Wow!! Thank you all so much for watching this video! We wanted to address a comment that we seem to be getting a lot about autotune. We believe that autotune was used in the first song simply as a vocal effect. This does not mean that they "need" autotune in order to sing the right notes, they are obviously amazing singers without any vocal effects. So why would they use autotune? Because it sounds amazing with electronic instruments! If you listen to the difference in the way their voices sound from the first song to the rest of the performance, we hope you can hear that the first song has somewhat of a "metallic" effect in the voices! Bruno Mars is an amazing singer and in 24k magic he uses autotune because is goes well with this disco pop sound, not because he cant sing the notes! We understand if you disagree with us but I hope you can accept that we know that BTS can sing without any effects and it will be amazing! @@kstar1489 Actually, I believe that in their earlier days, jimin as always had that little squeak at the end, but it wasn't intentional. However, I think over time, instead of trying to cover it up, he decided to use it to his advantage with his vocals. That's what is sounds like to me anyway.

@@pegshel5060 you can hear it clearly during Dynamite, yes. but during Save Me and Spring Day you can’t. it’s okay to use for an effect like they said, BTS have used it but they were wondering what their voices sound like just completely natural and it’s the last two songs. that’s how they sound lol. specifically they keep talking about Jimin’s very unique voice, wondering if it was an effect. it was not.
well, i think there were multiple effects present during dynamite and a few were taken off for save me and spring day, but there were def still effects on those two
How do you recognize the auto-tune sound? Because to me it sounds like almost unprocessed live vocals with just a backing track and a band haha
@@thalierose470 It’s much harder to tell with the vocalists, it’s been said before that they have this insane ability to match the background track when there is one. You can hear that it’s not just raw vocals in Dynamite with the rap line though. Listen to their parts and then listen to them in the other two songs. They sound completely different, especially J Hope.
Jimin's vocal style/tone is very distinct and I think he's the only one that can naturally do it. Its sexy, feminine and soft. I love it so much

The one in the vest, Taehyung, is a baritone. He's got an interesting voice and the biggest range. When you watch their backstage videos, he'll sometimes sing some opera.
V is much smarter than most people notice. He is extremely curious and visits galleries (sometimes buying a painting for his new condo in Seoul) and museums when they are on tour and is an avid photographer. He sometimes sings opera because he has heard it and appreciates it. He is way more than just a handsome pop singer. He seems quiet and reserved at interviews but he is bright enough to have a wicked sense of humor. He will often sit and seem distracted for 10 minutes, suddenly open his mouth and out comes something terrifically funny and clever. He would be an interesting guy to spend a day with.

@@jameskeyes1131 he is definitely very smart, i think after RM, taehyung might be the smartest. he is such a fast learner, and like you said, curious too which is a sign that he could be veeery intelligent. he's really open-minded. and yeah, he seems a bit more reserved now than he used to in interviews.
They all agree that V learns the choreography the quickest of any of them. I really cannot figure how they remember all the dance routines for all the songs. I couldn't do ONE. Amazingly talented guys.

The Korean language is very sonically pleasing. I started watching shows from various parts of the world and I just fell in love with the sound of the Korean language watched many k-dramas. This led me to BTS which then led me to other kpop artists. BTS's brand is positivity and lyrically they are very strong which is one of the reasons they have such a huge fan base. Me being one.
So true, I fell in love with the language and already started to learn it, I basically like how it rolls off my tongue 😅

I have to gush but when you guys stopped to compliment Jin @ 5:32, I was so happy because Jin has come very far with his live singing voice. he struggled a lot at the beginning of his career and now its obvious to everyone how talented he has become!

@@FarahEmoticonna You're not making sense. His voice naturally, without effects, sounds auto-tuned because his pitch is crystal-clear. In the produced version, and in this version, there's autotune in the mics/computers which is why members (not Jungkook) that don't have crystal-clear pitch sound great as well.

Jhope the red mic guy is a Rapper and a sub vocalist... He actually has a beautiful voice and we get to hear him sing from time to time in some of bts song
People sleep on Jhope. His performances are always so stable in terms of dance and vocals. The main part is that smile and energy. Gets me every time and he's not even my bias.

The final song, Spring Day, is like a Korean anthem. It’s nearly 4 years old and has remained on the Korean charts. It’s about a national tragedy that really hits home for Koreans.

Loving Melia's face during the beginning of Dynamite. So cute how amazed you looked. Also Jimin last guy on the right, when you say he squeaked I think it's part of his vocal technique or personal style preference. To me it sounds like a cry at the end of his phrasing, again I think that's his vocal style and it can be more pronounced in other songs.

The other Jungkook related videos as suggested by OP are great but a bit too outdated and doesn't show Jungkook's actual skills now :) But the high notes and falsettos one is nice!

the one you praised his breath control is jin, he’s known for his high notes and stability, he has such a good technique and his solo songs prove that. i suggest you to take a look at his song “epiphany” and bts room live is also a good example of how good the whole group is and the versatility of their discography

They did put a lot on him, he writes a lot, he sings and leads a lot, but it’s because they believe so much in him. This group, their honesty and vulnerability, and obvious talent is why so many people believe in them
Jimin’s voice is natural! It is not manufactured. You don’t need to ‘sing loud’ to be an amazing singer. But he has a very full voice when it’s necessary!
J-Hope sounds like he is talking, yes, it makes sense because he's one of the rappers of the group. (they have 3 rappers and 4 vocalists)
but they talked about how he LOOKS like he is talking not how he sounds like it. it's just about how wide he opens his mouth to vocalize because there are many different ways to vocalize something and how open you make the sound with your mouth plays a part in that.
J-Hope just sings naturally with very little effort and sounds wonderful. I wish they would give him more chances to show off the nice relaxed style he shows here. He's damn good singer. The coaches are just saying that he isn't getting all expressive and opening his mouth any further than necessary to sing the part. That's what I like about this video. He nails it so easily.
Gosh! It makes me so happy to see BTS appreciated. Especially Jungkook, because at first I was like you all are not saying anything about his voice... but then at 19.50 ish you said he is very strong vocally and has a powerful voice, which is true. A lot of vocal coaches, teachers, critics has said that he is a powerful singer. If you want to hear acapella and/or raw vocals from Jungkook, the main vocalist with purple mic, then I suggest watching Jungkook singing on vlive by IdaS or Jungkook singing on vlive by Chimmybun. He loves to sing and whenever he is live he often sings for us army! 💜 He has such an amazing voice, it's like autotune but it's not. He is known for always being on pitch! For all of BTS: Life Goes On acapella on Genius channel. It's probably the closest you can hear all of them acapella I think? Apart from that, I'd suggest watching BTS armypedia, BTS room live for performances without dancing. Otherwise, MMA 2019, 2020 :)

Tae's mixed register is so pretty, but all of his voice is. He's got such a rich baritone voice and such a velvety timbre. He's my favorite vocalist.

I hear what you're saying about the effects, but the reason you may catch a lot of crap from ARMY about it... is that we have all heard them sing live... without mics, on the spot, on vlives, back stage in green rooms, walking down a hallway... throughout the past 10 years and we KNOW how they sound... and it is hardly any different than you hear here. Don't believe me... check out JK's vlive where he sings pieces of random songs for over 30 minutes while on vlive, sitting in his computer chair and eating a salad...

The guy on the far right is Jimin - to hear him sing without a microphone just search Jimin acapella :) There are compilations of all of them. It's mostly small clips, or them fooling around, but you can still hear what they sound like without effects.
Jungkook is known for his stable naturally autotoned voice he is an amazing singer absolutely talented listen to him more and you will be honestly amazed and will fall in love with his heavenly angelic soulful voice 🤍
There are a lot of videos with them singing without mics at all. Look up Jungkook’s Vlives. He is just singing in front of a cell phone. Also, what sounds like an effect is just Jimin’s voice, not auto tune.
There some tuning, and it's fine.
Jimin has a really unique voice. With or without autotune, it still sounds the same to me. Even when he inhaled helium and sang, there's not much difference.

The way you replayed jin's scene and still be amazed are such a mood.
Jimin's voice may seem to have effects, more and indeed the way he sings. He has a very high-pitched voice
But he also has a chest voice (his low range) Perfect Man shows this well. His own talking voice is also quite low as well especially when he speaks in his Busan accent.
[*listens to explanation of singing in English vs other languages*] So that's a reason why after "teaching" myself to sing using Japanese songs, once I tried to sing in English at school, I sounded nowhere near as good as I [think I] did in Japanese. Jungkook/Purple mic is annoyingly good at everything. Literally everything, musical or non. And he's the youngest. Infuriating. :'D

Especially in the beginning, he acted as the group's translator, though the other members have become very good in their own right in recent years. He's the actual leader of the group, and is an incredibly intelligent young man. Each of the members is so special in their style, talent, and just as human beings, which is one reason why they're so beloved. I have my favorite members, but I love the group as a whole for what each member brings.

With kpop, one has to keep in mind that everything concerning the singing - e.g. harmonizing - is being affected by an always ongoing, very intense dance choreography. It's always impressive to see their stability while performing (well, another thing. Since the choreographies can be quite demanding there's a lot of backing tracks in kpop) The discussion about the different placement of languages is quite interesting, too.

JK does NOT need Autotune. He is that good just acapella. Watch many videos where he just sings off the cuff. He seems to have perfect pitch and I don't think I've ever heard him miss a note. He was born to sing. I have great respect for what he can do with almost no effort.

Btw, a lot actually believe kpop is more of an "industry" rather than a certain "genre". Thats because people seem to always pigeon-hole various types of music coming out from korean artists as "kpop" and use the term to generalise it all (often in a condescending way). Given bts for example, they make music not bound by any genre and often dip into many genres. They have r&b, hip hop, pop, edm, trap, moombahton and more. Many music journalists/insiders have called it the "BTS genre" coz bts seemed to have found their own sound as a group. Im not saying that what you said is bad or anything tho, im just offering a little insight/peak into what general public calls "kpop" :)

Good points. I would just add that Kpop (the industry specifically as well as popular Korean music generally) crosses genre boundaries all the time. This is not new nor unique to BTS. What BTS does is amazing by making any music their own. You certainly know when a song is BTS!

Yes V (green mic vest guy) is a baritone and his vocal range is around octave 4...he can easily flip his voice from being so deep to chest voice, head voice and falsetto so smoothly He is known for having deep and soulful voice

Thank you for your reaction! It was awesome. And just so you know, the guy with the purple mic is jungkook. He is the youngest, main vocalist and his voice is the most stable even when dancing. The guy in the far right, with gold mic, is jimin. He has one of the brightest tenor and those squeaks are his signature style. His voice may seem like autotuned but it's just his voice. The guy with pink mic is jin. His voice has a nasally quality which adds to his uniqueness. And the guy with green mic, the one in the vest, is V. He is actually a baritone. But since his baritone deep voice doesn't suit their kind of music mostly, he brightens his voice a bit in many songs. And he also has the widest range among them all. So these four are the vocalists and the other 3 are the rappers as you can see. Check out their solo stuffs if you wanna know more about their voices individually because what you hear in their group songs may not be their actual vocal colour in some songs.

Jimin has a very naturally high voice, it’s kind of nasally. Like even his leaning voice so that nasal sound kind of reflects onto his singing. He also just... like literally always squeaks. Like when he laughs... he talks. So at this point, it might be a stylistic choice I’m not sure honestly.

Suga’s squeak when he raps, the cry and vibrato on Jimin’s voice, V’s insane range, etc. And somehow they just keep getting better and better. They have even improved since this Tiny Desk concert. Jungkook is approaching god-tier status at this point. I recommend watching one of their recent live Film Out performances and a live performance of Your Eyes Tell. Gorgeous stuff.

Ya exactly. And honestly they naturally have a auto tuned voice especially Jimin. For dynamite there’s audio tune bc they said they like it sometimes. But for save me and Spring day they actually sound like that without it. Jimin has a squeak to his voice and it’s very high. The squeak he has makes ppl believe he uses adjoins tune and same for Jin sometimes. Jimin, Jin and JK have that highness to their voice. You should react to the Fix me cover and some of their live performances.

I love their breakdown on Save me, the absolute delight and surprise when they started singing, and she's ryt, korean is so beautiful and melodic and the vowels in words all flow so well together, which adds so much more colour to the voice.
