Gil's Arena RIPS Charles Barkley For Defending Darvin Ham

Gil's Arena RIPS Charles Barkley For Defending Darvin Ham as Gilbert Arenas & The Gil's Arena Crew react to Chuck blaming players like LeBron James, Anthony Davis & Kevin Durant over coaches like Darvin Ham & Frank Vogel for the early exits of the Los Angeles Lakers & Phoenix Suns from the NBA Playoffs. Gil destroys Barkley for not taking accountability in his own career and changes his tone once he reached the NBA media on Inside the NBA.
Gil’s Arena premieres every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 11:30am PT / 2:30pm ET.

  • Barkley's point is all these "podcaster ex-players" never put any accountability on players. They rely on players making appearances on their podcasts for views so are less critical of them. Gil is 100% one of them, pretty much always blaming coaches and GM's.

      @aking2330@aking233020 күн бұрын
    • @@aking2330 I think it was too early to fire Ham. He needed more time with this team. In addition...there is no way Lakers actually thought they were contenders with a 40 year old Lebron. If they did, they're delusional. To that point, Darvin Ham could have done better reeling his team back in to run the sets that were advantageous to their matchup. The same could also be said for Lebron and his "Great IQ". Denver could not stop the Bron-AD pick n roll...why didn't Ham reinforce getting into that action? Why didn't Lebron himself go back to those sets? Darvin Ham is not playing for lebron as he gets backdoor cut by Gordon 5x a game. Darvin Ham not playing for Lebron watching him box out assignments in key moments of the game. Darvin Ham is not playing for Lebron watching him argue a foul/no call and not getting back on defense. I think some blame can be placed on both because the responsibilities lies with everyone...however i don't think Darvin should have been the scapegoat.

  • Everything is not Darvin Hams fault. We have to get out of this all or nothing culture. Its either the coaches fault or the players.. its everybody's fault. Hams rotations, play calling, game management and adjustments were not good. Bruh LA was running last years adjustments in this years playoffs and didnt add anything other than 1 defensive recovery scheme. The team and the execs were not confident in the coach...that was the issue and LA was a 48 win team. Injuries played a role, i think a healthy Vando and Reddish significantly improves the defense and give AR and Rui more offensive energy. With all that said, its unfortunate but I get it.

  • I’m a diehard lakers fan since the Magic & Kareem era. The issue with the Lakers has always been the lack of value they place on role players and draft picks. They are only means to get Super Stars. The bubble title team (regardless of if you chose to count it) was clearly the best time in the league before the COVID lockdown. They won the title and moved the whole team, except for Kuzma and Caldwell Pope. They then moved them for Westbrook. The bubble then was not quite, but the deepest them since the 2009 Laker team. The coaches GM and players are all accountable for a team winning or losing.

  • It’s crazy to me how the coaches get more blame & criticism than the actual players on the court. Darvin Ham last year took over a team with a disgruntled Westbrook and convinced him to come off the bench, had a brand new team at the trade deadline & made it all the way to the WCF, this year all of a sudden everybody hates him & he doesn’t know how to coach anymore? Bruh Ham didn’t force Austin Reaves to only have 2 decent games in the playoffs, he didn’t force AD to disappear every fourth quarter against Denver, he didn’t force Lebron to play iso ball & not play defense, the lakers had the FOURTH MOST INJURIES in the league this season, DLO played terrible to start the season which is why he was in trade talks, Rui disappeared in the playoffs on top of being an absolute CONE defensively, Gabe Vincent, Vando, & Wood never even got healthy enough to be factors all season Say whatever bullshit you want about “Timeouts” or “Challenges” or whatever minimal shit you can blame EVERY COACH for but the lakers lost to ONE TEAM these last two seasons a team that nobody else has beaten when it mattered but hey let’s ignore all that an hire the fourth coach in 7 seasons let’s find our 7th coach in 15 seasons 🫠 I’m so tired of the lakers man this LeBron tenure has been a shit show fr

For the Suns, roles weren't defined because you have three ball dominated players but they are your best players. How do you create a system off that?! And none of them really want to do too much outside of scoring. On the other hand, the Lakers, for many of its players, lacks the understanding of playing within space...making plays, especially Rui. Rui doesn't know how to read actions well from my observation. The Lakers lack intelligence of fundamental basketball. And LeBron doesn't fully commit on either side of the basketball. He's a mess.

Then I noticed many of the plays the teams was not engaged on going going after rebounds or switching on defense and fighting threw screens. They didn't have motivation and or drive most of the season. So when that happens you wonder what's going on to cause this. It could be the teams leadership positions like the GM or Owner. Could be the players themselves ain't motivated for certain reasons. Last is the chemistry. Some players fit everywhere however chemistry with a team that's been together for a few years is going to collaborate better then sone team that just got thrown together. This is a big difference on turnovers and the team working g together to read a defense.
