A Purple Heron makes its catch of the day. After about an hour of mostly motionless waiting and watching, the heron finally caught a big Tilapia fish. It takes a while to swallow it, but after some large gulps and a deep breath, the heron succeeds. It swallows it whole only to have it give a final wriggle in its throat, causing its neck to look as though it suddenly spasms. After a few sips of water the heron starts fishing again, making another successful catch 10 minutes later. This time its just a small snack of a fish, but a Blacksmith Lapwing does get a fright in the process as the heron strikes.

Amazing footage! That looks like a huge fish (a fully grown/adult Tilapia?) the bird caught! The fish was struggling, but the hungry Heron managed to fully consume (alive?!) it all okay? It looked like the unlucky thing was desperately kicking sliding down that long throat! I wonder, does the large fish stand any chance of escaping if eaten in that condition? Maybe it can turn around inside the elastic throat/stomach and has a chance of survival here.
Fish is so slippery and slip down through the throat. That is it's unfortunate.
The heron was perfectly fine after eating the big Tilapia. So much so that it started hunting again soon afterwards. I don't think the fish stood a chance of surviving and escaping.
