Lots more coming soon in Cape Breton 110 cm of snow altogether🥵 and be safe and have a good day
Hey. You are a hero. Thanks for your effort. As a former snow plow operator from Ontario I appreciate your struggles. Cheers
Thanks 👍 I guess you know what we are going through!
Morning... I grew up in maine during the late 50s and 60s and we had winters that were every bit as snowy as this latest storm you good folks had. I remember them well. I'm actually sad that winters like back then are now pretty much a thing of the past. Many places I used to ice fish growing up, havent even frozen over in 30-something years. No sir, I dont care for it at all. Love your work, and sure appreciate your making these snow episodes for the rest of us!
Thank you Dave! It was just like the storms we used to have when I was a kid. I also remember driving all over the harbour in my VW Beetle back in the 80's but can't even remember the last time I saw it freeze over. Stay safe my friend!
Looks like a good old fashion snow storm! At least it was a snowfall rate you could keep up with.👍
Yeah, but that was about to change after this video!
Yes, I've been watching. Things have been kind of sporty up there for you all this winter. Stay Safe Jim.
It’s still snowing here in Cape Breton another 2 feet expected on top of the 2+ feet already down it’s just nasty out
Gotta love it!
Love these videos
Thank you!
Nice video. With all that snow there. Lakes n resivors will be full.
Thank you! The snow does have its benefits!
I see you guys are getting some crazy snow now, stay safe!
Snow finally got here. Better late than never!
Great job again! Good to see some real snow! Stay safe and stay healthy!
Thank you Tbird!
👍
Good morning from New Brunswick, just overcast here this morning. You may have to dig out a V-plow after this latest storm. I enjoy your videos a lot, thanks for putting them together.
The next big storm we had after this one, we had to call in some trucks and vee plows from New Brunswick to help clear the roads
thank you very much for the info.
You are welcome Gordon!
Always appreciate the videos Jim! Not much snow down here on the coast of Maine this year. Always nice to see it snowing somewhere else 😉
Thanks Chris👍 We sure got hit hard last week
Here in east central Alberta getting our first real snow fall. Maybe 5" , the hiway S are covered with packed snow. So me NE wind so east bound lane gets the blowing snow. Our major hiway tends to get bad with blowing snow. There are many that think they can speed, but just make it bad for all. A4 wheeler ran into a snow plow , that's UFTDA- Norwegian for that's not good! Have a safe day, enjoy your vlogs!
Thank you Mr.lynn! Stay safe on the roads!
Nothing but couple inches down here in Southern New York this winter in total.
Our winter started out slow but then came in strong ast week.
Cant wait to see your videos from the big storm over the weekend. You must have some prettybdecebt footage.
I do!
That storm wasn't bad here, 8 inches of cement like snow, wildly high water content. Grass is showing again today
CWe get some crazy weather the last few years ehh?
Jealous. Of the amount you got in NS. Wishing we had that amount in east of Toronto. We have nothing Long boring winter so far
Yeah, that was kinda like our winter last year.
State of Emergency in Cape Breton... CBC
Good to see you out there pushing snow, Jim. We've had but two inches all Winter in Central Illinois. Hope you stay busy and safe out there on the roads.
We haven't had much snow the last few years Marty, but then got over three feet in one big storm just over a week ago now.
I've been following the historic snow fall you've had, especially to your northeast. Have you been moved out of district to cover the massive amounts they've had? We had a quick 3" of snow in Champaign, Il today. Headed your way. Take care Jim. @@JimHowDigsDirt
Great video! This has certainly been a slow winter for the plow crews and I hope you get several more snow storms to share with us.
That's the plan!
In Wisconsin we only had one big snowstorm and cold that was around 10-14 it was really cold then it has been very warm for January hardly any snow on the ground.
I am hearing that from a lot of people in the comments from all over North America. Crazy weather for sure!
I am a new Dot plow driver with about 10 years of experience otr. I have a couple of questions. What mix do you use for salt ? Is that a non adjustable right hand plow? How many ton of spread does your truck carry? I do about 51 lane miles of work as a ranger with out snow and about 15 miles in winter weather conditions. We primarily spread 50 /50 salt/aggregate with brine pre wet (when it's working). We put on 250lbs per lane mile and 500lbs when it's below 20 degrees f.
At this point you need to put a piece of black tape over that engine light 😂
Good idea! I think that's the best way to deal with those annoying engine lights.
Ok i'll waTch Ya...... Even Tho Im From N.B... Haa We've only got a Foot, and most of that's been within the past few wk's...
We got hit with over three feet of snow from a storm last week and had to recruit some N.B. trucks to come down and help open the roads.

Morning, Jim - Whoa, looks like this latest storm will keep you busy for a few days! Maybe change the name of your channel to "Jim How Plows Snow!" lol. Stay safe, and thanks for putting these together...
Great idea Dave! Maybe I should start a snow plowing only channel!
Great video! If you don't mind me asking, what blades are you running on the front and the wing? Thanks!
yes i know its the north shore but where at lol
Rt 374 Stellarton/Trafalgar Road, is my main road. And a few more side roads off that one.
Did you have any issues with the stuck truck? Also would you mind mapping out your dedicated plow route? I'd be interested to follow it on Google Earth. May I assume your wife does the additional filming when you toot the horn.?
Yes Terry, that is my lovely wife going out in the snow to get some video for me to use. Rt 374 Stellarton / Trafalgar Road is my main run. You can see us on Nova Scotia plow tracker when we are on the road. novascotia.ca/tran/winter/plowtracker.asp
@@JimHowDigsDirt Hey Jim, I appreciate you for answering.... I'll be interested in mapping your route on google Earth, satelite view 🌎 After watching your latest clips, following the huge storm, I can guarantee you were no doubt saddened that your truck was stranded for 3 days! If you're anything like me, I figure you were chomping at the bit to getter going and do a bunch of benching, widening your roads out..... One of my favourite jobs.... Slow and steady. Hope to see your latest video soon... PS.... Ya got my vote for bravery taking that 2 wd pickup as far as you did👏 For now, take care, thanks to your honey for the shots going past your house. I've put in a couple of full 14hr shifts since your big dump Ttyl Terry Stark
Where exactly are the brine tanks and where does it spay it out? Or does it mix it with the salt near the spreader?
There are two brine tanks that hold about 3200 litres total and both are mounted on the sides of the salt hopper/ epoke. The brine gets sprayed on the salt as it come out of the spreader.
Do you share a truck with another driver or does everyone have their own? What speed do you plow at?
All our trucks have two drivers and rotate 12 hour shifts from 5 am to 5 pm. Two weeks of dayshift then two weeks of nights. We are not supposed to travel over 60 kph when plowing and salting. A lot of times we might be only doing 20-30 kph if the visibility or road conditions are bad.
Hello out of curiosity were are you at ???
I believe he’s in pictou county nova scotai
Correct!
i hope you dont mind me asking . but where do you plow snow at .
I plow in Pictou County Nova Scotia, Ca. Stellarton/Trafalgar Road, Rt 374 is my main road.
