  • According to the video, I can just use a needle or something and pry the coin detector thingy up in order to fool the gumball machine.

  • 2:03 There is a similar mechanism on roller coaster lift hills. The ratchet gear teeth are arranged next to the lift chain, and the pawl is situated underneath the coaster train (it’s called a chain dog). As the train is pulled up by the chain, the pawl is dragged along the teeth which is what makes the clicking sound you hear as you go up. If the chain stops for any reason, the maximum distance the train can roll back is the distance between each tooth, as the pawl will fall back into the teeth and stop the train.

  • As a kid we would go into grocery stores and steal the plastic bread tabs off bags of bread. Go outside and shave the down to quarter dimension on the pavement. Go back into the grocery store and use our tabs as quarters. Worked 100% of the time. Sometimes they got stuck in the slot and it was all you and your friends could grab before the manager chased us aways. Classic 1980's kids stuff

    • How about using a coin shaped neodymium magnet? Since it's magnetic, the magnet shouldn't fall off if the rotating thingy is made of magnetic metal. That way, you should be to turn it forever and when you're done, pull the magnet with another magnet.
