Love how Guy instantly bonds with a bunch of fellow law-defying mechanics over a deadly sport. Maybe he's Colombian after all
Hahaa, Guy is the epitome of law-obeyers. 😂
I second that. It must be natural in this environment otherwise they'll smell the bullishit a mile away. I don't think most of this kids knew Guy's background, probably didn't care until He walk the walk that until the end as It shows they embraced him. The whole video is really kool, transcending madness with an evenly humbleness. Just watching it was really nice, no wonder Guy was loving it and even better that He had overall a great experience in Locombia and as a Colombian really pleases me.
@@samuelgarrod8327Jajaja! Hard to comtemplate that.
Guy is such a down to earth person, very likeable even when in a different continent, with a language barrier. All time favourite sports/TV personality
More weight does not make a bike descend faster in virtue of it being heavier. It's a matter of giving the bike more momentum that that is less affected by road vibration and wind resistance. At a certain point there are diminishing gains.
Hell yeah!!! Finally, I'm not alone with gravity biking.... I've got a motorcycle fairing on mine... I live in northern California, and there's tons of of great descending here... I'd love to get down there and ride with those guys! Stay safe and solid amigos!
Im here in Spain feeling the same, this would be a nice sport, gravity bike races. We love you legend 💪
Guy thanks for coming to Colombia! First time I saw your documentary years ago I would have never guessed you'll be here. Thank You!
I'm 2m tall, so I built mine out of a Bontrager 24" BMX frame with Rock Shox DHO forks with an upside down BMX bar and a front disk brake. I run pegs on the rear axle for my feet and made knee platforms out of thick steel angle iron that hang and pivot from the bottom bracket.
Dude that sounds awesome
When I need to smile, I watch Guy.
yup, me in Pennsylvania in 1985, saw this in BMX+ magazine of sum Cali boys, so... I found a 700c road frame, flipped it upside down, added 24" wheel on rear, added 20" fork wit a 16" drum brake wheel on front, added backwards bars & footpegs, proceeded to hit 59+ mph (wit' friends tryna keep up in my car), just before dark, in the rain, on our local mountain! a total rush y'all! 🎉
I like guy martin when he makes a comment cuz you know it's from the heart ❤️
The shot at 5:55 is breathtaking. Well done!
Agreed, getting high the best way! 👍🏆
@@nigelcarrenAs a colombian, I can assure you that those guys 1000% smoked a couple joints while sitting on that ledge.
@@gkky_ Jajaja! I second that. I believe the cut that one out!.
Se me aguaron los ojitos al final, qué chimba los gravitosos 💓
Ojalá fuera popular en todo el mundo este deporte
the potential in theses dudes .. 👍
Man what a throwback for me, glad the algorithm decided to put this in front of me. I learned about GPV racing back in the 80s and made my first one out of an old Murray BMX frame. Walked it up to the top of the longest downhill I knew of and proceeded to go faster than I ever had before, no helmet, no pads and rim brakes. I have been thinking about building another out of a cruiser size frame for the last couple years with disc brakes on it and seeing this makes me want to do it even more.
We did this in the 80s with BMX bikes flipped over, slicks and pegs and dropped bars. Full drag knee stuff, was insane. Surprissed I am still alive.
That sound fun
Non esiste strada, legge, paese dove la passione non possa stravolgere il mondo! ❤️
Who cares this a reupload! Be glad that they not completly removed it.😢 Al the series Guy makes are top notch, just because he's a normal person not a fancy celeb. Also big credits to all of his team that go with him offcourse beautifull shots always.👍
"normal person"
Mannn i was really hoping someone would make a video about these guys, its a culture/sport youll find in every town in the andean mountains of Colombia. It was pretty trippy when i saw if for the first time
This has got to be one of the coolest videos on the entirety of youtube
Me and my friends were doing this back in 1987. It was popular in the BMX scene.
That looks like fun, my friends and I used to lay down on skate boards and do the same just didn't have a hill that epic!!
Guy Martin repping Clutch!! Epic !!
Why the re-upload?
U re always welcome in colombia!!!!!!
Every time make me smile
Fill the frame with lead shot. Buckshot from shot gun shells or lead fishing line weights.
Now that's proper 👌
Wowwww that was incredible, I like that sport 💪🏻✌🏻
love this
Guy Martin, also wearing a Clutch shirt. EPIC
I am not a welder but I am questioning that dudes skills in the beginning of the video.
I saw this when i lived in medellin for a couple of years. Nobody would believe me when i came back to the States. These kids were crazy af gondown these hills.
Brilliant deja-vu
Excelente
It's dangerous and many die.... Guy is in...👍👍👍
That looked pretty slow to me. The danger of dying must be on a different downhill. I think they took Guy to the bunny slope because they didn’t want to be responsible for Guy getting hurt ‘on their watch’. Lol
Have to upload FULL EPISODE
I didn’t need any more reasons to love guy, then I see him him a clutch shirt.
Great.
Different, unusual and unique niche future bike sport ( hopefully), would be great to see red bull rampage level with custom built bikes, would love to watch that...
CLUTCH🤘🏼
Fantastico 😍
a clutch shirt... good taste
W 😮w!! 🤔all that fun for the value of a round trip 👍
Allo Guy Martin
I like how Guy is wearing a Clutch shirt. That's a local band where I'm from in Maryland.A friend of mine went to highschool with those guys.
Look not to fast but the danger risk still have
Love Colombia
Awesome! You should try the "Coaster brake challenge" from Atomic cycles next 🤙
Nice video 👍
The cops closed the roads for the races 😂😂😂
Cool Clutch T-shirt
Far from Colombia's HIGHEST Road but it is a fun decent coming down into Medellín
Holy shit that's guy martin😮
Guy does have mucho control
Wow, 30 mph....
I watched the show , very good guy you need to take the drag bike to Officialy gassed you tube channel drag races!!!
Mantop
re-upload ????
Looks like.
Im surprised they dont use more caster/rake.
We do the same thing here in Barbados but way more sketch
I thought Isle of Man was deadly. ...turns out it's childs play compared to these death-defying pedalless bicyclists!
Estas neas si sabrán con quien estuvieron parchando? es decir el nivel y la historia de Guy Martin ?
👍🏾💪🏾
Adding more weight to the bike does not increase the acceleration. The vertical acceleration from gravity is approximately constant at about 9.8 metres per second per second. Force = Mass x Acceleration or written another way Force / Mass = Acceleration. If mass is doubled then the force from gravity is doubled and the acceleration remains the same. To maximse speed the best bet is to be as light as possible so that bearing friction and tyre rolling resistance are minimised.
Not, quite,... more mass equals more grip, and from that, higher cornering speeds become possible before sliding,.... to a point. Eventually, speed overcomes grip, and you're pulling stones out of skin.
@@PiDsPagePrototypes More weight means higher centrifugal force in a corner so more grip is needed from the tyres to resist. No doubt there is a sweet spot somewhere but adding weight always brings challenges.
@@keithfisk5641 It's all down low compared to where the rider is.
@@PiDsPagePrototypes not at all. Why even say that when there are actual real life examples of this not being true? F1 cars are made to be as light as possible to reduce MASS. Downforce is generated in a plane perpendicular to the center of mass of the car so it only presses the car down, and does not increase the centrifugal force that wants to fling the car off the race track and into the wall.
@@joemcmanus3585 Do F1 cars have engines, yes. Do Gravity Bikes Have Engines, NO. Do F1 cars use an engine to generate airspeed to make downforce, yes. Do Gravity bikes have an engine to generate airspeed to create downforce,.... No. Do you now realise why your statment was not thought out? Probably still not. Also, F1 cars mass is set by the rules, not the engineers.
Dude... they go slow af. 😂
In Malaysia kids play this on the highway
Basikal lajak
Geng budak lajak ni
Race the GCN guys on descent on road. They found bigger tyres better already. I suspect typical roadbikes just unnecessarily suck in many ways. A bit longer and slacker wouldn't make em slower on flat but faster downhill, but that doesn't work with the uci. Xc mtb geometry is probably better. Afterall motorcycles have longer slacker geo too. ... I don't know math i just know my bicycle at 70kmh is terrifying
😂😂
🎉❤
3:34 my fav hookworms tyres....
Need to neutralize that flame
Didn't you already do a downgill thing in a velomobile. Meaning you already know you want bigger and thinner wheels with sealed bearings to absolutely smoke the lot of em. I'll take my carbon s-worx TT bike and reign supreme!
Looks quite pedestrian.
Saddening that a normal everyday person can't enjoy columbia like guy did without the risk of ending up in a gutter.
: Most lads I started with are now dead, That's not enough to scare Guy, he's raced the Isle of Man 0:44
Been a while since I did physics, but F=MA is not applicable to speed here, A pea and a bowling ball both fall at 9.8 m/s2 and hit the ground at the same time. So it’s about friction and drag, I think?
Hmmm. I noticed me 100+kg roll down faster than others when things went downhill.
Maybe different with friction n ground contact involved?
"all my friends died doing this sport" proceeds to go down a hill at speeds that are not life threatening whatsoever.
Right, calling bullshit on that. 🤣
In malaysia we call it “basikal lajak”
There are two translators used here: one to translate English to Spanish and back, and another to translate Guy Martin to English (reverse not needed).
In malaysia we call it basikal lajak
In Malaysia we call it #BasikalLajak
I really hope Guy loves the band Clutch and not just wearing the T for the name! Great band
Aaahhh if you haven’t done something that involves speed horse power or give you this rust I can’t explain it to you cause you can’t put it into words can not be explained
basikal lajak lah siakk
Only in Malaysia.... basikal lajak for kid/teens
#basikallajak
Whys this poping up as just uploaded,i watched this days ago, wtf?
Same here!
I'm sat here thinking exactly the same thing, thought I was going mad for a minute
On a downer after the Columbian logistics
Name this bike from malaysia ..lajak bike🎉😊
Malaysia lagi extreme 😆 superman style
4:48 song name please
This is Colombia, you can't say Coke is not involved! It's crystalized courage!
I've never found the stuff all that compelling. However, at £3/gram, you might as well go crackers with the stuff! A bit of improved reaction times is just what these here fellows need.
#basikallajakmalaysia
Love you guy, but you might have to retake physics class 😂 Mass doesn't make you go faster. Sure, the force acting on the object is greater, but so is the mass that needs to be moved. Its larger momentum needs a higher force to accelerate it. The effect of a proportional increase in the force accelerating the object is cancelled out by a proportional increase in the required force to move the mass. See also the experiments Galileo did in Pisa, showing that two similar shaped masses of different weight do indeed fall at the same rate. Another way (which in my opinion makes more sense) is by looking at energy. Going from a certain height downwards, you convert gravitational energy into kinectic energy, minus some losses. Suppose we perfectly convert all that energy of a given height, we can equate the two to figure out the velocity: mgh = 0.5mv^2 Rewriting this we can get v=sqrt(2gh). As you can see, the mass component cancels out, only gravity and height difference are left. If anything, I suspect a heavier bike will go slower! Namely because of higher forces on the bearings and other points of friction, causing slightly higher losses.
lmfao :p
if you crash you die. cough cough TT. lol
That looks like fun but I would hardly say the speeds would kill you .
Its not the speed that kills you its the sudden unplanned stop or oncoming car or truck...
So all the badly made, clunky, too heavy kids bikes actually have an activity where they can shine. Seems the more overbuilt and heavy the bike the better it would be for this.
Yeah, that was not as impressive as I thought it was going to be.
an heavier bike wont make you fall faster hello? its basic physics how is noone pointing this out
I thought they would be faster.
😆😆 we call it Basikal lajak 😆😆😆 this makes kids copy to try lol and make more die on highway
