There is also an option to control the zones of the mini LED software in the synapse software, but the ASUS option still provides an additional mode.
I got the same one, I rather have this than the 4K. That mini led 2,000 dimming zones & over 1000 nits is gaming changing on a 18 inch. I can’t go back to standard IPS. It’s another channel that has a mini led model, but claiming to his viewers he got the 4K. When it’s obvious 2k; 2560x 1600. Plus the screen wouldn’t be that bright. Razer even stated that 4k model won’t come out until summer. Also the mini led & 4k model cost the same just in different colors.( Only three configurations in the 4090) Silver will get you 4k model with a 4090, at the same price as the mini led- 4500. Black 4k 4090 18 is 4800= So the extra 300 you pay for is the extra 32ram & 2 SSD. So, I figured the 4k is not what it’s hyped up to be, if not Razer would definitely priced it more. I took the 64gb from my 16inch and threw it in my Razer 18, along with my SSD. Feels good to run at 5600mhz. The ram and SSD you can buy for yourself. Anyways, great video as always bro.
how many dimming zones does it have?
@@joshpeck9266 2,000 zones
Overprice Blade 18 is hilarious, 3K dollars for a RTx 4070
You can control the Mini LED dimming zones in the razer synapse software. Not sure why this wasn't researched beforehand because this review has incorrect information in regard to panel brightness.
3k dollars for a 4070 is hilarious.
Having 3k for a gaming PC and buying a laptop is hilarious.
@@lewisgarland1259 depends on your needs, i cant stay in 1 spot so i would rather have a laptop...the problem is buying the 4070 for 3k when you can get a 4080 legion 7 on sale.
@@lewisgarland1259 I mean laptops have their usecase so, having 3 k for a laptop is a chill thing if you have it no? :D
@@lewisgarland1259 Not really. The 4080 and 4090 laptop are actually quite impressive, with the 4090 having the performance of a 4070 Ti Super. If you travel, it's perfectly valid to buy a laptop that will outdo the performance of the last-gen pinnacle models and will almost match a desktop 4080.

Who tf is buying these laptops at these outrageous prices.
its suppose to make lower models look like a bargain.... e.g. "SAVE" $600 by getting a 4080 for only $4000
I think no one does. Everyone just waits for a sale. I stumbled across a 2020 Blade 17 in 2022 on sale for 60% off, presumably because no one was buying it and they had to get rid of the stock. It's a great laptop for the price I paid. I would've preferred the Blade 14 size but the bargain was too good for me to ignore!
Some people do. They just don't buy the highest end ones
I bought the 2023 blade 18 4090. After selling my 5900x and 4090 desktop. Reason..... I'm selling my apartment and living in a truck. The 4090 18 blade was what I chose for most performance with little power draw.

This 300 Hz miniLED screen is definitely impressive but yeah not too many reasons to take this model over the 2023 Blade 18.
Yeah maybe if I could actually use Thunderbolt 5 😅

Hello! Please tell me what power does the RAZER BLADE 18 2024 CPU and GPU have in the Silent and Balance profile? And also what is the noise level in them? In review GizmoSlipTech Asus Scar 18 4090 with Mini Led Display (model 2024) The CPU outputted ~40-50W and the GPU outputted ~150W in Silent Mode and was incredibly quiet. BUT in other reviews (like on your channel in the Scar 18 4090 model (in the 2023 model), the CPU produced ~35W and the GPU produced ~55W in Silent Mode Ultrabookreview had the same data as you for the 2023 model. That’s why I’m clarifying everything about Razer. Thank you in advance.
heyy jarrod , do you plan on replacing the benchmarks for real life usage with their more practical alternatives ? So that viewers have a better and more comparable idea of what to make out of the data . Eg instead of blender benchmark showing the render time for classroom scene. Instead of Puget and Da Vinci benchmark exporting 4k videos and showing the render times for it etc .
Hi Jarrod, can you advise what TB5 chip this laptop is using? Should have the prefix JHL, easy to see using lspci in any Linux distro live ISO.
If i just enable HDR in windows but look at non hdr content, do i still get brighter display?
Could you make a benchmark video for helldivers2 since its CPU intensive games when multiplayer, my Asus 5900hx and rtx 3060 struggling to get 60fps on 1080p med settings. many thanks
I think they actually upgraded the speakers on the new 2024 model. The woofers look way larger compared to the 2023 Version, but I wasn't yet able to find a sound test.
Thanks for testing. I will definitely buy it.

Hey jarrond. I am looking to get an external monitor for my gaming laptop (MSI GE76 12UE-456), and I was wondering if its safe to keep the laptop upside down?
Can you somehow test if you can connect it to an Apple Studio Display via the thunderbolt 5 port?
Have you reviewed the legion pro 7i gen 9 ?
Hi Jarrod! Thank you for your helpful videos been on deciding on the Razer blade 18, will you be reviewing the 4k 200hz version when it is released?
No sorry, 2 reasons. First is it's honestly not enough of a difference to justify a video, but the main reason secondly is they are unlikely to send it to us for the same reason. If we ever did get it, all I'd do is upload the screen results to jarrods.tech/gaming-laptops-with-best-screens/

Jarrod, can you give recommendations for 4070 laptops? yes i saw your video about 4070 x 4080, but in my country a 4080 is 70% expensive, so is a no go for me... Thank you in advance
I get this doesn't have anything to do with the video, but... I got an Acer Nitro V 15, has a good performance, but the battery is so awful that I will be spending most of the time plugging the charger. I have this option enabled that makes the battery cap at 80% when charging making me question this: How much time is "healthy" to have my laptop plugged in?
Watching just to see what you say about the memory and SSD pricing 😮
I loved my acer predator 18 with mini led, I like it better than my main screen lol, but sent it back because new laptops at the end of the year with 15th gen cpus and 5080, these laptops just aren't worth the price! If I can't get oled I will find one with mini led because I almost couldn't tell the difference and was beautiful! We shall see if no hypthreading helps in 15th gen, from what I understand it created more heat in mobile chips and what is a big offender to making our laptops thermal throttle and then causing micro stutters in game. I really hope the boosting activity gets reworked because frequency constantly changing due to the thermal limits also made or contributed. It was only when I limited power of the cpu to 50-65w I would get a stable clock of 4.1-4.3ghz and if I didn't power lock the cpu and let it do whatever it wanted, it would slam the cpu with 120w and hit 90c causing clocks to be all over the place, big frame pacing spikes (stutters). Also for the people ordering the 5080-5090 I really hope the give use more heat pipes, I mean if it's almost 10lbs who cares about few more hundred grams! I want performance and shouldn't have to power limit my cpu to correct frame pacing issues! Give me a chunky performance monster, I don't care about a slim pretty thing, you are cutting the balls off our machines!
No Keyboard or palm rest temperature Testing Jarrod??? Or you forgot?

You can change it through NVIDIA Control Panel in the resolution section.
@@JarrodsTech Wow you are really answering questions. Thank you so much. Hello from Ukraine.
Do you think it's better to wait for the 5000 series laptops to come out at this point if you've got a 3000 series one? I don't think the current 4000 series prices are worth the money with the performance boost they give.
Not worth it, the 3000 series are still good enough. Better to wait for the 5000 series indeed.
Depends. The 4090 laptop crushes anything from the 3000-series, and I've seen them as low as $2,200. It's probably another 6-8 months until we even see the 5000 series release, and they're going to be very expensive. And don't expect a 5070 to match a 4090 laptop. We saw with this generation that the 4060 and 4070 are not that much crazier than last gen, and you need to go to 4080 and 4090 to see the big performance jumps.
@@ErinxhI completely agree, other than the 4090 the laptop releases have been really disappointing this generation, in desktop a 4070 outperforms the most powerful and expensive 3090 at half the price, but on lapotp a 4070 and 4080 are still similar in performance to a 3070ti and a 3080ti respectively, at twice the pricetag, not been a good year for laptop users...
Hey man, I had a doubt regarding dual channel memory. I bought a laptop with 8 gigs of single channel ram, and I was thinking of adding another stick of 16gigs of ram to make a total of 24gb ram for now (so that if I want to upgrade the 8gb stick to 16gb later, I'll have a total of 32gb). But I'm not sure if the Dual Channel still applies upto 16gb out of the 24gb... Could you confirm which one would be a better option, +8 or +16 gb ram?
Dual is always done with 2 of the same ram sticks, so I believe you want to get the second stick of 8gb or 2 sticks of 16gb and make sure they are dual channel!
@@user-yb7nq6yn5n I thought so too, but I believe I saw somewhere that on 8+16 you can get dual channel until 16gb memory has been used.
A review of the new helios 18 with mini LED would be awesome. Its one of the few 18 inch laptops that dont cost a kidney and half a heart.

Hey guys my brother is going to college this summer with a $2000 budget and his options are: two laptops: Macbook Air M1 + cheapest 4070 laptop (MSI katana?), eGPU + new thinkbook with oculink port or a Zephyrus 2024 14 inch 4060. He plays AAA and a lot of multiplayer titles, but not very tech savvy so what's the best option here?
I think I would go with the 2024 G14, just because it's an amazing do-it-all device. It has a lot of power, but still also has a CNC-Aluminum chassis, great speakers and a 120Hz OLED panel. Also, the battery life is pretty good because of the Ryzen CPU. I'd just try to get the 32 GB RAM version because it's soldered down, and you cannot upgrade it later.
I hooked a 4090 egpu to my laptop and it was a best at 4k. Get the cheapest laptop with the best CPU and spare SSD slot. Go oculink with the best gpu you can afford and you will be a happy bunny.
Buy a used Thinkpad for 400$ and upgrade storage/RAM for 50-100$ and blow the 1500$ on shitcoins. That's what life is about bro.
its strange why you dont test thr games with their max ultra settings as all of these gpu’s from 4060 to 4090 are fully capable to run those. the gpu performance difference is better visible at ultra rather than high settings which could be run by even a 4050.

Thunderbolt 5 is the main reason I'm holding out on replacing my old laptop.
Oh sweet where is my checkbook....??
Why would a laptop rocking the highest GPU need to have an iGPU option? That's just downright redundant.
Imagine connecting a 4090 to a zenbook and getting full preformance XD
This is what I want to see. I'm done with gaming laptops now, but what I want to know is how well Thunderbolt 5 runs. I want a handheld gaming device like a Legion Go 2 or Steam Deck 2 docked to a TB5 eGPU - like a superpowered Switch.
@user-ds8rj2vc4v yeah dude the convenience of not having to carry around a 2.5kg laptop is just something else . Zenbooks are like 1 kg . If they could pull that off it would be awesome . It's not like it needs that much cpu cooling anyways . It's mostly like 50w which is not that high. Also you're good about future proofing as well . You just sell the 4090 and buy a 5090 (assuming there's not a cpu bottleneck)
That is atrocious performance for the price. Whew.
... incredible. The ASUS Scar 17 (2023) is still at the top of the charts (May 2024) and I bet it will stay there for a looong time. It really does not make much sense to buy a new laptop in 2024 unless you get some huge discount on the 2023 version. Buying a 2024 version of any laptop does not make sense at all.
I really love razor's laptops, unfortunately they are out of my price range

Jared, I am surprised you didn’t notice or comment on the screen issue that is affecting 18” Blades with mini-led. If you click on the multi-zone setting the screen becomes darker with grey whites, contrast suffers, and blooming is horrible. This has been reported by several people on Reddit. Most likely you were testing the computer in single zone w/out activating all the zones. Try the multi-zone option and you will see the issue.
For all those complaining about these ridiculous prices I would suggest that you redirect your anger to action by waiting a bit and getting an AMD gaming laptop which will be nearly as fast at half the price. This sort of price gouging happens every time competition gets choked-off.
