Looking for a blood pressure monitor that makes it easier to keep track of your blood pressure? The Withings BPM Connect and the Omron Evolv are two of the most popular "smart" blood pressure machines. They have a lot in common - both connect to apps on your phone to log, track, and interpret your blood pressure. And they can even generate reports you can send to your doctor!
But which one is right for you?
I tested them both, and in this video I share my thoughts on the pros and cons of each one, in the areas that matter: accuracy, design, smart features, battery, and price.
And if you want to check out my individual reviews of each of the machines, check out the links below!

  • Monitoring blood pressure is vital! (Pun intended) High blood pressure leads to cardiovascular disease - the #1 killer in the world, so finding and treating it can save SO many lives! The problem? Most of us can't feel when our blood pressure is high so the only way to really know is to check it. These 2 BP monitors aim to make it WAY easier to check and track blood pressure which can mean the difference between under-treated hypertension (leading to unnecessary organ damage), or too much medicine (leading to lightheadedness, falls, or worse). I've made individual review videos of each of these machines, so check them out for more details about each one. Feel free to leave a comment below with your thoughts or experiences with either of these machines. Thanks for watching!

  • I went with the Omron, and I'm pleased. Your video helped me decide. After many tests throughout the day, the results are tight. My old machine was all over the place. Setting up the app was easy, and it pushed the results to the app automatically. I didn't have to press the sync button.

  • Thank you for this very polished video. I had an surprise elevated BP reading at my eye exam yesterday, so have resolved to watch my pressure more closely. Yours is the first video I've seen on the topic! I wanted to see one from a doctor, not some AI bot with ten reviews. I have a withings scale at home, and it's a terrific device. Its web logging is fantastic. So I am biased toward Withings. I'm not a fan of that BP readout though. It's strangely illegible. Thanks for all your work.

  • Great source of information. Thank you. I received the Withings BPM this morning. I thought I was computer savvy but the material that came with it was useless. The instructions were so light and difficult to see and the print was tiny. The setup coordination between the unit and the APP was not user friendly at all. The band was slow and sloppy putting on and the unit was difficult to put in the right place was cumbersome. I played with it for three hours and when I saw a $9.99 monthly fee I wrapped it back up and it's going back.

    • Thanks for watching. And thanks for the feedback. Someone else in the comments was able to find a way to use it without the fee but I totally understand the frustration. You definitely want to have reliable home medical equipment that's easy to use.

  • Excellent report, thank you Dr. Zain! I have the Omron and I love that it is automatic (no stethescope), easy to put on correctly, fast, and accurate. Frankly, I write my BP and BPM data in my daily agenda, so I dont care about the bluetooth or logging functions. And I got my Omron on Ebay for only $60 with free shipping.

  • Unlike the majority of people. The OMRON machines both this one and another similar model were very inaccurate for me when compared to a manual reading in the office. (OMRON was +15-20). My theory is the cuff didn’t fit me well, even though my arm isn’t significantly large nor small.

    • I always recommend people bring their blood pressure machine to the doctor's office to have it checked against the clinic's. Just because my particular unit was accurate does not mean that they all are.

  • I would call out the privacy concern with the Whiting as all your readings go through their server! Why should this be necessary??? I don't want to get spammed with blood pressure medications! BTW, I would prefer it if you didn't have background music while you are talking. Thanks for an informative video.
