I love her as Morticia in my opinion she is perfect for the role. I like that this Morticia feels real and not overly cartoonish.

Beautiful, yes, but she doesn't talk like Morticia AT ALL... For once, she talks way too fast. Morticia would talk slow and sensual. Zeta Jones talks fast and slow at the wrong times....

I love that Morticia respects Wednesdays' physical boundaries. Wednesday will step forward to allow her mother to still show her affection, but in a way that will always respect her "no touching" rule.🖤 wonderful parenting.
IMO they did the Addams parents really well. She is breathy, regal, ghostly, never raises her voice over a loud whisper and proper matriarch. Silently in power. He is a devoted husband and father, stylish and happily dark. And both are almost insanely, maybe a tad too much, in love with each other. This is how you do these icons justice

I love Luis Guzman as Gomez. The way he looks at his on screen wife. The way he gives his full attention to his on screen daughter. They are all wonderful. I cant wait for season 2!

I enjoyed Catherine’s Morticia. She flowed with her movements and I truly loved her enunciation with her words. The reason why I still prefer Angelica Houston’s Morticia is because Angelica is just superbly natural. I 100% believe she is Morticia. And I didn’t even watch the old movies as a child, I watched them as an adult, so it’s not nostalgia speaking. Angelica is just a higher caliber actress. With Catherine, I can still tell she’s playing a role (even though she did an amazing job). Angelica wasn’t playing. She was Morticia. And of course, ability wise, Angelica’s delivery of Morticia’s dialogue was just perfect with every single word. Her “pastels” exchange alone was a master class in acting. Truly amazing.
Agreed. Love some CZJ but she’s almost too normal for someone who’s far from it. Anjelica understood her assignment implicitly, and knew normal wasn’t the way to go. She absolutely gives a vibe of coming from another dimension.

The casting on this show, and especially Addams family themselves was perfect! Catheryn Zeta-Jones nailed this iteration of Morticia with grace and elegance which radiated charisma. Luis Guzmán Nailed Gomez as well. Jenna Ortega was incredible and I'm sure this role will elevate her much earned career as an actress. Overall even though I love the black & white TV series as a nostalgic childhood experience, Tim Burton showed that you can do so much more with a such concept that when you do it right you can't but adore it.
I am like absolutely obsessed with this. Catherine as Morticia, him as Gomez and Wednesday. The execution is FLAWLESS. Watching every episode 3 or 4 × 2 get all the details

This show was definitely its own style of addams family story. I remember watching the black and white tv show where morticia dressed like wednesday and changed when she married gomez into her iconic dress. I was wondering if they were going through that way. I'm glad they didn't.

Anjelica had the perfect look for morticia
“Like a stately sequoia tree”😂😂 This was said in such a sly way that I almost didn’t catch the slight shadiness lmao. The principal was towering over everyone around her. That’s nothing against the actress, but I remember thinking “damn, that lady is tall” LOL. I really like Morticia’s voice in this version. I’ve never seen the original to compare, but this version is kind of giving off Southern charm with a sprinkle of authority.
Hope we see more of her in season 2, want more of her.

Agreed. The Mother-daughter tension was just lazy unnecessary plot drama, when there was so much more interesting drama going on in this series.
I mean wednesday is a teenager now. Most of us went through that teenager phase when we were not close with our mother. The plot went perfectly.
@@potatowatermelonsalad5631 Yeah but "Addams Family Values" (1991) had similar mother-daughter drama where Morticia sent Wednesday off to a summer camp she hated. Made more sense there because: (A) that was the ONLY parent-child conflict in the story making it interesting, (B) that camp was the complete opposite of everything that is Wednesday so it made more sense Wednesday would hate her mom for sending her there.
@@FunFilmFare yes I understand but “Addams family Values” is when wednesday is around 12 years old. This wednesday on Netflix series is suppose to be 16. A 16 year old has completely different mindset than 12/13 so its makes sense that that they had those teenager phase where she’s not close with her mother. It goes with the plot

I love how in the jail scene when Wednesday has a vision Morticia doesn't freak out because she has similar visions, because you know how parents can kind of freak and overreact when they witness something like that. Also when gomez gives Wednesday a big kiss on the cheek she kind of shmirks at him😂 shes got love in her she just doesn't wanna admit it❤

Sem falar que a química que ela tinha com Raul Julia era fenomenal. Uma boa atuação não é medida por uma atriz ser ou não sexy. Sua visão é muito superficial.
I prefer Catherine's Morticia. Angelica's Morticia is aristocratic, even regal and a real strong woman. Catherine's Morticia is a softer and a more seductive version, and she is more like a grey cardinal or a steel hand in a velvet glove than a lady-boss.

What the hell is the conflict? Addams don't have typical american mother daughter conflict nonsense. That is literally antitethical to their core value
yeah it feels off. but it’s a new story pretty much nothing screams “addams family” for me. i like how they took their own direction but it feels like they catered to the new generation a little too much. tried to make wednesday into wannabe april ludgate type of character
they don't really have conflict. Tish loves her daughter and Wednesday loves Tish. It's just Wenesday feels intimidated by Tish's success in the past and don't want to be in her shadows at school
THIS!!! The mother-daughter drama between Wednesday and Mortician pissed me off for 2 reasons : 1) it’s out of character 2) it felt unnecessary to the plot, which had other more interesting family conflicts. Like with the Sheriff and his son.
