Mavis laying it down with funky style! Still my favourite OST hit from the Poitier & Cosby trilogy of Uptown Saturday Night, Let's Do It Again and "A Piece Of The Action". From an era where music was all about the vocal talent, the musical genius and not how much flesh or booty you can get into your video: a time when artists only needed radio. There's no school like the 'Old School'.

What a classic hit!
Most underrated voice EVER!
Why have I only just discovered this beautiful piece of gem at nearly 40 years old. The movie brought me here. Absolutely beautiful.
Mavis and Mayfield! Man I can't take it. What a bass line and the subtle string arrangements
I just watched this movie the other day. I absolutely Love her voice.😍😍😍😍
Gone Mavis!!!! One of the best songs of Curtis and my girl Mavis!!!! Yesssss!
Delicious! Delicious! Delicious! Delicious!
Awesome Saw "A Piece of the Action in 1974 at the Apollo Theater in Harlem as a child and I remember it like it was yesterday! This song brings back good memories. I love it. Sing it sister!!!!
Just watched "A Piece of The Action" and lemme say that I feel so at home!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Grown folks music! So you want a trip, well baby check out my hips! Delicious main attraction! Sweet damn thang! I got it hot in the pot, drop it on me from the top! Curtis wrote and Mavis delivered it.
Mavis Staples is the truth
My Dad took my Brother and I to see this a Rochdale village movie theater in Jamaica queens.. The music from all the Sydney Pontiac movies have always touched me kind of shaped different parts of my life.
Mavis is feelin' those lyrics......

Curtis flipped the script on this monster and gives up a woman's perspective when she encounters a delicious main attraction! Don't need to understand myself 💦🔥

Ms. Mavis is my favorite female singer of ALL TIME! She’s up there with the best of the best! Lack of press coverage does not take one iota of talent and pure SOUL in her voice! Prince said it best, “Mavis’ voice is the essence of SOUL!” #♥️MavisStaples @MzSherice202
THE BEST TUNE ever put on a soundtrack PERIOD!!!! Naturally, this is a Curtis Mayfield joint..........
