I love this new version, it actually shows how a teenage girl in her youngster age that have problems to face the world and have disagreements with mom because our differences but then again we actually care about each other
I disagree. Morticia and Wednesday have always had great chemistry, Wednesday never disliked her mother or would have valid reason too. It was strange to see that because Morticia has never been a bad mother or tried to force her children to do anything. I feel like this version just made up problems that don’t exist. It’s like Riverdale making up storylines that don’t fit the comics. Mothers and daughters can 100% have a great relationship with out having big issues. I didn’t like it because it was very typical teenage writing that simply, won’t age well or be classic.

@@topkek4223 isn't that the point of the show? No matter how strange Wednesdays is or for any person similar to her are, they're bound to experience teenage phases. This is through the lens/perspective of Wednesday, a non-typical teenager going through a teenage phase in a bizarre setting. It shows how she deals with all that despite seeing herself as above those 'trivial' issues or 'irrelevant' drama
@@norialt8771 I mean, not necessarily again it doesn’t make any sense for Wednesday to randomly dislike her parents, specifically have so much distain for her mother when in reality their relationship even if she was a teenager would be like Rory and Lorelai from Gilmore girls S1-3. The whole point of the Addams family is that they’re all weird and they all love each other because they can all understand what it’s like to be an outcast. Wednesday can’t be an outcast from her family of outcast. It would only make sense if Wednesday was a prep and didn’t want to be a weirdo and K but that’s not the case she still a K and weirdo but for some reason thinks she can’t relate to her parents who are also k and weirdos? Teenagers randomly disliking their amazing parents who care about them is such an overused and weird stereotype and makes characters unlikable when in reality kids with good parents don’t have issues with them even as teenagers. Again, it’s literally just Riverdale writing. They should’ve just made a completely new series instead of using the name of a series with good source material and completely throwing away the good source material.
@@topkek4223 Well, she didn't randomly dislike her parents. I can't really say it's factual, but my reasoning would be that with Wednesday's personality, she doesn't want to conform to anyone's standard or plans for her. She has her own vision and end goal, and she strongly holds on to them. I think that's what became her issue with her mother. I don't think it was off for Morticia to send them to that school either, even though Wednesday hated the idea. I haven't read the comics, but basing it off on the original TV series, Gomez and Morticia even sent them to school for the first time. Of course, it didn't go well but that's because it was a school filled with normies and social conventions. But I get your point. The Addams Family is far above highschool drama. It shouldn't even have crossed their mind. I just find it interesting because there's finally a show where we see the perspective of what it's like for a strange girl like Wednesday to go through that teenage phase - one where she tries to break said trope, but gets tied to it instead. It brings out a new side to her, and it allows her to develop as a character.

I wasn't sold on Catherine ZJ's Morticia at first, but after watching the whole series I loved what she did with character. Top marks.
Addams Family is one of my favorite all time movies.. the 90's version just kept me laughing for hours. this new is great too
I actually really enjoyed the casting for Gomez and Morticia in this show. I feel like they were much more off-putting than in the movies, which fits the theme of the show perfectly. I think that some people are too caught up in the idea that they “aren’t Angelica Huston or Raul Julia,” which is completely unfair to these new actors. How about we stop comparing the actors, since this tv show doesn’t have anything to do with the movies, and instead appreciate what they bring to this new take on the story? This implies that nothing should ever be changed about the originals and just keep it the same over the years. This, is stupid. I understand that people are allowed to dislike actors based on their performance in the film/show. However, this hatred shouldn’t be based on how poorly they fit the standards set by the originals. So, if you didn’t like the casting, go stick with the original and don’t watch the new one! 😊
people who love addams family watch addams family whereever they can find it. and they will judge each film tv series as they wish because they are the true fans of the story and characters. they understand better.

although I must confess that I have not yet watched the series Wednesday has Morticia rating would only take into account what is presented here in the clips and so Catharine is undoubtedly a brilliant actress who has proven herself in many films and, above all, a beautiful woman, but taking into account the serial Morticia with the cinema version, unfortunately, in my opinion, there is something missing from the character played by Catharine. Above all, the brilliant Anjelica Huston playing the character of Morticia had this look in her that was on the one hand disturbing and on the other intriguing, and with her very calm body movements she gave a lot of suggestions as to who she really is, so you could feel that she's not quite human, but closer to a witch. In Catharine's case, unfortunately, this is missing, which makes the series' Morticia seem very, or maybe even too, human, which makes her seem like a calm mother who can't really understand her daughter rather than be her mother and nurture in her the importance of being Addams, and while Anjelica in the film had a kind of pale complexion which perfectly added to her ghostly character, in Catharine's case her too normal complexion doesn't spoil her being Addams.

…I would watch the show because Morticia being more human is to directly contrast Wednesday's unempathetic nature, along with a few other things. So uh. Outside of context, you're gonna be missing that.
Being offended by an implication of guilt of murder, then being proud of your daughter for grave digging (and chiding her for ATTEMPTED murder instead of successful murder) are unrealistic. I blame the writers

Because if this is how the characters felt they shouldve said it since thats sort of a staple of them at least in every creation ive seen to where they say or do the unexpected. If they are gonna respond positive to bad stuff only sometimes then that is inconsistent and poor writing.

I feel like the writers for this show really watered down Morticia and Gomez. I get it, it's supposed to be Wednesday-centric, so side characters can't have too much spotlight, but did they really have to turn Gomez into a boring maybe-criminal and Morticia into an overbearing mother? It's basically Riverdale but goth.

Yeah, I'm with you. It would have been nice to see her gliding around and not walking around, but I think she still did a great job! 👍
That can be difficult to replicate since we as humans tend to walk.

I mean I enjoy the family, but not in the new netflix series. It seems very off and very common, since a ton of shows now of teens is of their life in school. It's not the amazing movie and cartoon it use to be. The characters in this seem very off too granted I know that they wouldn't look the same but there can be at least a try. Movies have done a lot of good stuff with makeup man.

Maybe I'm being too picky, but the parents just don't have the same energy as earlier portrayals. There was something special about the way Raul Julia and Anjelica Huston worked together. Lightning in a bottle. That said, I doubt those actors would be affordable for a series like this, or even want to be part of it; assuming they were both still alive.
I remember Raul Julia died of stomach cancer after filming the live action of Street fighter in 1994
1) They’d be way older…so they wouldn’t fit the roles anymore. 2) Raul Julia is dead.

I love this interpretation of the Addams family. They are so much more nuanced a three dimensional. Morticia,, for example, despite being decked out all in black, is a self described "dove', who always sees the good it the people around her.

Anjelica Huston was my fav for morticia. This versions of the Adams Family - Morticia feels lacking, she lacks the grace the other versions carried and dialog doesn't always feel like something she'd say. gomez I like him but prefer the other versions. Everyone else is on point. All and all the show good. The actress for Wednesday carries this show.
Definitely different take. I still love Raul Julia and Anjelica Huston because they're campy, dark, yet wholesome.

As a fan of the original, this show really disappointed me really....the original character will never be like them, I can understand Wednesday change since she now become a teenager but G and M become so different..I don't like this fake couple but the rest of the characters is acceptable and the movie is good too

Ugh, I dislike this version of Morticia and Gomez Addams. The 90’s movie version of them (especially, Morticia) are so much better! I think people just like this show, because it’s a cliche teen drama, you know, two boys fighting for Wednesday, the “I’m not like any other girl,” but she is like any other girl. Ugh. And also, they like the actress who is playing Wednesday. I think she is too society “pretty” to play her. But I will admit, she got Wednesday’s spirit.
