  • Paige will be back, I hope she learns from her mistakes because she could've had 35 in this game with how good she is offensively, Nika's defense kept them in the game

    • The greats always find a way to beat even the best defense thrown at them by continuously developing their game. 'Center Court' Clark is 1 of those. She'll do fine in the WNBA considering all the talent that'll surround her on the Fever.

    @digitalsoldier-1742@digitalsoldier-174226 күн бұрын
    • _CC_ has people paying attention, ds-1742 . . . for now. To be more precise, the NCAA and media sports networks (the ones who make the "extra-large $$$" from such phenomena) _have_ people paying attention. Because they can. But it's mostly MALES who $upport professional sports. Game attendance, TV $ubscriptions, print media, team gear purcha$e$, etc. amount to Billion$ of dollar$ each year. As to women's Bball, BRITTNEY GRINER was promoted and billed as the next coming of Jesus, and WNBA attendance enjoyed a bump . . . but not that big, and not for very long. Women's sports DON'T SELL after the _novelty_ wears off. Add to that the public knowledge that players in the WNBA are so predominantly lesbian, who would think that Caitlin Clark would be any more of a permanent draw than the aforementioned Brittney Griner, or previous/present "stars" such as Sue Bird, or Dianna Turazzi, or Brianna Stewart, or ? Before the WNBA became an aspiration for female players, I can remember watching Geno Auriemma's first NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP team - UConn '95 - a team composed of such feminine and powerful athletes as (surnames applied at the time) Jen Rizzotti, Rebecca Lobo, Jamelle Elliot, Carla Barrubi,

    • A foul with 3 seconds to go is still a foul. If the ref doesn't call it then they give the offensive team (no matter who it is) the unfair advantage. If you argue that a foul shouldn't be called with that little amount of time left, then I guess Gabby could have tackled Paige and that's OK since there are no fouls with 3 seconds left.

  • Just summarizing the first half: The UConn freshmen, KK & Ash, played great & so did the upperclass girls, Paige, Ali, & Nikki. KK provided a lot of offense & Nikki was heroic on defense. Still, Iowa substituted; while UConn didn't and that would make the ultimate difference in the forth quarter. You can't play five girls at this level for 40 minutes against a team like Iowa and expect to win. That said, who's going to argue with Geno's decision making & his 1,200+ wins? In fact, the plays the UConn girls ran were stunning. Someone, maybe Geno, deserves a salute for all the bunnies made.

  • When CC and some other Iowa players get touched they go down in a heap like they just got hammered by somebody. It's brilliant, when you can get away with it, but refs have to get better at scouting so they can recognize a flop in real time. They scout known foul-prone players beforehand and are quick to call fouls on them, but they must not scout the flops. Until they start penalizing it, the flop will continue to be a sad part of the women's game. CC could be in the WWE tomorrow! They obviously do it in the men's game too, but not nearly as often. Nobody has the time, but I'd love to go back through all the games and see how many points, at the line, the flop has led to for CC over the years. I like CC and think what she's done for the women's game is fantastic, so this is not a knock on her, it's a knock on the refs for allowing it to be a legitimate part of the game.

  • so sick of the refs ruining this woman's tournament with their outright shilling. was happy when LSU lost after the refs shilled for them...and will be happy when Iowa loses after the refs shilled for them with that ATROCIOUS call. why even play the game? just give it to them. Iowa should be ashamed they were handed the finals on a platter. and just forfeit. UConn got ripped off.

    • @@andrewbursey6627 what do you mean?! i didnt see an offensive foul called all tournament on either men or women...then suddenly one is called on a screen at a pivotal moment in the game? the shilling was even more evident in the lsu game. but this call was absurd.

  • Paige is the reason UConn lost her not been aggressive offensively helped Iowa win. This loss was all Paige. There is no way Marshall from Iowa supposed to have a chance defensively against Paige.

  • During the Uconn basketball game, they were leading by a significant margin. However, towards the end of the game, an illegal screen call was made against Edwards, which ultimately decided the game. The call was controversial, but it allowed Iowa to make 2 free throws, leading to their victory. Had the illegal screen not been called, the outcome of the game may have been different, and Uconn could have won. Nevertheless, the call stood, and Iowa emerged as the victor. Note: at the end of the First Quarter Uconn was ahead with 19 points and Iowas 14 points. Clark had only 2 points for a 1-7 shooting as Nika Muhl was doing a great defense on her. Ucon was ahead by 12 points 28-16, 5 minutes before the end of the 2nd quarter and Clark had still only 2 points. it was a suffocating defense applied to her by Nika and Paige, the rest is history.
