Rare Rusty BATTLE VIKING Axe Restoration

Hello folks! Incredible! I found a rate axe with the shape of a viking battle axe! It was created by a blacksmith! This is not a factory release. The price was small about USD $8. When I saw that axe head I made decision instantly it's should be mine! Well, in restoration process the first stem was an electrolysis, to remove all rust from the axe head, then I used anglegrinder two remover dark layer from the blade.
Also, I used random sanding machine with few sandpapers and finally leave axe in iron chloride to add little of dark color. The handle of the axe, I made from walnut. The Scandinavian battle axe was from 90 cm to 120 cm. I choose the 1 m. When the ax handle ready I used two component paint and linseed oil. Old for handle wrap I used a leather, glue and two nails with epic had.
End finally I made crazy test for my new two handed viking battle axe. I hope you enjoy this restoration project. Thank you for attention!
Sincerely, Alex. Thanks for attention!
Good luck and health to everyone! With best wishes, Alex!

  • 👍👌👏 Very well done! I'm really really glad and pleased that you didn't over-restored the blade (like a lot of KZheadrs unfortunately do). Because such an old hand forged piece never had a mirror finish surface (not even if brand new). Thanks a lot for making teaching recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards, luck and health.

    • Viking moving shield wall tactics used alongside the originals of this type rendered static shield defenses useless. Big ole turtle of shields with protected Vikings beneath it could walk safely right up to your line and poke you with a stick. Many military historians consider that tactic the origins of modern mechanized infantry tactics.

    @homedaily6570@homedaily65702 жыл бұрын
  • As a war weapon is assert it better serves to orient the handle so the "horn" is on top, pointing upwards when the bottom of the handle is down when held vertically so that the axe wielder can capture the enemy's weapon as it comes downward or from the lateral side, on its curvature, redirect it the enemy's weapon away from its original line of attack which leaves the cutting edge nearest to the enemy for parry, slash, thrust etc. This could also 'chop wood' but it is presumably not designed as a firewood axe. I would add that you test a mock battle with both configurations and find with is more pragmatic. Thanks
