as a 2nd generation old school master clock-smith who grew up learning about clocks (my earliest memories are me taking clocks apart and putting them together at 4yo) i wanted to thank you for your great videos. i have been wanting to do this myself but i'm an old fart and don't seem to ever get to making videos of clocks i restore and i have never videoed any of my many custom clocks i built in the past 50yrs. we used to make virtually all of our own tooling and i absolutely love your channel... makes me feel young again :-)
Thank you mate, so pleased you're enjoying the videos :)
Al - make the videos, please!!!!❤
There is definitely A TON of people who would be interested in watching you! A lot of us 80/90s kids have realized we missed out on quality products due to mass production so we are drawn to content like this so we can learn what type of work goes into making special things.
@@davidt3563 absolutely as one of those 80/90’s kids, I can’t get enough of it, the pride and passion put into things you make by hand sparing no detail is just astounding, I am much of a beginner in this venture but I try and take my time with everything I do, but man Chris makes everything look perfect always
Ask a nearby youngster to help out! They don't have to be a pro! They just need to get what you do on film. Talk through the tricky bits perhaps, or just film the doing of them. Make a record of what you're doing. Youngsters are really clever at stuff, even with a crappy old phone! Seriously, mate, talk to a youngster - you'd be leaving a record and they'd be learning a few cool tricks, win win, right?
These parts are so beautiful and perfect that sometimes they seem like computer simulations rather than real pieces. Your work quality is just as immaculate as your videography. Thank you!
I’m a simple man. I see a new clickspring, I watch.
Leave it to Chris to turn springs into art... Thanks for making us all feel inferior! 😂😂😂😂😂
Up to this point, I have never ever, in my entire life seen a majestic looking spring. You never fail to blow my mind.
Even the tools Chris makes to make his beautiful tools are beautiful. I'm impressed.
Chris, your work is both beautiful, and inspiring. While I don’t make clocks, or machine metal, I do make pens and other objects on a lathe. I deeply enjoy and appreciate your manner of presentation. Thank you for making these videos and sharing your passion with us.
Appreciate you watching mate :)
As Adam Savage over on Tested gets into watch repair and possibly making, I feel like this would be something he'd be drooling over. He definitely watches as he's named dropped the channel many times
Oh, guaranteed he's drooling over this video. He name dropped Clickspring in last night's video. 😂
I don’t think it’s possible to watch one of your videos without audibly saying “wow” at least once. I never would have got into machining without you. Thanks for giving us the balls to imitate ANYTHING of yours!
Seeing the amount of care you put into a simple spring is really inspiring - I'm an apprentice machinist largely though the inspiration of youtubers such as yourself and This Old Tony, I aspire to produce things this beautiful!
Clickspring, This Old Tony. Yes, I can see that.
Yes a clickspring spring is a thing of beauty
They are old mates but I am worried that TOT may lead our boy astray!
If you like those two, I have a recommend for you that is somewhere between the two delivery styles and also a brilliant craftsman with superb videos. Check out Joe Pie. For heavy duty stuff you can't go wrong checking out Cutting Edge Engineering. Cheers
@@Gamerock82 CEE is a very good machinist and all round fabricator.
My brain didn't realize the smallness of the parts until you showed the assembly at the end. Your precision and finish feel on a whole other level when taking that into account.
Your machining is always a pleasure to watch, but it is the beautiful editing which sets your videos apart from the others. Out of the hundreds of channels on my subscription list, yours is one of three from which I have notifications enabled, and I seldom wait long before viewing. Thank you for continuing to produce such high quality content.
Good to see that Jer Schmidt is one of those.
If you haven't seen inheritance machining yet you are in for a treat, he's almost as anal as Chris.
@@jamesogorman3287 you peeked. 😀
The most perfect straight cut knurls I've ever seen! @¿@ Such brilliant fit and finish work with a bit of snap magic and a jaw parallelism off the chart. So Happy and Grateful to see such masterful work. Thank you Chris, I was riveted by the videography and my jaw hitting the desk several times...made my Week!!
Thank you PJ!
You sir, make German engineering look like a pallet project. Your dedication to your craft is beyond inspiring.
My heart skips a beat whenever you upload a new video, and this one was a gem!. Thankyou so much for your amazing content.
Your workmanship and pride in what you produce is infectious!
Simply stunning!
They belong in a display case Chris. Beautiful work mate.
Never have I seen such attention, the forming, machining, finishing and polishing, focused on a spring. Chris truly is an international treasure. ❤👍
Every single time that I watch Chris making with such beauty and precision I am absolutely astounded by how big his hands are. Either that or he’s making things that are so small, delicate, beautiful and precise that mere mortals like myself would need a magnifying glass to operate or admire them. 😂
Those rope knurled thumb screws are out of this world Chris. I always enjoy it when you make them.
I often think of your level of dedication and precision when im prepping/cleaning resins at work. I find it inspires me to putting in the extra effort. So thanks for the brilliant videos mate.
You are not just a clock maker or a machinist, you are an artist.
Chris's videos are always so relaxing. Music is so calm. Everything is clean. There's a certain serenity in his videos :)
Even the tools of a clock-maker look like fine timepieces.
Those jump cuts are as smooth as the milling 😂
When even the tools used to make art are art!
Awesome! A full length ClickSpring! My Sunday is made.
Bloody hell Chris, even the "simple" forming tool is a thing of beauty. I find your vids truly mesmerising and extremely cathartic - it's like some weird form therapy. It's great man. Cheaper too... I imagine the effort going into producing these vids is considerable, to put it mildly. I can probably speak for everyone who follows your channel, by saying that you are truly amazing Chris. You really set the bar and then some mate.
Chris, you are a huge inspiration and mostly responsible for my decision to finally dive in with the purchase of a mini-lathe. I made my first chips just yesterday and this kind of project gives me plenty to aspire to in the future. If only I could properly adjust these damn gibs 😅
So pleased to hear that Aaron :)
Your attention to detail is world class. The finest of Swiss watchmakers have nothing on you. At a bare minimum, you are in their class - possibly, you exceed them. Kudos for the master craftsman you have made yourself into! Please keep the videos coming! Most enjoyable! 🙂
Took me 10 minutes to realise I watched this 8 days ago, still worth watching it again though. Incredible work as usual Chris 👍
Been a while since us punters have been treated to a long video like this. It was great!
Your videos have been amazing. They almost always bring tears to my eyes. The beauty of your creations and quality of video presentation is unmatched by your fellow uploader.
You’re an absolute madman. I mean that in the most complimentary awestruck way possible.
I aspire to do some similarly small scale work one day. Thanks for showing us how it's done.
You have gone and bloody done it again! Much worship and respect, old boy. Oh and deep thanks.
Chris makes the world’s most attractive spring from scratch. I love it. ❤
Just a second, Chris; there's a new Clickspring episode. I'll be with you in 25 minutes . . . Outstanding craftsmanship as always!
You have made me look forward to doing tool making agin. I had a bad workplace accident 11 years ago and have not been able feel love for the “Tools”. You been able to give that back to me. (I hope you really understand how much that mean. To get your worth back. Thank you)
Sure do mate. Terrific to hear :)
@@Clickspring THANK YOU.
Lately I rewatched your skeleton clock playlist. So when you did the rope knurl here I was completely blown away because it's so much cleaner and crisper and brighter in a way that caught me completely by surprise. It's probably the clearest visual example I've seen of how you've taken your machining to even higher standards over the last few years, because the contrast is so immediate. The whole thing is so elegant and pretty, I know I'm going to rewatch this series over and over again!
As someone who works on watches as a hobby, it is so fascinating to see the making of the tools behind these wonderful little mechanisms. I originally subscribed because of your Antikythera series, but your latest works have not disappointed.
super underrated channel
Ooh, I enjoyed that. Thanks, Chris!
Brownells Oxpho Blue gel leaves a great consistent black finish to parts like these. Gorgeous photography and magical assembly sequence! 👍 😃
A day is just better when it contains a "G'day, Chris here".
Truely beautiful craftsmanship...
On this channel, even the metal chips look perfect and polished
Love the little Tenet reference haha
There’s nothing more satisfying than watching a talented craftsman mastering his craft. Beautiful work!
Don't think I haven't noticed your BUTTERY transitions. Your camera work is turning into some absolute MASTERY
I love the way you do things "ridiculously well" rather than just "well enough". The latter is an attribute of an engineer, the former is an attribute of an artist.
More talent, and pride of work in his pinky finger nail, than most people have in their whole body..
I liked the 'clock-fu' at the end. TOT would be proud of you. & Torbjorn Ahman
Some of these tools you make are just gorgeous!
So glad you share this with everyone mate, amazing as always
Man just made the most beautiful spring I've ever seen
You bring me Joy looking at this I don't understand anything about what you made because it's not my domain or Hobie but what I appreciate in anything or anyone it's perfection and you and the thing I saw here gave me hope knowing theres people out there who do care about how something is made and done
Chris, even the tools you make are works of art. Exquisite sir absolutely Exquisite!
Thanks Clickspring for the beautiful videos 👍
Woah.... Cool.... Gotta get that book for Reference Library
Seeing a notification of a new Clickspring video makes my spring click...if you know what I mean.
I learn something new every time I watch Clickspring!! Love these videos. Keep them coming please.
Black Nickel finish would contrast beautifully with the bright polished parts. Chemicals are cheap, or ready kits. Reasonable safe for plating at home.
Hi Chris. Very nice attention to detail is amazing.
Wondrous, Chris! You are a master at what you do. I learn something new from each of your videos. And it is so satisfying to see the care you take to achieve perfection!
My head explodes that Chris makes and polishes his own springs
love these long videos. totally understand that you need patreon to make it work, but really miss and appreciate the long relaxing project videos. one of the best channels on youtube!
lol, the assembly jokes are the very end had a "this old tony" vibe to them lovely work as always
The most beautiful spring I ever seen.
Beautiful detailing as ever. I genuinely believe that Chris would hear the phrase "you can't polish a turd" and set out to prove it wrong.
There is beauty in the world.
It makes sense to have a watch making tool to be like a beautiful piece of jewelry.
I get excited anytime I see a video drop from Clickspring!!!!!!
God Chris it’s almost ridiculous how good your projects look, the passion and time you put into every single part from a screw to a mainplate is just amazing!!!
"59 seconds ago" and I even had missed the alert bell, the gods of algorithm were favourable today. Bonus edit: that's just so unbelievably pretty tool, I can't believe it.
Chris You are an inspiration for everyone of us with a Home Shop. thanks
The bar just got another notch higher!
Absolutely stunning brother!!
Nice hat-tip to This Old Tony there on the final assembly 😊
This is exceptional craftsmanship. Thanks for sharing it with all of us.
Even your clamps look like jewelry. Amazing work.
Thanks for sharing your attitudes towards a project. This is far more valuable than it might appear and can apply to many other fields.
I appreciate the random toothbrush among all the pro equipment. Beautiful work again.
It so satisfyingly and meditating to watch your videos
Every time I see one of your videos, I wonder at the work you have gone to to present such a class product for us mere mortals to observe. It almost feels like voyeurism ,just more beautiful.( I'm no voyeur)
Artist at work, I can only dream.
Amazingly beautiful! Both a practical tool and a work of art at the same time!
Beautiful! This thing does not need a purpose! 💝
Beautiful ! Beautiful tool work, beautiful finishes, beautiful subject matter, beautiful video work beautiful lighting, beautiful editing, beautiful audio, and perfect pacing ! You really are a master at what you do Chris ! 👍
Chris's threat level is amazing. Such mastery across several disciplines is awe inspiring. All topped off by how rich and smooth his voice is. Could work professionally as a narrator making audio books. Then again, I guess he is a professional professional narrator as well.😂
unreal. the guy makes springs look pretty.
The best edit is at about 12:45. Perfectly seamless.
The kitchen reflexion on your CAD looks familiar :)
This guy is incredible. Nickel plate it!
Chris, you continue to create amazing content. Please never stop.
I still can't believe I'm watching videos like this in amazing quality. Watching your videos gives me the greatest spiritual satisfaction, comparable to going to the best museums, exhibitions or any other such highly cultural events. It is an incredible pleasure to watch not just professional work, but the work of a virtuoso, and even presented in such a high-quality manner. Let your hand stay firm for as long as possible. Thank you.
Lovely to see the graver in action.
Simply stunning 😍👍🏴
Thanks mate, for another wonderful video. Great work!
this is an absolute work of art
