“There’s a road, somewhere here”. THAT was scary! Yes, the truck sliding was also. Amazing video! Prayers for your safety as you film these.
Just another normal winter in North Dakota. When there are gates with red flashing lights that can be closed to close roads, you know this has happened many times before this blizzard.
Every single year.
Beautiful from 1000 miles away!
i love this kind of weather
Absolutely. Winter is exhilarating. I love it.
@Tristin Vittitow Love Snow..Watch the Show Fargo..Its Great
@Tristin Vittitow how is it mid-November? Is it as tough as in deep December?
I also love this kind of weather
I grew up in Fargo and now live in the south. This is making me so homesick. As a kid I remember bundling up on a snowday when school got canceled and walking down the street barely able to see to my friends house. We'd watch funny movies, make food, and drink hot cocoa with too many marshmallows and look out the window at the snow. It was the safest, coziest, most magical feeling.
I worked at Sisseton Reservation. This happens every winter there. People are very friendly during snow-ins, help each other.
I don't mind the ND blizzards. We do not have to live with earthquakes, mud slides, wild fires. All these will destroy your home and property in minutes. Here, we just dig and and keep going.
Add to that, no mosquitoes, no termites, cockroaches, poisonous snakes, spiders, scorpions.... could go on for awhile.
That's gonna change in the near Future....
But black flies and you have mosquitoes. They just might not like you...😂😂😂😂😂
@@northdakotaham1752 Please could you leave your email here.... making a decision on moving to Fargo and need some advice
@@giftydarkoa3925 i can answer you here no problem. What would you like to know?
I used to live in Moorhead from 1977 to 1982. So this video brought back to me soo many memrioes. Most of them were good. Thank you for this video! I remember us getting a blizzard when we got one on April 1st. and the tempture went from 40 to 0. The announcer on WDAY radio said this isn't a april fools joke.
This is called Winter folks.. no global anything but just plain winter
Excuse me? Weather is a global phenomenon. LOL
I might add--North Dakota has an abnormally long period in my experience without blizzards. Alaska is also not behaving as usual in my experience.
Stephanie Patel sure...whatever. Proof please.
5 feet snow in front of my garage.. Trollwood park. area..crazy!!
Great footage thank you 😊
I'm from Fargo. I was out of town up in Minot when this happened. Minot didn't get 1 flake from that storm. Had to come back to see the final results of this storm. Probably be snow on the ground until June!
I live in North Dakota and this is why i drive a lifted and lockers on my Cherokee.
BEAUTIFUL SNOW RAISED IN BLUE RIDGE MOUNTAINS WE HAD LOT'S OF SNOW LIVE IN SOUTH EAST TEXAS NO SNOW MISS THE SNOW⛄❄
I was in Dickinson North Dakota in the winter by the oil fields I'm From California , YesThis is winter ! Great video 👍
Was bunkered down in my home didn't realize how bad it was
Snow storms like that I was born in a snowstorm I remember snows like that in Connecticut but lately we haven't had it maybe getting a lot of rain I feel sorry for all those people in that snowstorm
That cab must be needing money bad
th The weather outside is frightful and I am Philly watching you!!!
home sweet home. That rumble ling wind the blowing snow very soothing.
I simply love this weather and want to experience such weather every year.
Wow, you really have to be aware and prepared up there, what kind of vehicle are you driving?
What was the temp, generally and absent wind chill inclusion? Nice polar bear weather.
Several years ago I was offered a position at the hospital in Fargo. When I see things like this I’m glad I didn’t take it.
One year in heavy snow..our hospital in Minot recruited the snowmobile rescue team to pick up their employees!
Jennifer Smallin I wound up in PA. Nor’easters usually do us in when the lows track up the coast. Anyone with 4WD gets called on to fetch nurses and docs (essential personnel). It was 65 yesterday and we’ve only had about 2" of snow for the winter. Tempted to pull my golf clubs back out.
Some, you did good....bless you. I will not be able to live there either. My mind is not that strong.
Passing through from WA and got caught up in this, idk how you guys live here! But yall are more brave than me, no snowtires, I pulled off to wait it out.
smart man
' snowy is a so beautifully winter season weather... all vehicles musts useing 4 chaintires all the time
I'm on 36th Ave it's DEEEEP over here !!!
For maximum effect make sure you don't use your headlights
Love my Fargo 🙏🏾
great video SVL, you were in a large 4wd is my guess judging from your height beside the semi trailers, I live in Winnipeg, your neighbour , LOL, we got this storm, just about a 1/3 of the snow you received ,but we got the winds, even the short ride home from my buddies house like 4 miles from home, it hit us in under half an hour, i made it home with no problems , i was lucky unlike others who were stranded, those people were probably going to Costco for the boxing week sales in that storm, my buddies wife did in the middle of it driving their 4 runner TRD, she was so excited, not the sharpest knife in the drawer,😂 , most of the commenters here haven't the faintest clue or idea that most blizzards are not extremely cold, the weather warms up and brings extreme conditions, snowfall ,wind gusts, 30-60 mph sometimes and it all polishes the roads making it more dangerous, we have grown up with these conditions and to us it is not as extreme as they see it to be, we just know how to prepare for it and how to drive in these conditions only when necessary , i have been driving in these types of winters for over 45 yrs and you get use to it and it is not always like this, the extreme cold we get is actually more dangerous than crazy snow storms, - 45-50 degrees with windchills is worse , if you are exposed or broken down in vehicle the low ambient temperature car do you in far sooner than the blizzard, you are out in - 35 degrees versus 5 degrees plus wind and snow, we will like one person said shovel or snowblower our way out of it and keep moving on, i will take this over a hurricane, earthquake, landslide ,volcanic eruption , or tidal wave any day, week, or month of the year, i have relatives in Australia and have Skyped with them and all you can see in the background is a grey smoke filled sky and 100 plus degree temps everyday for the last few weeks, i will take this any day over that !!!!
I am not delivering again to Pembina until April.... I ain't chaining my tractor trailer no more!!!! Good luck up there....😯
what a lot of snow ,, greatings from the netherlands ,,,,
This is the time to test that 4 wheel drive in your trucks or mid size suvs
3 things absolutely necessary in these conditions: 1) All wheel drive. 2) Great winter tires. 3) Snow chains. Also, one should always have extra mitts, coat. boots, some water, a few snacks (high calories) and a candle. It will keep you warm inside your car in an emergency. Happy new Year!
no chains, tear up to many things
@@oldfordcarsandtrucks In my neck of the woods, there are days when, if you don't have chains, you ain't goin' far.
i'm in town here and its going to be snowing till Monday at 6pm according to Valley News. You gotta have longer and more footage than just 5 minutes. Lets cover the snow plows in the parking lots they have to clear.
Bobcat is the vehicle to do traveling in the snow storm.
How long did this winter last ?
looks so heavenly
😳 That’s wild❗️
I love being inside when it’s like this but omg why do people even try to drive in it?
Used to live up in that area....weather is always interesting.
I drove through a whiteout in PN. it was at night TG! (as I couldn't see the huge drop-offs if you lost & went off the highway was breaking in my new Toyota 2008 RAV4 w/stability assist). Otherwise, it would've been a white knuckle event instead of a nail biter...
Eeeks I don’t miss that part of living in Fargo :(
I'm not too far away, in Milwaukee. Thankfully we don't have that kind of weather here. Be safe up there.
I didn't see this,it's not for broadcast.
How do people even get to work in these conditions?
Pretty cool, an adventure for some. Not cool plowing the van in though
Living in the UK, this looks like another world. Very thankful not to have to experience extreme weather
Carol Wilkins big storms are pretty cool. The rest of long winters suck.
Living in the US, I'm very thankful that I don't have to experience the UK
Why go out?? Do you get s trophy 🏆 if you make it to your destination ??
no but there is alot of businesses around me here in wi that would not care. they expect u to work and if u dont show u get written up or fired.
I went to the bar to watch the Vikings game
no, you get a beer !
LOL was wondering the same. I call into my job. My job ain't worth my life
Wow, the winds are making the drifting really bad there. Should use snow-blower trucks to prevent the piles of snow that plowing usually results in. The wind drops off snow behind the piles of snow on the side of the road, making things worse. When you 'blow' the snow there is no piles on the sides of the road and the snow builds up on the road at only 1/3 the rate.
The snow blowers come out when it gets deep enough, but they can't come close to covering all of our roads in a timely manner. When we have a REAL blizzard, the snow gets so tightly packed and hard, that snow blowers have a hard time cutting into it. That's when the big D9 Cats come out.
If I had a snow thrower to shovel this snow, I would travel.
I grew up in Fargo as a kid 1975-1991, still have family there. That place is no joke....Get some sorel pac boots if you are going to walk anywhere, they are a lifesaver.
Honestly just an average Monday here in North Dakota in the winter also in the summer if you have cotton trees in your backyard oh wait there's cotton trees every freaking where
What's the date?
Glad we moved to Washington State when I was young, used to live in North Dakota.
Fargo is a lot happier in the summer, blizzard hits and it’s like a ghost town
And this is why I live by the beach.
why are you even out in this weather?
the bar !
Go watch a movie at the movie theater!
To find some pussy
I wonder if parts of montana are the same
Probably. I just hope I am wrong.
l used to live in fargo since 1994 untill 2016 ... love fargo too much ...
I will like to visit North Dakota and have the experience, I am sure that they're much colder than us here in Chicago.
I'm from Florida, it's my first time doing winter here and it's 55 degrees in the am already (in August) so.... I'll be I Fargo this Winter, I'm nervous but excited to finally see snow ❄
Yeah and maybe 2 inches of snow all year so far in upper Midwest by Chicago Illinois not normal!!
Without winter tires on, you are DEAD in those conditions.
All season works just fine. Bred and born North Dakotan here....
OK, this is a REAL blizzard, not like what we get in the Pacific North West
I love it.
Wish we had snow like this.....
Hahaha It's called a normal ND winter... Lived in ND for over 35 years, I moved because the winters sucked!
Moved to North Dakota 30 years ago and never dreamed it would be my last move by choice.
What a lovely day.
Omg! I think I’ll stick to the rain here in Florida
Makes the UK look rather warm. Andy England 🇬🇧
Growing up in Kenya and never experiencing this makes me wanna move alot
WOW...My in laws live there, brave people! Take care you all!
Dang, Bismarck is Lucky
I live in PA, we havnt got nothing and it's been mid 50s.... just one good storm that's all I ask for!
That looks like a fun place to live.
Hell no
For a North Carolina boy, this looks like pure hell!
Joe Lippard, For a Massachusetts girl now in California it looks like paradise lost.
Why are you out on the road?
to get to the bar !
I worked for dish network for 3 years. They would make us work in conditions like this even tho the dish couldn't even see the satellites because of the weather.
South Dakota same way in Aberdeen!! Nothing new.
I grew up 60 miles north of Fargo. Unless we absolutely had to, we didn't venture out in a blizzard. We were fully stocked at home and made the best of it.
The only time I ventured out into a blizzard, I was 19 years old with a fake ID making a beer run in my toyota corolla because we were out of liquor at the house. I miss those days of being a dumbass
who are these people trying to drive in the blizzard and where are they going
Work :( Can attest
the bar !
Sometimes you got to move snow blizzard rods closed you got a 53 ft trailer full of parrishables you can’t set and let it rot also medical police people that are in the emergency field have to work and lots of others a snow blizzard don’t stop a lot of people it’s not as bad as it looks been on res a lot worse than these in the old days some parts of Canada got hit hard it’s not as bad as it used to be now a days they make a big deal outa a snow storm in the old days common thing you were prepared for this kind of weather a little blizzard would not stop people from working I’ve drove on tons of roads that were supposedly closed cops can’t sit at all res and not let you through
Movie theater!
Its called winter happens every year
wow, i want go there!
got a cold beer for ya
Love it
a trucker's worse nightmare - breaking traction on ice/slippery surface - 80,000+ lbs out of control - couldn't pay me enough to be out in this kind of weather :(
Glad I moved to Florida, I used to live on hwy 10 in Minnesota 90 miles east of here.

so glad i live in AZ
Just move to Texas. It's not worth it.
This is very scary.
Wish i still lived in north Dakota
He.he.he..too bad u ant gettin the good stuff..around here..it's snow windsurfing time..get the sleds..good vid..I hate winter..but I gotta live with just like u..
why are they even driving in this storm ?/
а у нас вообще снега нет... Россия Санкт-Петербург 01.01.2020
I hope the snow goes away in the summer
This is a whole-nother level right here: closed interstate; those HUGE plows!!! Man!!! This mess is serious!!! I guess it’s coming our way: east!!!
No this was a week ago and went north into canada.
dean nelson 👏👏👏👏👏👆👆👆!!! Thank you LORDDDD!!!! ☺️
'Horrible Travel Conditions' Yeh right, forget about the travel part.
MOVED TO FLORIDA IN 2005.
I would never drive in these conditions. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Norberto P. Niebres same but if I had a awd truck or suv then yes because I’m planning to move there then buy a truck for these conditions I’m thinking of getting a gasser truck then put on snow tracks on to drive around in snow
Dont bother with an suv, they dont have enough weight. No need for a diesel unless you really want one, the problem really isnt the snow. Its the wind, you can buy as big a pickup as you want it doesnt matter much when theres no road to see.
Harrison Gooch well it my thing so ya I’ve seen Jeep trackhawk in snow just plowing through
@@vce.john1734 and I've pulled hundreds of 4wd vehicles out of drifts and ditches. You're the idiot I get to hook chains to because you think you're sweet.
My husband and I drove threw this back to Winnipeg, it was a walk In the park for us if you know what your doing.
New motor sport, Grader Drifting!
yep
Jan. 1, 2020----What I don't understand is why those drivers didn't have their trucks & trailers chained. Period. Especially that one guy who looked like he was just putting them on....I'd of been chained up well before hand, doing MAYBE 35mph. And if/when I'd hit ice and start sliding, hello 15 mph along with keeping my flashers on while going down the road. Better a late delivery than sliding into some snow and waiting for a tow truck. As to those cars stuck, bet NONE of them had any gear to deal with sliding into a snowbank or spinning on the ice. Learned my lesson in Colorado and after that, had TWO shovels: a regular square metal one, the other a snow shovel, along with at least two bags kitty litter and ice melt. EACH. Drove 15 years, OTR & LTL, with LTL having me go over Donner ALL the time, in all sorts of weather. Which is why I always carried 4 spare chains as they do tend to break and always unexpectedly. I retired 4 years ago and from time to time want to fish in the Yuba City/Marysville area for a few days. Truck has 4WD, but I altered my semi-truck chains to fit all 4 wheels, along with having my shovels, etc. and a couple of tow ropes for those that got stuck. However, I REFUSE to help those w/4WD or front wheel drive and blow by me in their hurry. A few miles down the road, there they are, stuck. Let Caltrans or the CHP help them.
Could be wrong but I dont think chains are allowed here. You can run studded tires for part of the year. It's mostly flat ground so not like driving in the hills or mountains.
chains are legal. it's just flat here and chains are not any help in deep snow, just get stuck worse and the fly apart with lots of damage
3:06 Of course it's an Amazon trailer! Only someone pulling for Amazon would be out driving in these conditions. Anyone else with half a brain would be in a truck stop or at least a parking lot. As a truck driver i see these guess every night and they all drive aggressively. It is sad to say but i think they even have SWIFT beat for worse drivers.
