    • No amount of drainage could've handled that much rain in such little time unless you dug a massive hole in the middle of the city and skewed everything around it so the water could go there...

This is the Day of the Lord no longer the Day's of Man like what happened in the time of Noah,Lot and Moses in the Holy Scriptures that's why all of us people must include God in out day to day undertakings in everything we say and do. • The country is prepared to take their annual average with ease. I have been here for the past 20 years and have seen my fair share of rain and storms. I am sorry to say but no country would be able to absorb the amount of water (and wind) that came down yesterday. It was 1,5 times more than the annual average.

    • You've never been to Florida. There are times we can get that much rain in less than half the time and life generally goes on. Last year, Ft Lauderdale airport flooded - but that took more than two feet of rain in less than a day. That's SIX TIMES as much rain.

      @WSKRBSCT@WSKRBSCT12 күн бұрын
    • Have been in Dubai for 20 years as well and totally agree. And for the other comment I have lived in Florida as well. UAE response and cleanup works much better though than in any place in the US. One day in and already largely back to normal.

      @luchacefox259@luchacefox25912 күн бұрын
    • @@luchacefox259 they say a little over 10 inches of rainfall in one day. Florida has an average 54 inches through a full year so I doubt the two feet rain within less than a day is accurate 🤔 And obviously our soil here is different it’s desert sand and cannot absorb. Florida is very different. Draining is there outside of the very old areas but not set out for very big quantities. Life goes on in Dubai as well. Just news making it a big deal. People will clean up repair the damages and that’s that. If you visit tomorrow you wouldn’t even know anything has ever happened.

Pavements collapsing into the ground, opening-up sink-holes. And there's nowhere for the water to drain-off to. The flood water is not going anywhere and it's starting to smell bad.

A desert where there is almost no rain, where there is almost no water and something like that? Now you have to think for a moment that it is not just something? It's no wonder it happens, it just came too late and should have happened sooner.

Thunder rumbles, lightning streaks, As hailstones fall, like giant beaks. Emergency workers brave the flood, Their courage shining, a beacon in the mud. Through flooded streets, they slowly tread, With warning lights, a guiding thread. The Burj Khalifa, towering high, Touched by lightning in the sky. Amidst the chaos, a city stands strong, Resilient hearts, where hope belongs. Together they face the storm's fierce might, United, they'll emerge into the light.
