  • What a unit!! 4x4 sleeper aluminum deck . I like alot. A friend built a 6.2 with 6.5 heads, bigger cam, "marine" injectors and modded the injection pump for more fuel delivery. Then added a banks Turbo kit for the 6.5. Truck runs really well. A little fine tuning the pump is still needed but that's ok. And it was all bolt together. I think roller rockers are there too. The truck is a 1991 3500 4x4 crew with a shortened frame to fit a step side short box. Runs a np205 with a 4L80 which are factory equipped. And of course a 14 bolt ff with disc brakes and those Cadillac I think calipers with the parking brake feature (hard to find)and a 60 up front and 4.56 factory installed gears. What a rare of a truck creation. I love it!

Imagine the customers shock when he came in to see the work in progress. Toughest ones to work on was the vans. I love the Gus man. Thanks for including a little bit of Jen. • Brought back fond memories, back in the late 90s I had 3 suburbans, one blazer, and my trusty plow truck that were all the Detroit 6.2 Diesel. My plow truck ran circles around a Dodge snow commander, and we took the 84 suburban to Florida a few times and always got around 24mpg and they were all 4 wheel drive.

    @ES-xc6fk@ES-xc6fk27 күн бұрын
    • Indeed, my eyes roll back (this video too) whenever I hear people whining about the 6.2 and 6.5. The were products of their time, such as 55 mph speed limits and crazy fuel prices. They did their job, albeit not speed demons. Yes, they have a classic diesel clatter. Do a few minor, but vital upgrades, and these are faithful work horses. GM, as always, had moron bean counters spoiling things, thus the needed upgrades. We have a 1996 Suburban 6.5 Turbo Diesel, and we enjoy the truck, it is used in nice weather for long distance travel, fuel mileage is great too!

    • @@SammyVista1972 Before I had those diesels I even had an olds and a cadillac with the 5.7 conversion by oldsmobile and loved them, got 30 mpg. I actually got to know the vice president of star division and they actually had all the bugs worked out but because of all the issues they had to abandon it. I got rid of them when they did the nationwide scam that diesel is more expensive when its the the product that comes first before gasoline in the refining process. Biggest scam ever. I got to 200k on all of them and they were still going, only had to rebuild one injector pump very minimal motor issues.

    • Don't forget proper starter bolts! I've seen a few 6.2/6.5's with busted off starter mounts thanks to people putting in regular Grade 8 bolts. The bolts are engineered to snap off and save the block, thus why GM used SAE 9.8 bolts, which are Grade 5ish equivalents.

  • Certainly need to put down plywood under tow vehicles with NO WHEELS or a wheel dolly ….obviously you will scar up a nice aluminum deck , But Aluminum decks are nice because they are strong and much lighter than the steel !!! Work smarter, not harder !!

  • While it's a 100% accurate statement that the 6.2/6.5’s are absolute gutless turds, I've seen more than a few that beat the odds with meticulous maintenance and lived waaay longer than expected. Like 400k..

  • Really enjoy your videos. We use the 6.2, 6.5 and turbo versions in various Landcruiser and Nissan Patrols here in Australia. My daily driver for 10 years was a Landcruiser 80 series with a N/A 6.5, it goes anywhere, tows anything, never missed a beat.

  • That sounds brings back many many many hours of my life ! We even had a couple blazers with the 6.2 diesel and all of them had under 40k miles and not one of them would start in the cold without either !!! The rule in the winter was if you got it started it ran all day !!!
