Charles was so close in every round. The guillotine in the first. He got a triangle armbar in the last seconds of round 2. The d’Arce in round 3. I wanted him to win so bad. Respect to Arman, he did a phenomenal job!

I am Charles fan, both had their moments, Charles won first round but to be honest tsarukyan won overall and I was quite sure about it after third round finished. I expected more from Oliviera in striking.

Damage never “trumped all” This is a myth due to a misunderstanding of the rules. According to the wording of the rules and according to Big John who clarified the meaning of the rules back in 2016 when they were rewritten, the judges are SUPPOSED to be looking for which fighter is doing the most to impact the fight and bring the fight closer to an end

If you control someone for 4 1/2 minutes not doing much, but then you get dropped in the last 10 seconds, then you lose that round. So yes, damage by and large trumps all.

It was a close fight but Arman deserved the win. He showed that he wanted it more than Oliveira. Olives' submission attempt in round 3 wasn't fully locked in and shouldn't outscore what Arman did on the ground.

If I'm not wrong the type of choke the Armin was on doesn't work unless you are on your side, when it looks like Armin went limb, it was him putting his stomach to the floor so Oliveira couldn't rotate him to his side. I would say he was actually chilling.

Going limp during a darce choke is a defense. It looked like he did that and got concerned it looked like he was choked out so he changed it. But that is a solid defense to that choke, being flat face down, not letting it sink in full.

Control time is important. Arman was never in danger he came out of Olivieras choke attempt. Many fighters wouldn't make it. Even if the last round had time Arman would relieve himself from the choke. He was just getting the time to finish and was completely conscious. Charles may get tired and will lose his hold. Also Arman dominated most fight. Charles was the one who got bled

If each submission attempt is the closest the fight gets to being finished, AND they happen in different rounds, then yeah that fighter wins 2 rounds. Even if they're being out struck the entire time Not saying I agree with it, but according to the rules that's how rounds are scored.

Having a round as 10-10 is super rare in MMA, and that 3rd round did not look like a 10-10 round at all. It can go either way, but not a 10-10.

Yeah it doesn't make sense to me that he went out and came back with the choke still there, and the way got up effortlessly at the end of the round tells me he wasn't close to going out at the end either, and that the choke probably wasn't too tight to begin with. I wouldn't say choke steals the round. I had it Arman 29-28 watching live and I think that was the correct result.
