The use of the feldgrau special clothing for armor crews is interesting. My father in law was Panzerfahrer in 2. Kp Fuehrer-Begleit Btl, they were also issued the feldgrau Panzer uniforms with white piped collar tabs and GD shoulder boards, cuff title and Fuehrer-Hauptquartier cuff title. After he was wounded on the Ostfront he spent some weeks on light duty pulling guard on the outer perimeter at the Wolf's Lair Wolfschanze, the 1. LSSAH patrolled the inner perimeter.

The injuries and enduring of bombs on both sides were devastating and the having to go back out after being wounded and enduring the healing and having to go on after being severely wounded is a testament in its own. I have been severely wounded twice and I know personally what it is like having to try and operate like a good soldier that has never been wounded. Your never the same and your body is never the same either. Having to grind on wounded, healed to a certain extent, and back out into the fighting is only harder and more grueling than the first or second time. The only thing that makes you any better or safer is the experience you gain by seeing combat and having some experience with what is coming and what might or is going to happen is your only advantage over those who are new or doesn't have much combat experience. God bless you all and enjoy your evening and I hope you have a great weekend.

Very well done and put together. For some reason even the German names invoke fear, for example the SS, the Panzer Lehr, the Gestapo.
Lehr fought like absolute mad dogs during the end against the Americans
And against the British at Caen.
What you mean with "mad dogs"??
Yessss
As a Combat veteran of the Vietnam war, I can emphasize we these soldiers, on both sides, war is Hell.
No matter what the world says about the Germans, many of the none Nazi German soldier fought with bravery and valour and should be respected as such. No more. No less..
Indeed they did. George Patton once said... "We defeated the wrong enemy"
I always thought the Russians fought against the elite German divisions - this video definitely makes me think twice about that conclusion.
There was also the 9th SS, 10th SS, 2nd SS, 1st SS, 12th SS and the 21st Panzer division in Normandy. Alongside the Panzer lehr, it was the most formidable concentration of German armour in a small area of front.
@@Bullet-Tooth-Tony- Don't forget the 116th division "Windhund"
@@alexmuller1680 True, in total there was around 7-8 armoured units, and also a further 3 Heavy Panzer battalions and two Nebel Werfer brigades.
If anything, the bulk of "elite" German divisions were arrayed and against and destroyed by the Western Allies. The only other "elite" divisions that escaped the Western Allies' wrath were 3rd SS Totenkopf, 5th SS Wiking and Grossdeustchland. "Elite" German divisions had more success against the Soviets, but stood no chance against the Western Allies.

Baloney. He had a narrow, shallow view of the conflict.
Interesting, I don't think any of the main bulk of them were lousy, the Americans were still brilliant fighters and always will be 🤝
You are a liar! That story sounds totally fabricated. The Germans always had an excuse for defeat. It's either Hitler, Allied numerical superiority or airpower. Why couldn't the Luftwaffe with superior German engineering defeat the Allied air forces?
@@dougrobbins5367Yeah, he was only THERE.
@@tekis0 He was there to witness a tiny potion of what happened, and he had a wrong-headed viewpoint. If the allies never had to put men on the ground they wouldn't have, they sure as hell didn't want to. They had to. The sad part and probably a tragic ending to a formidable unit was it was stripped of most of its equipment in 1944 to be given 2 Pz. div. which was subsequently lost by stupid decisions.

The USSR would have collapsed without the Lend-Lease Act and help from Britain (intelligence). Loss of food would have sealed the fate of the soviets (unless helped by foreign powers fighting for communism) The soviets got enough food from the USA to feed its soldiers for the rest of the war, 12 million boots , 60 percent aluminum and steel, a lot of tin , 90 percent of railway equipment ( the soviets would never have been able to conduct offensives so fast and transfer their main armies to critical points , 300000 trucks were given , 65 percent of aviation fuel and much more apart from 15 percent tanks ,aircrafts Soviet sympathizers say "only 15 per cent was given to USSR"
The biggest help the Russkies got was the 33k trucks supplied to the Red Army under Lend Lease by the Yanks. Made the Red Army extremely mobile in their push towards the Reich.
@@richardscanlan3419Dont forget the millions of dollars, technologies and help in building their arms factories...
@@tekis0 for sure. But,my point is those trucks gave the Red Army a mobility the Germans never possessed. This enabled the Russians the ability to counter the Germans on every part of the front with a speed that made the German blitzkreig look amateurish by comparison. Minute 9: ´despite Allied air-superiority´: the Germans on the ground had a joke about that: ¨If you see a silver airplane, that's an American. If you see a brown one, it´s British. And if you don't see any at all, that's one of ours.¨

That was as pro-Nazi a bit of propaganda as I have seen in a long time. Well written and presented, it is nonetheless a real sideways look at a group that was not all that.
They fought for their land, not for Hitler. Hitler declared war on Russia, England, USA,.... There was no chance for this brave soldiers.
eigentlich hat England Deutschland den Krieg erklärt.
It's a lot more complex and nuanced than that. They fought for the future of Europe entirely. Look at Europe now...
@@SaturnReturns Look at USA now. Illegal Migrants come to USA without control. Many university's are infiltrated of islamists. And your Partys, special the democrats, are full of traitors. You have the same problems as we in Europe have.

So, they went to Normandy where they got their arses handed to them on a plate by the allies, and then ran away back to safety with only 20 tanks left. Nice smart tunics though.
All because the allies had extensive air support and the Germans had none at all. If fighting on all out tank battle and Infantry tactics between the Western allies and the Wehrmacht and SS divisions combined the Western allies most likely would got no where in the Normandy offensive
@@donavan835 Air power was definitely a factor and the allies developed tactical air support to a fine art, but let's not glorify yhe Nazi's capabilities. The allies would have beat them anyway because they were superior tactically, stategically and operationally. Most of the German army relied on horses for transport. They weren't the super efficient fighting force they were portrayed as.
Credit is where credit is due. The Wehrmacht Lehr Division fought their battles valiantly and most of the time their fought against overwhelming odds against the Western allies and they are honourable soldiers in my book. I on the other hand read too much of boastful remarks in favour of the Western allied armies that are most of them indeed sound superficial.
@@donavan835 Well, don't read the superficial stuff 😀. Instead, read how brave the allied soldiers were, say in Sicily where each fortified hill had to be taken against well entrenched German positions, one after another. And remember, the allies were a conscript army where soldiers had to be motivated by their officers to leave the safety of their positions and charge the enemy. The Germans were motivated either by a sickening ideology, or the real threat of being shot for cowardice. Yes, a lot of German soldiers were good soldiers and very disciplined, but they were not supermen, and once the allies got their act together they dealt with them professionally and bravely. It was the same with the Japanese. To start with, a Japanese bayonet charge with them screaming Banzai put the fear of God up our soldiers. After a while though, they learnt to stand their ground and machine gun them down.
Long time since I heard such an amazing amount of rhetorical flights of shite. And thats only after eight minutes...

WHERE are the footages of panzer Lehr?!? Most footages are Waffen-SS, and Falschirm Jager!!!
What made them elites was their fanaticism...
No, the thought of being occupied as they still are. No country wants occupation. This stupid blood Barth wouldn't have happened if it weren't for the one sided treaty of Versailles. That meglamaniac (Hitler) wouldn't have come to power.
