  • I once read a historical fiction series set in North Dakota, where they said they had to tie a rope between the house and the barn to be able to find their way out and back. I didn't really understand that until now. Holy cow.

    • That is a true story The blizzard of 1966 was the worst that I remember as there was no Stockman's warning. My dad and brothers couldn't see their hand on front of their face. The livestock needed to be fed and cared for. It takes a strong, resilient, and tenacious person to be a farmer.

  • This looks like Grand Rapids, mi, yesterday except the snow was not blowing across the road. It was piled up on the roads and freeways with almost whiteout conditions in areas. Plows were not out and neither were the salt trucks. We had to fend for ourselves. I don’t know if they did anything overnight but the city is shut down today. I had a dental appt I really needed so I got out into it, thinking most people wouldn’t be on the roads. I was right. But even though most people know how to drive in the snow here, the roads were so bad. In front of me, a Ford Expedition…large, heavy SUV with 4WD…swerved left 90°, then right 180°, then left 180° and kept doing that for a while and all I could figure is that he had cruise control on which you must never do in these conditions. He didn’t touch the brakes either which would’ve stopped the cruise control and initiated the ABS. His back end finally hit the concrete wall and that stopped it. We had all stopped waiting to make sure he didn’t slide into us, then we gave him a room to pull off all the way to the right 4 lanes. I have a lightweight Subaru forester with all wheel drive and snow tires but it still shook me up a little bit that a large, heavy four-wheel-drive vehicle had no traction at all. Right after I left the freeway there were three pile up accidents that I just missed. But today we are supposed to get the really frigid temperatures and that’s so miserable if you are in an accident and have to wait in the cold for so long. Bring warm clothing, food and water if you venture out today.

  • Covering the face with eyes is an obligation and not a Sunnah, and the evidence is that Aisha covered her face for Hajj when men taught her by the order of the Messenger. So does he remove the obligation, which is revealing the face in Hajj with a Sunnah, which we will not be punished for? The imposition is still imposed by another, and this is in all religions, and it does not prevent communication, because communication with a mind is not a face, as we communicate in an exam, so Ibn Hanbal is the correct.

    • @@jeremybaumgartner867 there is global warming, the Earth is basically becoming a green house and that results in climate change, dangerous weather, etc.. The 20 tornadoes that hit southern MN on 12/15/21 that is a direct result of climate change. The hurricanes that get worse every year, that is a direct result of climate change. A lot of people confuse global warming as the areas we live in getting warmer but it’s more about the atmosphere and green house gases polluting our air which is killing our ozone layer. While we most likely will not see the actual warming effect in our lifetimes we will witness drastically changing weather conditions.
