No matter how you feel about each Scream movie, it says a lot about their commitment to making a good movie that this franchise has existed since 1996 & yet there are only 4 sequels. They could have easily rushed a sequel out every two years. The effort is consistently there.
Just u wait. If this does numbers the sequels will be imminent! 😄
Saw says hi 💀
Sure but III is still shite
Oh stop it. That logic makes no damn sense lol
considering they rushed out Scream 2 literally in a full year after Scream 1. testament to how good it is as a movie given that.
For a horror movie that's releasing in January, I'm glad to hear that it didn't sucked atleast
Exactly
I'm legitimately surprised he didn't shit all over this movie. I've been saying for the last few months since the trailer "it's a horror movie releasing in January, it's destined to fail". It sounds like I might be eating my own words.

Get what you're saying about 4, but the entire premise of 3, where it all revolved around the use of a voice changer that doesn't even exist today and could be used in real life and not just over a phone was ridiculous.

Roberty L. Jackson is one of my inspirations for becoming a voice actor. Creating a memorable character without even being on camera. Ghost face's voice is iconic.
He’s also the voice of mojo jojo from the powerpuff girls

It is pretty weird tho. I expected a tons of negative reviews for this one. I mean, the trailers did not look bad but neither great. I´m gonna see it soon.

Dude the reviews like everywhere are positive I’ve seen only three bad ones.
This movie had a lot of fan service and it actually worked. My main complaint is that too many people didn't get killed, but instead injured. I was able to predict one of the killers and the big character who was killed, so it was easy to read where it was going.
The fact that they killed off a vet who’s been through this multiple times by a damn 100 lb teen is the only thing that killed it. The dude that plays the other killer would have made some sense but that kill just made no sense.

@@el-youtub3r402 he didn’t try to kill Tara in the scene in the hospital. That was meant to lure Dewey and Sam to them. Maybe actually pay attention to the movie
Ever since Scream 2, Dewey was my favorite. By the second movie Sidney isn't the underdog, Dewey is. He failed as a cop and a brother. All he cares about is protecting the only thing he has left of his sister, Sidney. By Scream 4, Sidney has been his "sister" longer than Tatum. Hearing those 8 notes from Dewey's theme automatically puts a smile on my face.

Someone described the stabbing in this film to a prison yard fight. Pretty accurate. The stabbing was brutal in this one. Really uncomfortable to watch. Didn't like the hallucination angle. Didn't work for me. And, one of the killers, and really both of them, I couldn't buy being the ones to pull off these kills. One because there was NO way they would be remotely strong enough or big enough to be any version of ghostface in this movie. I'd have liked it if there were more than two killers this time. At least three maybe more. A full conspiracy of psychos ravaging their hometown.

I would like in a future scream that they manage to kill ghostface mid-movie but killings continue. I think it couldve been done in this movie when dewey shoots him. Instead of running and then come back, just shoot him again

Yeah, I love Scream 4. My second favorite after the original. Great cast, good deaths, charismatic characters, amazing killer reveal and a badass ending. A great farewell to Wes.
Why was it filmed like sunlight was always hitting them though lmao
I don’t understand how they changed out of the GhostFace costume so quickly, also where did they keep it? How can someone be stabbed multiple times and not have the knife hit multiple organs? In the hospital scene, how did the cop not hear Sam screaming in the break room? In the other hospital scene when GhostFace is after Tara while she’s crawling, where were all the other patients and hospital staff? Hospitals are usually always filled with people. Why wasn’t Wes’s mom armed? Isn’t she a cop and off-duty cops are still armed? In the end with the party at Pam’s house, what kind of house has that many closets??? Overall, I still enjoyed the movie and thought it was entertaining.

There were a few nit picky things for me that I didn’t notice as much in other scream films. It almost felt like they wanted this thing to happen but couldn’t figure out how to write it naturally. Like that one person dying in the hospital. That person knew better than to go back. And they stop to look at the phone briefly instead of just doing it and running off. It felt like they just wanted to do that kill and couldn’t figure out how. At the end the one character asks if they think what’s happening on the porch is legit and they say no, trap. And then just stand there. They don’t pull their gun that they’re holding. I did really like the boyfriend. I forget his name but he was really funny. He was one of the more entertaining new characters for me. I liked it. But I was expecting a shock for the killer as much as they went on and on in interviews about how this was the perfect killer. I kept waiting for a shock. The killer didn’t give that to me
I love how you described this without spoiling anything for those who haven't seen it. I completely agree with you about the person in the hospital. That person would have gone for the head shot right away. They would have known better than to go back...and if they did, it would have made way more sense to do the shot from a further distance. I think the kill would have had a much greater emotional impact if it had been written better. The part with the porch was funny, but they would have already had their guns out for sure!

That's an interesting way of describing 3. I never realized the violence was toned down a lot in the 3rd film. I actually like the story for 3 a lot with how they connected it to the first film while 2 was just a basic revenge story. Loved the Mickey character in 2 though.

I have to agree with you on everything. Except I would say 1, 2, 5, 4, then 3. And honestly I'm glad they didn't act like "omg who is it!? Who's gonna die?" They setup the full cast and let them play their roles, even if some of their roles was just to die without much development. The first 30 minutes tells us everything we need to know and if you've seen the previous Scream films, you can practically guess how the movie will play out. Which I totally was fine with since I was mainly there to see the brutal killings and fun banter between the og characters and some of the new ones too.

As long as Ghostface is MEMORABLE in this then I'm good. Every Scream movie BUT the third has a MOMENT or a few that makes you go "Ohhhhhh SHIT" with Ghostface. Scream 3's BIGGEST flaw was that the Ghostface calls, were just the cast instead of it being the voice of Roger L Jackson. And when it WAS Jackson, the lines were boring asf. It didn't make for memorable phone calls. Or Ghostface. Scream 1996 had the iconic opening among other lines like "do you want to die tonight? Your mother sure didn't." Scream 2 had moments like "I want you. It's showtime (then why don't you show your face you FCKING coward).....MY PLEASURE." and the call with Randy. Scream 4 had the ICONIC you could hear a pin drop in theater moment "I never said I was in YOUR closet." and "If you want to be in the hospital I'll be happy to put you there....IN THE MORGUE." Scream 3 took out the most interesting aspect of the franchise-the phone call. So if Scream 5 has good Ghostface moments then I'll be happy.

My ranking would be: Scream,Scream 2,Scream 4,Scream 3 and Scream (2022) I tend to think that the first one was so successful because the scriptwritter: Kevin Williamson, was in a desperate situation, money wise. He isolated himself and wrote the script in three days plus 5 pages each to a Scream 2 and a Scream 3 proposal with the intent of having a franchise from the get go which ultimately worked (the fact that Drew Barrymore was interested in playing a part also helped since her interest was what made Wes Craven adamant in being involved in the film...)

Man, the 4th one would have been better if it didn't star an abuser who can't act. But since she's a chick and Julia Roberts' niece, everyone overlooks that.
For me 2 and 4 are kinda on the same level of quality. The first one still wins by a landslide
@@englishatheart whos the abuser
@@creativemediaportfolio4502 lol I mean she clearly laid it all out without giving the name. All you had to do was Google Scream 4 haha
This is what I thought Scream 4 was gonna be! I'm absolutely thrilled with the result. Not perfect, but that's an impossible standard! My favourite sequel after Scream 2 :) Totally loved it. Such an emotional roller coaster. Just a few things I would change and you pointed one of them out; the incessant finger pointing was too much. And some of the ancillary characters were absolutely *wasted* . Two female characters in particular.
They kind of butchered dewie tho, ngl
@@dude2410 yeah fr a 200 some lb ex cop gets demolished by a 100lb girl. Like what, even with nerve damage he could rag doll her ass.
@@sovietsnake2729 And the dude has 4 movies of experience with that SPECIFIC type of killer, which means he has atleast 20 years of experience. What the actual F***!!!
@@sovietsnake2729 Yes, that was a small plot hole.
Female characters? At least the women mattered. The men were completely useless. The main male villain was good acting but obvious. This movie is the worst of the franchise.
I absolutely loved the first half of the movie but felt that the second half just kind of leaned a bit too heavily into the self-aware allegory area to the point that I found myself sort of rolling my eyes once or twice with the feeling of "I get it". But it really does play with alot of horror tropes to leave you in suspense and waiting for something and you can tell they are just delighting in having you wonder and wait. The acting is great and story simple enough to be easily followed while not feeling hollow. Very solid, if a bit on the nose at times, but a great movie that can proudly stand beside the first. 7/10.
Glad to see uts getting well received, can't wait to see it, for me my ranking is: 1. Scream 2/3. Scream 2 2/3. Scream 4 4. Scream 3 I rank 2 and 4 more or less the same level.
Has Jeremy ever done a review on the shampoo he uses? cause like.. damn
I saw it tonight, a night earlier, and I loved it. Scream has always been my favorite horror franchise. I love the satire, the horror, the characters, Ghostface, I love it all. And yes, Ghostface was BRUTAL in Scream 5. Several times during the movie I couldn't help but go "gahdamn" at times lol.
Yea Ghostface was sooo brutal in this movie that he couldn't kill a teenage girl. Failed twice and in the latter try she was in a wheelchair.... Ridiculous

I just saw it last night, and while I definitely agree it felt like Scream 4 served more of a direct purpose, I still think this is a better overall movie. Partly because it felt like Sidney isn't the main character anymore. In Scream 4, she was very much still the main character who we as the audience are supposed to care about (even with Emma Roberts being set up to be the new leading lady). I liked that this movie felt like a true ode to the fans of the original unlike the other sequels. Is this movie perfect? No lol, but I enjoyed it a lot. Which you know for a part 5 in a horror movie franchise is way more than we should be asking for. I'm looking at you Friday the 13th A New Beginning
Did you also know that David Arquette was a professional wrestler? Yeah. That was a thing ever since Ready to Rumble (2000).
This guy's done it all
@@DavidMartinez-ce3lp I felt so bad bitching about him winning the WCW title in 2000 because, in reality, the man isn't just some celebrity doing wrestling like Jon Heder did once. He actually seems dedicated to being a wrestler. The man fought Nick f@cking Gage for Christ's sake and Nick Gage is Hardcore as hell.
Back in 00 he wasn't a wrestler. He was an entertainer. But he is a pro wrestler now
@@theshakter Yeah, I know. But, at the time, I didn't think he cared about the business as much as he actually did.
And a break dancer....no joke
Scream 1 will always be the best to me. Great twist and had you thinking for the first time that it could have been anyone not just a random killer outside of the group.
I agree, my video review says it all!
5 was my favorite sequel. The nostalgia made me love it more.
didn't expect such a favorable review I'm going to have to check it out now
Im glad it's not getting trashed. I was worried
Thank you for pointing out the obvious of the fingerpointing shit. An issue i had in the tv show as well. If a close friend accused me of the killer I would be taken back and hurt by it and I would probably not be friends with them anymore.
Scream 5 tries to be the first film again and yet opens a new chapter to this franchise satisfyingly. Interesting watching this one for the first time after seeing the new one too.
Based on my first impressions alone I really enjoyed Scream 5. There are some major eye roll moments regarding plot armor/deus ex machina type of stuff. But ultimately it's does what scream movies do well, and that's to be self aware, contain heaps of pop culture references and show some thrilling moments. It's a good watch. Ranking them I'd put it smack in the middle (more or less a tie with Scream 2, because I'm indecisive). 1. Scream 2. Scream 4 3. Scream 5 4. Scream 2 5. Scream 3
Jeremy, I was very intrigued by the beginning of the movie. I thought that was the best opening since the original. They had me right there. Jenna Ortega is a scene-stealer. She was great. The second act lagged a little (minus the big moment), but it still had my attention. What ruined it for me was that third act. While it's a bloody good time, the reveal of the killer just fell completely flat. It made no sense at all. There was no motive here. If there was, it was derivative. Also, there's no freakin' way that person could do what Ghostface did in here. No way. It's a good time and it pulls at the heart strings a little, but the end is just so bad. I expected better than that. Admittedly, I had a scenario in my head that I thought for sure was gonna happen, but never did. Had that been the case, this movie would have been outstanding. I also wish they would get more creative with the kills. They never do that. It's the same thing every movie. I didn't hate it, but I certainly didn't love it either.
I absolutely agree with you . Also i feel like we didn’t get to know the characters well enough to even care who it was ?? I loved the movie and SCREAM will always be my favorite no matter what . But I feel like the killer could of been anyone else
There was a motive. May or may not have not been the best one, but it's there. But also, just out of curiosity to see if I'm not alone in this thought, did your scenario also include the return of a particular face as Ghostface?
Agree 100%. I’m glad the lackluster 3rd act ending didn’t ruin the movie for you, but unfortunately, it ruined it for me. The acting was actually great for most actors, I thought it was going to be impossible for them trying to squeeze some personality into the characters with the very limiting script, so with what little the actors had to work with, everyone did a super job, with the exception of one or two(Mikey Madison and Sonia Ben Ammar - they weren’t terrible, but I found Mikey’s chaeacter insufferable from the beginning, I think the actress just was over-acting through a lot of it, and Sonia’s character was just a bit of a wallflower - their characters didn’t have a lot of personality, that could be the director’s intent though). I’m just a disappointed Scream fan here, and I was so unimpressed with the outcome of anything about the reveal, that it, along with a couple other factors, actually brought my rating of the movie down from an 8 to like a 5. They made a solid effort though, but they a) launched into the blood and guts from the get-go so that’s really all that the characters talked about, so we couldnt really get to know the new characters at all other than what they exhibited in their mannerisms b) didn’t have much of any comedic relief or charm or wittiness, which was what I liked about the original 1, 2, and 4 c) terrible ending. I don’t know, They just really missed the mark there. 🥴
@@mp3holder94 I feel like that might explain why I didn't really feel anything during the reveal except confusion, lol. I was like...there has to be another killer in addition to what they gave us here, right? Nope.
@@TheInsaniacGuy Short answer: Yes. Lol. It would have been soooooo much better had it been like him and his son.

I have the same movie rankings. I enjoyed scream 4, but definitely couldn’t put it above the original.
Loved the nod to "Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood" at the end!
I watched the movie in the Cinema yesterday, it has been the first Movie i been looking forward to for quite a long time and it definitely didn't disappoint....i thought the kills would be less gruesome again, but Jeremy is completely right, the Killer and the kills are insanely good this time around, def the movies strongest point....as a long time scream fan i absolutely loved it
Love reading people's comments that are my exact thoughts! 😊 this is the first movie that's got me into a cinema in well over a year. Loved it, my expectations were non existent but the movie delivered on basically every level. Some genuinely intense, scary scenes, possibly the most ruthless ghostface yet and some laugh out loud moments for good measure. As soon as it finished I was thinking to myself this is my favourite after the first. Never thought I'd be saying that about a Scream sequel in 2022.
One killer was very predictable and one wasn't even developed enough to be an option. It's like Clint Eastwoods Blood Work. There's 3 characters in the movie. 1 is Eastwood, a detective trying to find the killer. 2 is his love interest. And 3rd is Jeff Daniel's. It's like gee I wonder who the killer is. This movie gave us 10+ options to pick from, but if you don't develop them, one pick is just as good as the next. There's no revelation. "Oh. Her? Hmm. Ok. I guess. Don't really know much about her. Could've been this character and I would've been just as shocked."
I feel this film has potential since the scream films were always commentary on tropes, and we have a buttload of new tropes they can play with.
This was a well made movie. Great creative team. Been keeping my eye on them since Ready or Not.

I really liked this movie. I found Sam as a very interesting character, the new characters were entertaining to watch, the kills triggered my anxiety. My only negative is Cindy isn't in the movie as much as I like, I wish her and Sam had more interesting scenes with each other. But overall I really liked this movie

This is also my ranking. I enjoyed this movie better than 4. 4 had a better killer reveal but scream 5 overall was more entertaining to me
Thats how I put them in my order , but I think scream 4 was the worst. Scream 5 was really good. I liked the plot , had a lot of twists but a shame they went and did that
this would be my ranking to, 3 was the worst imo
Scream 3 is my favourite! My ranking would be SCREAM 3 SCREAM (1996) SCREAM 2 SCREAM (2022) SCREAM 4
@@Bd-dt5mq why is it your favorite?
My biggest critique was the fact that it apparently takes forever to get anywhere in Woodsboro. It went from daytime to nighttime to get to the hospital the second time around. And it makes zero sense that the little girl was able to not only kill Dewey but actually lift him off the ground. And then get back to the party before everyone else did. Beyond that, yes, the movie was a pretty good time. The self-awareness and one-liners had me cracking up for sure. Best line of the movie… Enjoy the torch. LOL.
I loved it! I think all your points were valid though. The kills were fucking awesome
SPOILER AHEAD..............I think something nobody is really talking about some of these killers are just totally unbelievable from a height and weight perspective. they did the same thing in 4. The killer in the costume is tall and at least has a build that is believable. Then during the reveal these girls look like they are swimming in the costume. Im all about suspending belief, but come on. Other then that I appreciated how self aware it still was, and it had enough of a balance of comedy and horror. I think the first 2 films were just able to capture a tone that I still havent gotten in the newer ones.
I guessed it was her in the first 15 minutes and I went in saying I hope the killer isn't a tiny chick again so I was pretty disappointed at the reveal. She even says she's the one who killed Dewey and that person was like the same size as him and lifted him up like it was nothing. The chick with the dyed hair would've been more believable because she's taller.
I hated the killers in this one. The only movies that had good killers were the first 3 films
Damn y’all out here spoiling didn’t this movie just come out
@@GiggityGoo205 100% agree. When she said she was the one that did that I was like no. That doesnt match up whatsoever. Dewey would have taken her out in 2 seconds.

Just went and saw this movie today and thought it was more of a "You'd Probably Enjoy It Alot More, If You Were Drunk" Than a "Fun Time No Alcohol Required". Love the OG Cast, Some Great Kills and there were some genuinely sad moments, but a bunch of other things that made me feeling really annoyed and let down by this movie.

I loved this movie. It’s my favorite since the original. I get why the finger pointing bothered you, but I bought it because this has happened so many times in Woodsboro, that even friends would become paranoid and start to turn on each other. The story and script both subverted and met expectations at just the right times, and the movie has VERY well-directed kills. Radio Silence’s over-the-top approach amplified both tension and horror at just the right times, and i was surprised by the character drama that landed much better here than it did in previous scream sequels.
