartbreaking. After her death, I kept playing this song hoping Alanis would say I would be good with losing my mom or hers. So many tears shed listening and trying to fit this song into my psyche. That would be good…if I was alone. She couldn’t. I can’t. It’s a song that even she can’t fully fulfill.

    • @@ZorbaTheDutch , yeah. Sigh. ,I was kinda upset there. She could have made some babies and then resumed her career, seeing as it's persisted into her 70s, long, long, long after she's able to give birth. The lowest birthrate on the planet is among intelligent white women. Meanwhile, many brash and less capable people in the developed World shower children into the World, and although most of the 3rd World has stopped exploding (see e.g. Hans Rosling's presentations, essential viewing really), Africa population 1950: 227 million; 2014: 1200 millon; projected 2100: 4100-4400 million (UN numbers I got from their website, and Hans explains the increase is almost all sub-saharan), and commensurately, that many more there will be starving and waging tribal territorial wars. Maybe China's huge investments there can make some developmental difference. Won't bring back Debbie Harry's potential dynasty though. And what a terrible role model: sacrifice making a family for your career. No wonder the number of white people is generally dwindling all over the planet.

    • When I was a 16 year old kid I got introduced to methamphetamine. And all my life people told my family tough love was there only answer yet they chose to love me unconditionally just the way I was and that unconditional love is ultimately what helped get me off of it. So I would be good even if I'm numb to myself. I know so many families that are torn apart and they don't have nothing to do with one another and they have unforgiveness towards one another but my family is the total opposites. When I was at my worst and felt Unworthy of anybody's love they showed up and loved me anyway. And then my other favorite line of the song is With or Without You. It took me almost a life time to figure out I was just as good alone if not better than I ever was with someone. I suppose if there was someone here I may not have left such a lengthy reply. Agape love unconditional love rules. And after I spent enough time alone I realize being alone wasn't all that bad. As a matter of fact if I had my rathers I would be alone over any relationship I've ever had. Anyways if you got to the bottom of this lengthy reply peace love and happy thoughts

A personagem apaixonava-se pelo motorista e desde então sua prepotência e orgulho caíram por terra. Essa música foi perfeita na escolha da personagem. A letra e melodia desta canção são impactantes, só quem possui a sensibilidade para entender .
