    • Why didn't you ask the "anti-feminists" how they identify? It seems like a really bad choice of word framing. No?

    • Just FYI- this comment has feminists spelled correctly (s at the end for plural), but the title of the video makes it seem like it’s one singular feminist on each side. Add the “s” to make it plural, please! :)

    • @@Natttttttttt All you have to do is say what "it" is genius. The statistical majority of victims of violence are men. The majority of men, over 99 percent, are not violent. (about .02% in the US are violent, going by arrest records). Bystanders are more likely to intervene in emergencies or attacks to protect women, and criminal cases with female victims get more follow up and media coverage and are more often solved, with harsher punishments. Violent criminals target men more, and this is one of the reasons. Society exists. It is not just a bunch of mammals of varying physical size. Many violent criminals are not big. Women beat and delete children at a higher rate, despite on average being smaller than men. Of course, by your standard, men of east Asian descent deserve the same consideration as women of west African descent, or, maybe public safety should just go by weight classes?

Why would that be a problem? The only problem I see is that society doesn't value me and my work on the same level as someone who works. Clearly they aren’t for you and thats ok. The fact they were trying to frame the departure of gender roles as what is throwing our society in choas… its just laughable. We’re in chaos specifically bc people don’t know how to mind their business and let others be. This is a prime example. While some of these women are sitting here trying to rigidly police how men and women should interact with one another, others are fighting a bigger battle to let all women (and men) be who they choose. Whether that fits the societal norm or not. The anti feminist side just came across as really self serving and not mindful of how these gender norms have contributed to sterotypes that are commonly used to label and dismiss people who don’t fit them.

  • Rahan touting the Persian Gulf countries as a place where women are universally happier is laughable. Until very recently, women in Saudi Arabia weren't even allowed to drive (a bunch were even imprisoned and subjected to inhumane conditions for daring to do so), they weren't even allowed to travel even within the country without a male guardian or without a male guardian's consent. Freedom of speech and the press are heavily censored in those countries and dissent against the rulers is brutally suppressed. And the state of welfare and protections there for the migrant workers from overseas, especially female workers, the workers whose labour basically make their societies run, is abysmal. That side talks a big game about focusing more on so-called larger issues faced by other people around the world that they deem to be more oppressed, but then fails to acknowledge huge groups of said oppressed people that they think we're all supposed to care about and also fails to even do a basic examination of how that rosy, apparently happy lifestyle that Gulf women supposedly live is built upon exploitation of both natural resources and of poor people.

    • This comment rubs me so wrong. People make mistakes. You probably have made so many mistakes in your life, wouldn’t YOU want them to forgive you ? No ones a saint. Forgiveness is usually more so for your inner peace, rather than the said person. You can never be at peace if you judge others so harsh expecting them to treat you nice. This is what makes us human and keeps the society thriving or else the world would’ve ended long ago.

Despite still not agreeing with her, I don’t think she meant patriarchy only originated in the west. “…especially in the west, through colonialism” There’s lots of miscommunication even in the comments. Some are meaning the word/concept of patriarchy, others mean a permeating global culture.
