At www.richsauces.com we aim to show you and your kitchen team how to get the most from our products and so let's start with our coleslaw recipe - 3 tips for worlds best slaw
With such a well known side dish as coleslaw it never fails to surprise us how often we see businesses trying to sell poor coleslaw as they have chosen to use cheap ingredients or complicate what should be a simple recipe.
It might seem to make sense to reduce the cost of ingredients to increase profitability but as customers notice the difference and begin to shop elsewhere your sales volume will plummet. This model is fine if you have huge buying power so can sell it cheaply but for 98% of coleslaw sellers this is not an option
Other businesses aim to add flavour or character to their coleslaw by using savoury mayo or seasoning with black pepper or onions. If you want to create flavoured coleslaws you can do that but these ingredients seriously reduce the product shelf life and it can discolour making it very unappealing for a potential customer after. So as the saying goes, Keep It Simple Stupid and
Follow our simple 3 tips for world's best coleslaw
1. Ingredients- use the best and keep it simple, Cabbage, Carrot and Rich Sauces Real Mayonnaise
2. Cut -- Julienne your cabbage into matchstick portions, coarsely grate your carrot and then mix in Rich Sauces Real Mayonnaise
3. Proportion -- 50% Cabbage, 45% Rich Sauces Real Mayonnaise and 5 % carrot
There you have it the worlds best coleslaw recipe.

  • I think this was an ambush commercial for some brand of mayo that I`ve never heard of.

    • Yep. Rich Sauces is a brand of food products from Northern Ireland. Widely available in the UK, their mayonnaise isn't as well known in the USA as Best Foods / Hellmann's.

  • I think we all have different versions of what should be in coleslaw. I loved reading all the responses. Because I've had it so many ways. And so many were very good and so many were very awful. So I think it's what you are used to. And then you just add on it. The real key in anything is getting the base correct. Then you can expand from there...

    • A sweet tangy slaw can be great with fatty meats. We go for a neutral slaw as it works/ enhances most dishes as an accompaniment. But its all about personal preference. Thanks for your comment :-)

  • Restaurant mayonaise is different than supermarket mayonaise. That's why their sandwiches always taste better than at home. Some US supermarkets and Costco carry it though, it's called Heavy Mayonaise.

    @Mr.56Goldtop@Mr.56Goldtop8 жыл бұрын
    • +seattwa TKS for your comments. Quality of mayo depends on what type of oil is used, how much, the amount of eggs, the additional flavours and then the care with how it is made. A lot of variables. We only supply to restaurants (So you can imagine how good it tastes.) Not all mayonnaises are created equally.

      @richsauces1@richsauces18 жыл бұрын
  • I’ve never been a fan of coleslaw when dining out, mainly because of the acidic taste of vinegar or lemon juice added. However, the addition of plain mayonnaise really appeals, and I shall definitely give it a go. You have converted me!

    @peteradaniel@peteradaniel5 жыл бұрын
    • Yeah no onions. Maybe a little celery salt or a tiny bit of ground mustard. I get so mad when people put raw onions in coleslaw. Simpler the better. And if you can resist let it rest overnight. I’ve gotten to the point that I cannot even eat coleslaw that I buy at the grocery store or get a restaurant because it is so inconsistent. I guess I will seem like an ass if I asked to taste the coleslaw before ordering as a side but I have been disappointed so many times that I just make it at home but being a single person that means I have to buy a whole head of cabbage and a whole bag of carrots…. Just make sure you use real mayonnaise I mean real mayonnaise or yogurt but not Miracle whip oh my gosh
