  • So... no one is talk about how Joker actually HELPED Red Hood? I gotta admit I hated how Bruce neutered Red Hood, but it's the darkest twist of irony that the freaking Joker of all people is helping Jason overcome his fear. Of course, Joker being Joker, I'm sure he's got an ulterior motive but holy crap it took an interesting turn

He wears the mantle for the same reason Batman dresses up like a bat; bats used to be Bruce's greatest fear, the Joker used to be (and still probably is) Jason's greatest fear so they wear the guise of their greatest fear to strike fear in the hearts of criminals

  • I'm just guessing but I think the fake joker won. After they hit the water the fireball train hit the fake one who is already dead (this is why hair is burnt off etc). In the panel the real joke pops up with a knife to kill him, but was surprised that the other couldn't die and killed the real joker.

    • Also the way Solomon Grundy referred to the joker at the end as still being alive. I don’t think he was referring to him surviving the battle. Remember how he befriended the “dead” joker down in the sewer? I think Grundy was literally trying to say which joker had emerged the winner.

  • divorced from whatever is going on in current DC (because i dont know) this reads like an external Arkham Knight. in the game even adopting a fractured aspect of the Joker allowed random civilians to accomplish far more than anyone reasonably should and this story shows an almost average person adopting the essence of Joker in its entirety. it invokes that same feeling of Joker being in Batman's head or Joker taking over Tim in beyond, the idea that on some level Joker isnt something you can just punch away, that even physically killing him isnt guaranteed to solve anything. it speaks to the idea Joker occasionally posits about himself being an agent of chaos and the opposite to "Batman", that anyone could become like him under the right conditions

    • I mean there's a mguffin that can give anyone all of batmans memory so there's always a batman in the world. Let's make it so joker does kill batman and soaks in all the chaos but feels nothing so he tries to start a new with family and everything till a mugger kills them. With that he sees that the world needs a batman so he breaks in the batcave (he knows batman is bruce) and finds that devices and uses it on himself becoming a batman himself

  • With the bullet wounds in his chest I'm thinking it's the fake one even though he is missing a bullet wound as I believe he had 3 or 4 previously but only two that I saw when he was walking outta the water at the end. Though he getting fixed up by the doctor could have helped get rid of the couple that were missing... Am I right or wrong who is to say?

    • I’d like to believe that’s because even though fake joker has real jokers memories and general personality, he does not have the literally broken part of himself that real joker does, he THINKS he does but in the end he essentially watched a movie of someone else’s memories and thoughts; he’s acting accordingly to those installed memories but he’s still on a base level different. I mean look at how nice he was to Harley, and she nailed it on the head immediately

  • I love the ending where it leaves the viewer guessing which joker came out the victor, It doesn't even matter really who's the winner, Its the Joker identity that even the fake would accept the title if it was him who won. I Mean This is something they pulled in the Three Jokers story where it didn't matter who was the real one as long as "A" Joker was left in the end, Joker IMO isn't the man but an Idea of Chaos Incarnate, Its why I think Like there'll always be a Batman, There'll always be a Joker

  • So my own theory on which joker survived: One of the last panels shows a purple sleeve and a glove, which almost definitely makes the joker who came out of the water the real joker Also, the real joker at this point has less motivation to kill the fake joker Edit: also very off topic but i love the hint on who the fake joker is based on how he tells the comic style backstory, as the real one wouldntve included the detail of him laughing at the end

  • I think that was supposed to be the fake because if you pay attention during their fight on the train, the fake (who was wearing a bandana on his neck because he had been dressed like he worked on a train) had a horizontal scar on his face that went from his cheeks to under his nose. The surviving joker had that exact same scar.

  • I think that if somebody were to make a comic that combined the premise of this one and The Three Jokers, it’d be almost perfect. All three would believe they are the Joker but have never met each other. Each time one of them commits a crime, they all just assume they did it. Then the inciting incident would happen where, through whatever circumstance, all three meet. They then go to war with each other, dragging other Gotham rogues along with members of the Bat-Family into it. In the end, only one Joker remains. One would have been killed by Jason (like in the 3J’s). The remaining two would have then fought each other to the death isolated and away from prying eyes. As the dust settles, everyone (Batman, Batgirl, Two-Face, Jim Gordon, Riddler, Penguin, Catwoman, Harley) looks at the two Joker bodies. Only one gets up. The remaining clown then announces himself as “The One True Clown Prince of Crime!” Roll Credits.

  • This story is so much better than 3 Jokers. It actually has a really damn good ending. I love endings where you as the reader decide what happens. Just like that Two-Face story where he harasses a firefighter and his wife. You decide at the end with a coin flip if he kills himself or goes back to his wife.
