Small tech trees in War Thunder often get filled with a lot of copy-paste vehicles, and Sweden is no exception. The Pbv 501 is a BMP-1 IFV that lacks a missile and sits at a lower battle rating, making it quite potent at 6.7.

The reason Sweden got the bmp1 was bc after the fall of east Germany the Bundeswehr sold several BMPs in the 90s

I thought it was Czechia who sold them to Sweden and then Sweden sold them back in something like 2004 and what remained in Czech stockpile in 2022 was send to Ukraine. edit: bought from germany, send to Czechia to be modified for sweden, send to Sweden, sold back to czechia and then sold to Iraq.

Attemp number 33 at getting Spookston to play any tank with a dozer blade, the catch is, he has to dig in before engaging targets. Movement around the map is allowed, but he has to dig in again before reengaging.

In response to your question at 3:35, Sweden first bought some previouslt east german MTLBs for use as troop transport, the amount bought did not satisfy the need for troop transport so we utilised the possiblity to test some BMP-1s through the deal to buy MTLBs, so in 1994 4 BMP-1s were bought for testing purposes and one for firing tests, the test results were so positive that by june 1994 it was decided to buy 350 BMP-1s along with an extra 83 for spare parts. Before they could be delivered they had to go through rather extensive repairs, which were done by a czechian factory, which delivered 12 BMPs per month between 1996 and 2001. By 2005 the choice was made to decommision the BMPs and in 2010 they were fully decommisioned as the factory that repaired them bought them back and sold them to Iraq. Fun fact: the BMPs were initially bought in for the northern infantry regiments but when delivered and saw some actual use their abiity to traverse snow covered terrain was so bad it was decided the northern regiments were to swap their BMPs with the southern regiments MTLBS.

i heard you hate british vehicles, vehicles that do no damage and vehicles that are basically CAS magnets, so i think you should play the ratel 90; a gigantic british light tank with no armor, that only gets 90mm HEAT with a 7 second aced reload and that somehow always gets strafed by planes before it's even allowed to leave spawn (day 52)

Idk why but I find sniping with the bmp1 heat to be pretty fun, sometimes you don't want to drive all the way to a point to get your atgms back. Also m2a2 would be pretty swag

3:34 I'm pretty sure Sweden bought some of the Czech modified bmp-1s and that's what we have in game and how Sweden managed to get ahold of bmps, outside of the lack of a missile there are some other slight differences but nothing too terribly important to note outside of them technically being Czech bmps.

Attempt 21 Challenge: For high tier support a nations MBT with its respective APC/IFV counterpart (ie Abrams/Bradley, T90/BMP2M, etc.) Challenge is keeping the other player alive and supporting it without stealing kills (breaking barrels, tracking, repairing, etc) it being a random should help make it interesting.

If there was a special Panzer IV variant that could be an event vehicle is a Panzer IV armed with a 76mm ZiS-3 AT gun. It was a field mod. made by Bulgaria and used as part of a defensive line on (I think) the Turkish border, it's now in a museum.
Someone else knows about this too I see. I saw it in a video made by Cone of Arc.

@Spookston Actually its not BMP-1, but BVP-1, which is licensed copy build in Czechoslovakia. A lot of Warsaw pact countires choosed to buy armor from Czechoslovakia, instead of Soviet Union, because of the higher quality of the final product. The story of Pbv501 starts in 1994, when Sweden decided to buy former East German BVP-1s, build in Czechoslovakia and in 1996 those vehicles were transfered bach to Czechia for modernisation and upgrade. Czech company VOP-026 modernised 350 of BVP-1s. Malyutka ATGM was removed, instaled was new fireextingushing system, interior was modernised and parts with asbestos were removed, the same as fuel tanks in back doors. Modernisation was done in 1997-2001. Pbv 501 were withdrawn from active service in 2008 and in the same year all those vehicles were bought back by Czech company VOP-026 and stored and used for some technoloigical demonstrators like MGC-1 APC or MGC-1 with DVK-30 turret with 30mm autocannon. At the begining of 2015, Czechia transfered 280 of those vehicles to Iraq as miliary aid to help fight Islamic State and fought even furing Battle of Mosul. In February 2022 56 of those vehicles were transfered to Ukraine as part of Czech military aid and becouse those were originaly German vehicles, it needed to be approved by German government.

I picked up Sweden recently. Easily the most under appreciated faction from what I've seen. I love the fact I can use a pziv, t-34 and Sherman in the same lineup

Everytime I see a BMP I always think about the custom sight for it with the rectangle, the smaller the square the further you aim and all you do is fit the target into the square, works REALLY well

About rebinding scout. I personally put it on right click because I can't think of many tank that have both scout and multiple cannons. And if they do, I can just use commander view
If your mouse has a scroll wheel click option I highly recommend rebinding scouting to that. Separates the commands so you don't flashbang the audience but also allows you to spot a bit easier/quicker since you barely have to move your finger.

I wish Gaijin would add BRM-1 to the USSR as their version of a BMP-1 without missiles, although the turret on the BRM-1 is noticeably larger. some variants even had radar that was meant for ground surveillance, i.e. scouting.

Fun(ish) fact PBV 501 are swedish BMP-1's... kinda. Thing is those BMPs were first transferred to DDR by soviet union and some of them were built in east germany. They were not the "top shelf" ones from the start. Then after the unification of germany, those BMP-1's were transferred to Bundeswehr. And Bundeswehr when ran the tests on them concluded these are not suited for human use. The amount of carcinogens used in the paint coating, the ammo propellants etc, rendered them non-suitable for use in the army for anything. And since the Soviet Union collapsed, the source of parts was also gone. Oh, and they filled the rear ramp/door gas tanks with foam and cement as those were not suited for water storage and using them as gas tanks was seen as too dangerous for the crew. Not to mention they already leaked everywhere. Ammo was deemed to dangerous to use in training due to its bad quality. So basically Germany was left with fleet of unusable IFV/APC's And then Swedes realised they need something for their mechanised infantry that operates up north where there is a lot of swamps. So they ditched the ATGM launchers as they were at the moment seen simply unusable in swedish enviroment (as its wire guided ones) an bought them for less than used WV Passat per unit, with all available parts. And thats how Sweden got its PBV 501. Basically, they bought off scrap from Germany that West Germans saw too dangerous to use for their crews.

funny thing they sent the BMP's to the Czech republic from Germany to be made fit for Swedish service which meant to remove the ATGM for safety reasons and among other things removing asbestos from the interiors
