  • For all to wonder the travel on the sidewalk/bikelane... The bridge has signs that pedestrians can expect emergency cars/trucks there.. it's made for them because the bridge itself is usually jammed by traffic

  • I have a question: I’m in the USA and I’m wondering what hose sizes (diameter) are used by Dutch fire brigades? Here in the USA the most common size for attack lines is 1.75 inches. Hydrant supply lines are often 5 inches.

    • Dan Nash Hi, I did some research. Attack lines are most commonly 2.05 inch (ca. 52 mm). However, in this video you can see a new type of attack lines called O-bundle (see 13:06 at the right). The traditional attack lines are the red ones rolled up but an inch smaller than the ones you can see at 8:56 . Fire stations in (downtown) cities switch to O-bundles because they are lighter and easier to use in high buildings. [Under Dutch building law it's mandatory to have a dry riser (steel pipe in a building where a fire engine can connect to) if a building is higher than 20 meters (ca. 66 feet ft). Firemen can connect their attack lines to these pipes and save a lot of time and effort] The basic water supply ones are 3 inch (ca. 75 mm) (the line you can see at 8:56). Depending on the situation 1 or 2 lines are connected between the hydrant and the engine. If it's a big, long-lasting fire (without good/enough water supply) there is special water supply line that can be set up between the fire and for example a channel or a lake. It has a width of 6 inch and the length differs between 0.6 mi to 1.6 mi. The black lines you can see at 7:30 are 4 to 4.5 inch. These are special for fires that happen near a channel, lake, groundwater well or a see/river/port in this case (That happens a lot in The Netherlands 😁). Pumping your own water is (especially during a large fire) a advantage because the hydrant network can't handle delivering water to multiple engines without getting pressure loss. Hope you understand it :)

    • They DOES have to stop, but they dont because they consider their own daily live more important. Most people dont use their eyes, they only look where they going, never take a look in the rear view mirrors, nearly soundproof cars and and a loud radio.....

    • Johan, it’s a rule for traffic that emergency services are given priority. That could mean stop, but also moving to the sides. Stopping is not always the best option, especially in single lane roads. :)

    • If you mean the colours on the shoulders. Red if for the crew commander (1 crew = 1 engine), blue is for the overall officer he is coordinating all the crews that are present on scene. No colors (your gold) are the regular firefighters.

    • @@brianbuilder If I remember it correctly those are the older uniforms and will be replaced bij the gold/yellow ones you see commonly in recent videos (they are not that quick replacing equipment and there are priorities of course).

    • Ik verwacht in en uitvoer, als de wagen het water zuigt zou een rode slang vacuum kunnen zuigen en de zwarte heeft dezelfde ribbels als een stofzuigerslang waardoor deze niet vacuum zuigt/zn ronde vorm behoudt. Maar ik ben geen expert

    • geen idee of je al echt antwoord gehad heb maar de zwarte slang wordt gebruikt om water uit meren, rivieren en dergelijke te halen. de rode (75mm diameter) wordt gebruikt om de tankwagen te voorzien van water vanaf een ondergrondse waterwinning, waterput in de straat of ergens anders, hiervoor is wel een opzetstuk nodig. de rode slang (75mm) wordt ook gebruikt om vanaf de tankauto naar een verdeelstuk te gaan en vanaf daar een rode slang (52mm) met spuitstuk om een brand te blussen of wat anders. kort samengevat: zwarte slang alle oppervlakte wateren: zee, rivier, beek, meer rode slang: ondergrondse waterwinning d.m.v. opzetstuk. 75mm is toevoer water, 52mm is afvoer water

    • Because they first have to assess the situation. Not every fire can easily be put out with water, and the direction etc. is important to consider.

  • Ik snap niet dat met ontwerp van wegen geen rekening gehouden wordt met hulpverleningsvoertuigen. Zoals ze in de USA bijv. Firelane's hebben : kzhead.info/sun/dpidqbSfamt8nnk/bejne.html .     • In Amerika is natuurlijk meer ruimte voor grote wegen met verschillende 'lanes' voor OV / hulpdiensten, in Nederland hebben we die overigens ook maar minder. Hier wordt dat probleem opgelost door over het fietspad te rijden, wat ook specifiek staat aangegeven bij de brug (hulpdiensten mogelijk over fietspad).

    • Dat is ook wel nodig daar want bij de Amerikaanse brandweer is efficiënt of snelheid niet echt een kernwoord. Niet in de actie en ook niet in het ontwerp van de voertuigen. Met die DAF LF'jes gaat het hier allemaal wat makkelijker.

    • Klopt, er was opgeschaald naar een grote brand dus deze tankautospuit kwam van een verder gelegen kazerne ter ondersteuning.

  • Waarom heeft de OvD een blauwe lap ipv oranje? Waarom zijn er zo weinig busbanen waar jullie overheen kunnen? Het is altijd druk in de stad. Daar moet dan toch iets fatsoenlijks voor bussen en hulpverleningsvoertuigen zijn? De bestuurder van die grijze auto... Daar werd ik niet vrolijk van. Die was echt niet bezig met wat er rond die auto gebeurde. En, o ja, dat versnellen, daar zijn al genoeg reacties op geweest.

  • Wat is dit kut zeg met die pleuris muziek er onder. Doe maar gewoon niet. Lekker met de sirene rijden is veel beter dan die schijt muziek er onder. Gemiste kans jammer.

    • Every ladder truck deployment takes time. It doesn't matter if it's European or the American type of ladder truck. They both take time to deploy.
