  • I have a question I’m debating on waiting for the model Y juniper or finding a used X model . I see the new Y won’t be out till end of 2024, the new air suspension in the Juniper y sounds like something to wait for. I can’t find the specs for the suspension on the 2022 or later X model to see what that is. Would love to hear your thoughts on should I get the X now or wait for Juniper, I realize this is a very subjective question. Can’t afford a new X looking at something with 3000 miles around 65,000. What would you all do? Thanks.

  • Just found a really nice hidden feature. While getting ppf applied on the new Model Yp, my wife and I were both curious about the goings on at the installers shop. So was looking at the cameras quite often when I was out of town. My wife was doing the same. So the hidden feature is that you can be cut off by your sentry mode by watch the video too much. This help insure that you won’t be using a lot of bandwidth of teslas and cost them too much money or bandwidth. Once you are cut off, it is no longer possible to check the security of your car for the rest of the day. This is extremely helpful when curious about your car when you see the door open later that night. You will remain curious.

  • I am not sure where do i report issues i think need improvement on my Model 3. #1 the driver side wiper washer is set too high on the blade or there should be an additional lower nozzle. When driving with washer on the lower part of the windshield does no get any wash. #2 i have a blue color Modell 3 with black door handles. You cannot see the handles when dark- at night. This leads to fumbling around at night which is awkward and can be dangerous if someone is stalking you, The handles should be lit or glow when approaching or pop out like the original model S. Maybe you can do a post / video to Tesla criticizing. thanks

  • Nicely done! Just FYI: pressing and holding the P button makes the icon appear, but isn’t necessary for applying the “e brake.” The e brake is on whenever the car is in Park-it’s how Park works since there’s no multi-speed transmission. The e brake IS Park, and it actually just uses the rear calipers-same ones that squeeze when you press the brake pedal.

    • Are you sure? I feel like there is an audible engagement and a more solid feel when manually activating the e-brake.

    • True and the "hidden" (although technically not hidden since it's documented) feature is that when you hold down the brake, and the car goes into Hold mode, you can simply get out of the car. Hold keeps it from rolling away, and getting out will cause the car to put itself in Park and apply the parking brake.

    • @@123pathTube In order to keep the car from rolling away, and to keep things from failing if the car loses power or anything else, the parking brake is essentially screwed closed when it's applied. It's done by a motor. If the parking brake is applied, the car won't move. Tesla doesn't make it clear what happens when the button is held and there's a lot of debate about it.

  • Most new cars have the automatic, turning off the turn signals if you just slightly push on the stick when changing a lane and using a blinker, but don’t push it all the way it will blink three times

  • Thanks for the tip about the auto-cancelling turn signals. Didn't know it was there - turned it on right away. The tip about charging i disagree with. For supercharging of course you want it quick as possible. But the faster you charge, the more you degrade the battery. So only supercharge when you need to, on the go. Whenever charching at home, charge as slow as your (overnight) stay will allow for. Or if you want low tarrifs: don't start charging right away but have the app set up to charge in super off peak hours. If you leave the car for a few days, charge it to 50% (optimal storage charge) and charge it further only right before you need to use it again. This further slows down battery degredation.

    • You CAN charge at a slower rate at chargers (if you want to) by using the app. Just change the amp setting to a lower one and it will take longer to charge. This can be handy if you are at a shopping center and plan to be there for a couple of hours, but don't want to have to move the car in the middle of your shopping (or eating). Just lower the charging rate and look at the new 'remaining time to charge limit'.

    • That's not completely accurate either. If you want to charge as slowly as possible at home, using a 120V plug will do that, but it's far less efficient than 240V. Using an NEMA 14-50 outlet or a Tesla wall connector will be more efficient, and lowering the amperage won't have a negative impact. Charging when the battery is cool could have a minor effect, but if you have night rates, you're still better off letting your car charge off peak, even if it cooled down. As far as battery degradation from charging at home, the rate even at 80A (not an option for the 3, Y or any recent Tesla) isn't fast enough compared to a Supercharger for affect degradation to any significant degree. My 2014 has lost 11 miles of range at 90%, which is effectively meaningless day to day, and won't add a single extra charging stop to a long trip, nor is it likely to make a charging stop longer, assuming that I'm stopped for any other reason, such as eating or using a restroom.

    • Tesla battery degradation is not accelerated by frequent Supercharging, which was previously thought, according to an extensive new study. It has long been believed in the industry that frequent DC fast charging is bad for battery longevity; even Tesla used to warn against it.
