    • It's not brand new. It is several years old. Free to play is only partly true as there are in game purchases. Hypothetically one could play without paying, but it can be challenging. I played this at the beginning of the pandemic when I had plenty of time during my furlough, but then I was called back to work months later.

    • My main problem with this series is it feels forced like we jumped ahead a ton but now we have a decent Writer, whose trying to make adult John feel natural. I still see John as the kid from super sons because this is just a better written version of that "Bendis" Boy. I don't see this lasting due to the nature of comics but atleast it's well done. • I'm not against current issues being depicted in comic books, so long as the heroes aren't presented as having all the answers or the only solution. The writers are going to have to be very careful as to how someone as powerful as Clark or Jon solves a problem, as it could lead to the world of the Justice Lords rather than the Justice League.

    @kcollier2192@kcollier21922 жыл бұрын
    • Yeah I agree. If they explore a part where Jon is told to go do something to deal with a crisis or an issue and when it's fixed it results in an equally bad problem that would make a lot of sense. I'd be very impressed if they author tackled it that way, like he doesn't have all the answers to the world so he couldn't write a book on it but he could definitely explore how some issues impact others.

Superman could be seen as an invader forcing his well, but Jon is from earth and part human and everyone is aware of that apparently. This gives him some realistic responsibilities that we could relate to and wonder “how would Superman handle this”. It’s bigger than just punching the bad guy and that’s why this story intrigues me

Second, I really hope the author isn't going to say "We know right from wrong and Jon is going to enforce what's right". If that happens, Jon is going to be like a super powered version of Woodrow Wilson. He'll be loved by those who agree with him and absolutely despised by those who don't. To paraphrase Dolly Parton, it's not smart to piss off half your audience. Finally, I'm an old guy who's been following Superman since I was a toddler. I really just want the hero I grew up with. I don't mind if Jon is Superboy and has adventures with the Legion. But, I really want Clark to be Superman, work for the Daily Planet etc.

So there’s this one comic where Batman trades powers with Superman, so Bruce, with his newly found powers, plans to make the world perfect/the best it can be. So Batman does everything that he can and makes the world great, but at the end, he goes insane, with the lack of and alter ego where he can do normal things and not be a superhero all day and night, Batman goes insane… that’s how I remember it, if you want to know more I think “The Real Comic Book Gamer” brought it up in his review of this series

  • Tired of the forced politics in comics and DC Comics media. I wouldn't mind it so much if they made the heroes unbiased and I guess it really depends on the writers political affiliation but it's literally inescapable today since EVERYTHING is so politically charged. Like where do we catch a break from it if not from comics, movies, and TV? I hear from others "if you don't like it then don't read/watch it". That's not the point I'm making. DC Comics used to be my most favorite brand of comics to read and growing up as a kid reading them they didn't focus on all of this political bs. They focused on the heroes, the villains and individual relationships and growth while making a cohesive story. Today it's more about flair, politics, and gender/sexual orientation reveals. The villain is usually someone with political influence that oppose the political viewpoint of the heroes/writers. If DC Comics stopped politicizing their media and comics and their heroes remained unbiased in their comics then they'd have a much larger audience. Unfortunately they don't, so their only audience is those the politics targets. Not a good business strategy in my opinion especially when you're trying to profit from the material you come out with.
