This week, we take a look at a content creator named Dr. Witnesser; who "brings the gospel to gamers". He was banned from Twitch recently for a pretty gnarly reason, so come along as we take a closer look at what exactly happened.

When christians told me i was going to hell I wasn't afraid of going to hell I was afraid of what people who believed that were willing to do. After all, if me being a lesbian means I will be tortured forever then they could justify any abuse to 'fix' me, because any amount of suffering inflicted upon me was justified because by its very nature it was in their minds the lesser of two evils. No matter what they'd do even if it included harm it could not be as bad as eternal torture... The church also focused on 'saving souls' and that dying people should not be given medical treatment and food etc (or at least it should not be a priority) that was not as important as telling them about god because at least their souls were saved. That's the true horror in that kind of a mindset to me

Like don't they realize that people are more likely to not believe in hell if you keep telling them they'll go there? "You're going to hell" "Hell isn't real lol" vs "You're going to heaven" "Oh, that seems nice! Tell me more!"

    • Right?! It literally causes trauma and should be considered abuse, I was sent to an away camp for the first time when I was ten...a Christian away camp unbeknownst to me..and I literally cried the first two nights because I was told if I didn’t pray and give my life to Jesus and if my family and friends and everybody I had ever loved didnt, we were all going to hell. I didn’t know if my family had or if anybody I loved had so I was fucking FREAKING OUT, not to mention I had already had anxiety, insomnia, depression, and ptsd by that point (the beginnings of it) so that kind of mental stress fucked me up and sent me into years of indoctrination, shame, guilt, and mind fuckery. I’m 32 and still recovering from my childhood..and the religion isn’t the worst of it...but it’s still a huge part.

The dude was in his 30's and I in my 20's, he asked if he could talk to us about the Bible and I basically said "Sure, but I don't think I'm your type." I was nice about it, I grew up in a family of strict Mormans and Catholics so I just kinda space out during the speals but it's whatever. Basically he started getting mad that I was being nice but still not 'converting'. I also pointed out that the bible he was using was heavily misprinted version and was taking verses out of context. We had a conversation about dinosaurs and I tried to explain why people who believe in dinosaurs think why people who don't are crazy. I said that 'If I told you dinos lived on the moon, you would think I'm insane" he no joke said maybe they did and god will tell us one day... Then he got super aggressive and left after someone said the Satanist was nicer than the Christian 😂

  • My parents church proposed a pyramid scheme to convert everyone into Christianity. They said that if everyone in the room converted one person, and that person converted one person, and on and on. That one part is the only thing I remember from church, along with eating crayons during the kids service.

  • As a Christian, hellfire and stone preaching has always upset me. It is ineffective, and upsets people. There is a good middle ground when it comes to preaching, but telling people they suck and are going to hell is just not the way to do it.

    • Literally every culture or country engaged in LGBTQ+ throughout history. Though, I only know that it wasn't strange to see in Ancient Greece, Rome, Japan, and China, it was definitely there everywhere.

  • As i understand it 'Speaking his name in vain' does _not_ mean saying "Oh my God" is a bad thing. What it means is you can't use God for your own selfish interests... _like asking people to give you money in the name of god so you can have a private jet_
