This shouldn’t even be heard by the Supreme Court. As a matter of fact, changes need to be made, but to the Supreme Court! No more lifetime appointments. 4-8 years max! Age limit if 60-65. Half Democrat, Half Republican appointees. There MUST be balance in the Supreme Court. The president no longer appoints the justices. The People do!! Judges must have a track record of being fair!! No more dissent, no more judges being pressured by favors.
Objectively listening to Justice Alito leads me to believe he is going to vote on trump’s favor. The way he framed his questions points to that conclusion.
Here’s a novel idea. Don’t break the law before, during or after office.

They are supposed to decide the constitutionality of the existing charges in the existing case and not wax eloquent about the effect on future presidents. It’s this case and this case only. Alito's hypothetical argument makes no sense. How can the winner (unlawfully) throw his losing opponent in jail UNLESS the winner has immunity? The only thing preventing Alito from being the worst judge in US history is Thomas.
One more thing: Since when does a person get to commit a crime and LATER argue their defense is that it's a free country and they have immunity?

I think there is a law which states something to the effect that a judge (for example) cannot be sued for any wrong decision they make on a case. Which is a far cry from total immunity.
