This channel is the reason I don’t watch TV shows anymore…. No nonsense.
yeah for me tv is for bad weather and football games - thats it
Perfectly said!
Cars are nonsense , but that kind of nonsense which i like 😎
and scared of diesel run a way hehehe Trick. Use maginet on a stick to take off last turn of oil plug. no oil on hands Best video yet love the trucker song. recovery straight pipes all awesome
TV is for fools.
you know it’s gonna be a damn good day when Chris uploads
And GUS and turbo in the B. ROLL
agreed
Yep. He just needs stop wasting all that time sleeping and eating so he can post more videos.
Totally! I also enjoy Jenn's videos.
Dude, you scored! Diesel, 4WD, 4-sp w/ gear vendor, rollback, w/ a sleeper. You won the truck lottery! With that kind of luck, I wouldn't be surprised if you found a wad of $100 bills stashed in the sleeper somewhere. Way to go! Keep them coming.
thats a gutless turd 454 would have been better. that engine makes like 160hp and 290ft/lbs
@@moparjr89 Takes one to know one
@@moparjr89you’re to generous with those number 😂 130hp and 240ftlbs of torque. With a Bank’s sidewinder turbo installed you’re looking at an increase of 60+ hp and 115+ on the torque though. Those are huge gains when you think about where they started.
For "not knowing much about the 6.2 diesel" you sure did a fantastic job diagnosing and fixing that one! Loved the whole episode and props to the viewer who sent the nice gifts to Gus and Turbo!
❤ Good on you for the "Props" to the sender of the toys and such for Gus and Turbo, that was a nice thing to say and it tickled me to read that comment.
Got to love Google! 😂
I've never seen a road where you can drive beside a train! That's pretty wild. Got a good laugh when you commented on the 10" stack in that guy's truck "so dumb looking". I couldn't agree more.
It's the railway's access road for doing maintenance. They can't fence off every kilometer/ mile of track.
@@user-ot7ec4uc3gdo they fence off any mile of track? I don't think that was a maintenance road, looks like a historic industrial area and it's just 1 businesses access.
Can't wait to watch this tonight. Wish me luck my grandma has dementia and my family is giving me her boat that's been sitting for 15 years. Hope to get it running and take her for a ride in it. See if she remembers it.
Sorry to hear about your grandmother. good luck on the boat!
Gus is all K9 when it comes to eating something on the ground,if they can't sleep with it or eat it they won't have nothing to do with it !!.........
long term memories are intact!
My nan passed a few years back. For the last 7yrs of her life we watched her disappear in front of us. It's a truly evil illness to witness. My thoughts are with you.
Best of luck..
The older I get, the quieter i like my vehicles. Hearing the truck after the exhaust fix was very satisfying
I find myself enjoying listening to a smooth running engine going through the gears more than a loud exhaust.
Same! I'm glad I took care of the leaking exhaust manifold on my Cadillac. The left side manifold was almost a lost relic of the ages.
What a unit!! 4x4 sleeper aluminum deck . I like alot. A friend built a 6.2 with 6.5 heads, bigger cam, "marine" injectors and modded the injection pump for more fuel delivery. Then added a banks Turbo kit for the 6.5. Truck runs really well. A little fine tuning the pump is still needed but that's ok. And it was all bolt together. I think roller rockers are there too. The truck is a 1991 3500 4x4 crew with a shortened frame to fit a step side short box. Runs a np205 with a 4L80 which are factory equipped. And of course a 14 bolt ff with disc brakes and those Cadillac I think calipers with the parking brake feature (hard to find)and a 60 up front and 4.56 factory installed gears. What a rare of a truck creation. I love it!
I bet it sleeps better than a tent in the parking lot, like at Duct Tape Drags......that's when I knew Jenn was a trooper.
anything sleeps better than a tent tbh
That be tight with two people....
Tight is good 😁@@MicroSoftner
That truck is an amazing find. I love the excitement when you first moved the bed!
Score!!!!!!!😅😅😅😅😅😅
Two years ago what I knew about mechanics you could write on the back of a stamp, I started rebuilding old chainsaws and learned a lot, I done my first service on my own van 6 months ago, just bought my first ever 4x4 crewcab truck a 2003 isuzu tfs54 in ridiculously good condition, few little things to do, but I'm no longer worried about trying to maintain my vehicles thanks to you and your channel, you make it seem so normal, which is great for my confidence, you make it seem like anything is possible, so thank you. 🙏🏼 😊
I’ve literally watched almost every video on this channel and now I’m stuck waiting for new ones. Easily my favorite channel
The only thing wrong with this truck is it didn’t have Chris’s name on it with a NNKH sticker! A match made in heaven!!! Can’t wait for the next episode of this truck and of course it needs a name!!! Congratulations!!!
THAT TRUCK IS AWESOME!!!! I’m 62 grew up in the 60s and I’m TOTALLY a car guy and LOVE the straight pipes 💪🏽. I CRACKED UP when you went under the bridges and would rev the engine something we would do 😂😂🤙🏼. THANKS AGAIN for your videos 😎🍒
MY DUDE THIS IS WHAT KEEPS THE MEMORY OF MY DAD ALIVE IS VIDEOS LIKE THIS, THANK U🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is why I love this channel, always learning a ton from yea. Can't thank you enough for taking the time to explain things and situations.
You are so talented. Enjoy watching you figure out the mechanical problems.
just started watching this channel from the mustang video, and no joke i’m around 18 and have been either wanting to be a mechanic or a plumber but definitely going with the mechanic route now ! keep up the great work homie
id suggest the plumber job, and mechanic as a hobby.
I have been both for 30 plus years. mechanics is more fun but harder on your back
Loved when you said no license plates looking at you ! You did-a great job getting non running truck on the road
Chris. I love your channel. I'm 52 & I love the fact that you & your wife listen to older music. I'm like the guy commenting below. I haven't turned my TV on in over a year. I watch youtube almost exclusively. Keep up the good work my friend. You seem cool. Looking forward to meeting you one of these days. The Gus man too.
You're a magician man, that starter fix was brilliant.
I like the way you diagnose everything so professionally. VERY INTERESTING TO WATCH.
Always ready for a NNKH upload from Chris, you just know it’s going to be good 👍🙂
Less than ten minutes in, and as ever your enthusiasm for rusty old cars never ceases to amaze me. Good vid, it looks pretty good tbh, a new front grill might be an idea, hey it's a thought.
This is the only channel I’ve found where I hit the like button before watching the video
Same!
I hit it for anything I watch for free. It helps everyone.
Gushing fanboy comments are more than just a bit cringeworthy. 'Murica is definitely an odd, and very strange place.
You would love Puddins Fab Shop.
Hey Chris, About your gutless 350 TBI. I worked at a GM Dealer back in that era, and they made aftermarket PROM's that made a HUGE difference in power and cold runability. I installed 100's of them and drove almost all before and after, absolutely incredible difference. If they are still available, it's worth your time looking into them. Another great video, keep up the great content!!!
I was stoked to see that you had uploaded another video. You got some big kahonies out there in the dark pulling that burned out Jeep outta the backwoods. I would have waited for day light. Your natural problem-solving ability on anything mechanical is amazing. Keep up the good work dude! Thanks for sharing.
It’s interesting that you are so confident in your skills that you would take an untested vehicle to pickup that car. At night even. Great job!
Nice job quick thinking with the short timber and maneuvering to pop up the front end of the jeep, Chris! So many little things you do showcase your ingenuity and engineering skills, well done sir!
I love this style video just problem solving and hunting to see what you got. Something about getting something really cheap that you can make work as good as something new even for a short time is fun and challenging
Those are some mad trailer backing skills!
Thanks Chris...always a pleasure kicking back and watching your channel on a Saturday 😊😊😊...You are .... the engine whisperer 👍👍👍👍
I think that truck is a keeper, perfect for hauling projects home
your deduction skills are unmatched...
The repair shop i worked at did AAA towing, all our rollbacks were aluminum bed, the steel ones either had to be kept oiled or painted, the aluminum ones we didnt have to worry about it. Those beds are made from a aluminum alloy, so are tougher than you think.
Chris You are the epitome of Anything is easy if you know how! You are a very talented young man , well done.
I’m at the 57 minute mark on flat bed video great buy !
This dude is like the father we all wanted🤣😅
Haha😂
Maybe brother..he ain't old!
Or the son...for some of us 😁
This one has by far been my favorite video.
That hat you found was for Little Red a hydronic heating pump made by Bell & Gossett.
Thanks for the info. I did a quick search and nothing else popped up except that children's song. LOL so I rolled with it
It looks like with a few suspension repairs, new exhaust, and MAYBE some new Rockers if You cared, You'd have an awesome Rollback for Your adventures in Auto Archeology. Edit: That Racor filter You found in the truck is a MASSIVE upgrade. It's well worth installing.
Great video. I worked on those when they were new. Factory recall had us replace the head gaskets and new head bolts. A month later factory recall replace head gaskets and install studs in place of head bolts. We used to pull the front clip of of the truck to work on them. Imagine the customers shock when he came in to see the work in progress. Toughest ones to work on was the vans. I love the Gus man. Thanks for including a little bit of Jen. PS I would have bought it just because it had a tilt steering column.
Any squarebody today is a score and I cringe when I see other YT EPS. CRUSH. MID 80S ONE JUST FOR THE $$$$$$$........SAD☹️☹️☹️☹️
Always a fun ride with NNKH….thanks, Chris!
That was one of your best videos yet , never gets old unlike some of the other KZheadrs cheers.
The sleeper being connected is so cool
Watching you pull that rusty wreck calls to mind a Bob Dylan song with lyrics, " It ain't hard to stumble and land in some muddy lagoon, specially when its 5 below zero and, three o'clock in the afternoon "

Watching you driving truck you were like a kid so excited. Thanks for awesome video
Thanks Chris for another top notch episode, every time I learn something new, if folks don't like your terminology let them move on to something else, those of us that appreciate your knowledge know how long these videos are to make and the dedication it takes, keep up the great content.
Brought back fond memories, back in the late 90s I had 3 suburbans, one blazer, and my trusty plow truck that were all the Detroit 6.2 Diesel. My plow truck ran circles around a Dodge snow commander, and we took the 84 suburban to Florida a few times and always got around 24mpg and they were all 4 wheel drive.
Indeed, my eyes roll back (this video too) whenever I hear people whining about the 6.2 and 6.5. The were products of their time, such as 55 mph speed limits and crazy fuel prices. They did their job, albeit not speed demons. Yes, they have a classic diesel clatter. Do a few minor, but vital upgrades, and these are faithful work horses. GM, as always, had moron bean counters spoiling things, thus the needed upgrades. We have a 1996 Suburban 6.5 Turbo Diesel, and we enjoy the truck, it is used in nice weather for long distance travel, fuel mileage is great too!
@@SammyVista1972 Before I had those diesels I even had an olds and a cadillac with the 5.7 conversion by oldsmobile and loved them, got 30 mpg. I actually got to know the vice president of star division and they actually had all the bugs worked out but because of all the issues they had to abandon it. I got rid of them when they did the nationwide scam that diesel is more expensive when its the the product that comes first before gasoline in the refining process. Biggest scam ever. I got to 200k on all of them and they were still going, only had to rebuild one injector pump very minimal motor issues.
Great video Chris, I love the videos where you show a problem, then fix the problem. Very satisfying.
im not even a car guy and I love watching these videos lol. something about the rawness and realness that make it so interesting to watch
You are a very smart dude and I ;learn something each and every time. I wish you all the best
Epic, buy Chris, now you can get all those vehicles to repair easily. That rig will pay for itself. With the scrap you find. Can't wait to see more repairs and upgrades on this old car hauler. 😊😊
One of the NNKH’s best episodes! Amazing ability to spot a “diamond in the rough” and get the work done to make it useful again. Great mind for seeing to the root of a problem - and fixing it with solutions affordable to most folks. Thank you!
Yeah I’m always waiting for the next video and hate to wait for it. I could watch Chris talk as he is working on old car and trucks all day. Love watching and learning. Keep them coming. Really bring me a sense of relaxation.
This really showcases some of your "know how". Amazing skills to make something work when others would not have been able to.
Well the roll back has a ton of potential! It sounds good with the new exhaust. I was hesitant of this vehicle when the video began, I'm happy to see that it has turned out this good! Good deal Chris and I am looking forward to the upcoming Mustang videos.
Always a pleasure watching your videos. I bought a brand new chevy 2500 with a 6.5 diesel in 1997. No power and hard on fuel. Wouldn't start up in 90 degree heat without glow plugs. A complete dog of a engine. It drove me to buy a dodge with a 5.9 cummings , and never looked back. your the man .
It's spelled cummins
This video came at the perfect time. I'm in the UK with a Chevy G20 with the same 6.2. I'd been having similar issues. I went through exactly what you did and it solved everything! Thank you! 🙂
this thing is a beast i love it, we’re building an 87 gmc 4x4 for another tow pig, rebuilt 8.1 out of an 01 2500 that is now chevy performance orange a new allison 1000, np205 1 ton axles
Great motor.
What a great buy, and immediately in action. Just opened a revenue source that pays dividends for those stuck etc...Great upload..
watching you smile and hit it full throttle gives me a good smile man.. love to see it
I admire your ability to make it work! I'd give anything to be half as handy as you are in the mechanic department.
This is my absolute favorite channel on KZhead! I watched these out of order so I know how well the truck towed the mustang out of town and laughing at your unsure confidence in this knowing you love it now!
The third bolt on the starter mount is 100% MANDATORY!! leave that off and the big bolts will sheer in the block. I bought a lot of those for cheap rolling the dice on a helicoil.
Don't forget proper starter bolts! I've seen a few 6.2/6.5's with busted off starter mounts thanks to people putting in regular Grade 8 bolts. The bolts are engineered to snap off and save the block, thus why GM used SAE 9.8 bolts, which are Grade 5ish equivalents.
just got done making bison meatball sliders...perfect timing for a video drop!!!!
I loved my old 6.2 gravel bucket ran like a beast ..... a beast with about 30 mouse power
For a 6.2, I think it's running really nice and smooth 👌
This video popped up and I said oh man this truck is so cool I can’t wait to check this out. but about 10 minutes in and I said to myself well I’m ready for a Gus intermission, and there he was❤❤❤
Hey I wanna see a full restoration of this truck !!! Love it
You mean to tell me that you can have a single video showing everything instead of having four dozen videos? Who knew?
Chris, I love it when things fall your way and you make things look so damn easy to fix. When I seen you had a new video I could not wait to get in bed and watch your new episode. Nice to see good things happen to good people. Please keep them coming. Bob.
Im a new subscriber. Really got into this video. Im not into diesel but watching you diagnose n repair changed my mind. Great video
I love this truck! You MUST keep it!
Certainly need to put down plywood under tow vehicles with NO WHEELS or a wheel dolly ….obviously you will scar up a nice aluminum deck , But Aluminum decks are nice because they are strong and much lighter than the steel !!! Work smarter, not harder !!
Another awesome video thank you! Great work by that exhaust shop crazy how much quieter it got
My god that old mustang. So many memories…..I love this old truck… seeing my bro troubleshooting makes me grin
Love thy NNKH neighbour 🔧⚙️🔨
While it's a 100% accurate statement that the 6.2/6.5’s are absolute gutless turds, I've seen more than a few that beat the odds with meticulous maintenance and lived waaay longer than expected. Like 400k..
I was disappointed at first but this one runs pretty good and I kind of like it for the application. Works well. I'm excited to see the fuel economy
i''d 454 swap it real quick.
All the 6.2 diesels ive come across, regardless of application, seem to get around 20mpg loaded/unloaded, doesnt matter. @NoNonsenseKnowHow
I really liked how you got the engine to run so much smoother by just freeing up that whatchamacallit! Great know how for sure. 😀
The watchamacallit was the key all along to making it purr like a kitten 🤓👍
Always love when I find a random KZheadr and they're from my old neighborhood.
Nnkh is the best KZheadr of all KZheadrs. Nice cat
best channel, even better than camarata
You have to keep it..
Really enjoy your videos. We use the 6.2, 6.5 and turbo versions in various Landcruiser and Nissan Patrols here in Australia. My daily driver for 10 years was a Landcruiser 80 series with a N/A 6.5, it goes anywhere, tows anything, never missed a beat.
Listen, I'm a mechanic, and I'm happy to see you doing this, and I only wish I was there to assist you while learning a trick or 2 from you 🎉🎉🎉
Please please do an update video on this thing and pull those lady decals off and cut/polish the truck. It deserves it! Nice score, love to see this thing cleaned up.
Always click on these vids...thanks Chris
Great video Chris I'm glad you brought us along on this revive on the rollback I can't wait to see more usage out of that rollback
That sounds brings back many many many hours of my life ! We even had a couple blazers with the 6.2 diesel and all of them had under 40k miles and not one of them would start in the cold without either !!! The rule in the winter was if you got it started it ran all day !!!
She's a diesel and a sleeper cab, come on!!! wooo hooo!
So does that mean da balls is going to da crusha…🧟♂️
I’m trying to enjoy my projects the way you do. My frustration is likely due to the lack of knowledge. Thanks for the motivational content 🤘
Nice truck. Really has everything you need. Even though the video was over an hour long, it went by in the blink of an eye. Excellent video. Thanks.
Great latest upload...loved it ....But you have to re-capture the original exhaust sound!....it's a sound that just puts a smile on your face and you end up just laughing as you drive down the road 😁
It's true! Might have to order some electric dumps for it. That would be cool
What! You did not have GM starter shims next to the Sea Shell drawer! LOL. Just kidding.
I do now! LOL
@@NoNonsenseKnowHow 👍 LOL
Yes! This will definitely be my favorite NNKH project. Looking forward to seeing more! Thanks Chris. 🍻
Good job Chris as always. You’re one talented dude that gets things done. 😊 Oh my I’m watching the end where Gus is getting his presents and he is so excited and funny as can be. He always puts big long smiles on my face. 😊
Great job Chris. You always have some great classic country playing. I could hang out in your shop - keep up the great work!
Dam I miss that dairy queen, glad to see its still open. I love this channel for the cars and the scenery. I've been down in Florida for over 20yrs now and I miss up north.
absolutely perfect video, exactly how i would of repaired this rig, functional without going overboard, cant stress enough how i like that this channel is keeping on topic as it grow, currently my number 1 reason to take a break from firing parts at my junk morpars.. keep it coming
fun episode...Gus, Jen, and your excitement when the truck fired up!...all in all a successful purchase. Keep on trucking...
Thanks for the video! My dad had a 6.2 I learned to drive stick on it. They are not as cold blooded as the fords, but at least with his it was close. Lose one glowplug it starts hard. Lose 2 and expect to have to plug it in or use the hard stuff
