How to build a #bushcraft stool using a scotch eyed #auger. This is my first build with this awesome little auger. It's a great bushcraft tool and super useful for a variety of off grid projects. Stay tuned for more videos using the 4th bushcraft tool (1 - knife 2 - axe 3 - saw 4 - auger).

    • @@pikeoutside728 are you using a 1" or a 1 1/2" cutting diameter auger?

  • Isn’t the eye end of the tool supposed to have the same diameter as the auger, so you use it to shave down the ends of the dowels (legs) to the correct diameter to fit the holes?

    • I have heard that. Haven't tested it out on this one.

    • He doesnt have it on his. If it has it, one side will be tapered to push aside the wood its peeling off. If you look at his, both sides are straight, no taper

    • @julies1ify the taper was grinded onto one end of the eye of this tool so it can cut into the wood as you pound the other end. The traditionally didn't come with a bevel until some youtuber tried to patent it.

  • I bought a 1" Scott's Eyed Wood Auger to try this very craft out for myself. I snuck off by myself for my first trial and error sessions and had a blast with creating my first attempted Doweling after Wood Auguring my first project. Which was just making a secure intersecting fixture. I took off doing this until I realized the overall value in such a tool, so, I went and ordered me a 1/2" Scott's Eyed Wood Auger and went back to the woods yet again by myself, to attempt another "something", to confirm my suspicions that a Doweled Joint is stronger than a nailed joint. Yep. I was correct, so I then let my mind wander as to the possibilities.... Now there's dowel coat hangers on almost every door in my House, the garage, the shed... I'm thinking of manufacturing my own privacy panels for my 6' chain link fence out of woven branches in wood augured and dowel pinned frames...yes the possibilities are indeed endless. Enjoy !

We are happy to inform you that your review has been featured on the Hand Auger page on Waivio, and it will serve as a valuable resource for others considering this product. Keep up the great work and happy crafting!

  • Isn't that what the scotch eye is for not just for a handle you take the scotch eye part and you bang it into the part that you want to go into the hole and it'll be the same exact size as that blade. You should not have to use your knife to make it fit perfectly into the hole, just use the scotch eye part for that. I think I would need a bigger seat or else my big butt would probably break that thing LOL. Thanks for the video!

  • Sweetheart the eye of your auger should be the same size as the bit!!! And it should also be tapered to be able to hammer it down over the end of the stick to create a peg. Of course removing the excess fraid wood from around it sugar!!!! Also Don't punch through so it won't break through when you sit on it babe!!! So you won't have to whittle just use the eye for cutting the peg end sweetheart!!!!

    @prepperquebecois403@prepperquebecois4034 жыл бұрын
    • It only comes with a cardboard tube. I ended up making a leather case that has done a good job protecting the auger and my pack. Check out my Instagram feed if you would like to see how that looks.

    • The one I bought off of Amazon was cheaper because it didn't have a leather case but it did have a little bag with a drawstring which is perfectly fine with me as long as it's protected and keeps it protected from me because it is extremely sharp.
