dude half time chat sounds awesome! they should add it in options where players can select if they want it. then those who turn it on will be able to talk with other team. and i bet if they add that option, a lot of people will turn it on just to talk shit. except silvers maybe, but they talk shit too

The half time chat was the best part of the game by far, screaming and swearing at complete strangers for no reason for 15 seconds every game was classic

Fun fact: the gun sfx changing was due to the old ones earraping players. You can try listening to them yourself by downloading the 2013 demo and you can tell how loud and obnoxious they were back in the day compared to now.

@@ownagebox Wasn't pleasant for things like the AK. Spray that thing for more than 2 seconds and your ears would feel like it came out of a construction site.

They are still WAY too loud compared to footsteps
I remember these halloween event. In casual, when you die, you become a ghost and you can make noises, like open/close door, break things around the map. And whoever was alive, they can hear all that. Good times.

@@marsamune5592 i remember when Valve lowered the Zeus price down to like 100$ and every pro player bought it every save.. Kill +1500$. Also remember around NewYear or celebration they changed the sound to confetti so everyone in casual run around with zeus, horn and shoot confetti.
I remember when they decided to remove Aztec from casual maps. Aztec was so iconic throughout CS history that this decision was surprising at the time

Was playing Aztec in a game on CS:Source the other day, and while the map definitely has issues, there's an appeal to how open the map is that you just don't see with CS:GO maps anymore. Ancient is probably more balanced and competitively viable, but it feels so cramped and, in terms of layout, just feels like every other current CS:GO map.

The "wacky" and game-breaking updates were some of my favorite. The lack of interesting updates, even if they are "better", makes the game a bit less fun. The chaos once every few months was amazing, and they would always fix it quickly, but that window of fun reinvigorated the game for me. I really miss them, as well as weirder maps. It's almost too polished now to the point of being stale.

It's a pattern I'm seeing here. Nearly all of the broken CS:GO weapons for their time consisted of pistols. Tec-9, CZ, Deagle, R8, Five-SeveN, P250, hell, even the Glock.

The gun audio change was to improve audibility (similar to visibility contrast improvements) without having hearing loss from the piercing noise levels. It was a big success on that front.

@@v7xgaming it happened but 9/10 times we would just scream at eachother and insult the enemy team or make fun of them. It was toxic as fck but it gave your enemies more of a personality and you got even more motivation to win just so you can shittalk in voice! I miss it so bad :,)

Didn’t mention the dust 2 mid peak redesign that JUST happened. Biggest change to the map since it’s inception….
It's actually not... Original dust II had this wall blocking mid. It wasn't first version maybe but this wall has already been there in a counter strike.

I remember Bison being super good with no recoil while running and better dmg (I think). Flashbacks from having multiple aces on Dust 2 lower tunnels as CT coming right up in my brain atm
I mean, the bison is still a pretty solid gun for round 2, but that's the issue, after round 2 the gun makes you essentially useless with it's armor penetration stat and damage fall off.
Hardly. Bison has been practically useless against non-ecos for most of the games' lifespan

The catwalk on Nuke going around the outside of the building was hilarious. "Rush heaven." THAT'S A STRAT?!
They didn't just make Cobblestone Halloween themed, they never rolled it back, the big changes came to stay and it completely fucking ruined the map, and instead of admitting it they fucked it up, they pulled the greatest map ever (which was ruined by now) out of the comp-pool... Valve man...

@@XX-pq6cu Yes, those changes that are seen as "normal" now came along with the Halloween event. They removed the theme but kept the major changes that came with the Halloween event. Which absolutely suck, and ruined the map. It used to be a great map.
They fucked A site to death they fucked toilets they added a pretty bullshit connection to A via those stairs
The things i miss are: Ability to talk to your enemies at half time and scaleform ui.
As much as we miss the old Inferno, I'm actually glad we got the new one. Old Inferno were way to CT-sided on both the A and B site. T's had to check alot of spots and narrow to B passages to get mowed down with mollys and spraying CT's. CT's who could stay under a roof on A site and in cover from balcony attacks. A very much needed update map-wise. The state of current Nuke too, it's very good.
I think it would be less CT-sided if it was still in use. Executes have gotten so much better at the pro level compared to back in the day.
do u remember "Ninja" on a site? Where u got up on the box in the corner and jumped over to the pillar under the roof. U was so well hidden from balcony, pit, outside the site etc. Was missed many times, with a ninja def as a result.

The reason for the sounds being changed is obvious, the old sounds were sharp, tinny but also muddy at the same time. The current sounds, whilst still not the greatest (the AK can actually contribute to hearing damage), are at least less hearing-damage inducing than the old ones.
The perfect opportunity for the update its to add a possibility for CT to drop off the Defuse kit. That will be massive

Scout is still accurate while jumping, but it is only the peak of the jump now instead of the big, lenient range it used to have that everyone was able to do.

the scout is still 100% accurate at the top of your jump for a split second, it's a small time frame but it's there
It took me a few years after CS:GO came out to switch from CS:S, but eventually, it finally grew on me with enough quality updates - and now is a very polished game. Although I don't game much anymore, the CS series will always be a big part of my life growing up.

there was this update where you can double jump mirage mid window xD and i think my most fave part of the quick updates is the one where you can see your enemy's rank? I think it was a quick weeks before they removed it since people are complaining that they get their confidence weak seeing the ranks of the enemies.
they changed the gun sounds for lan. they announced that during the change, to make the game easier to spectate, and for the audio to be able to played at louder volumes without washing out everything

I remember when they added the revolver, it was broken as crap, and you could kill your own teammates with it before the round started without getting kicked.

The R8 Revolver is an 8 shot revolver introduced as part of the 2015 Winter Update to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. This was the funniest update ever, hoooly shit. Until it was nerfed a week later or something like that, every single DM and every single MM match was filled with those. It used to oneshot like an awp, it was so good.
I'm surprised the video forgot to mention 2 things 1 you used to be able to buy the mac 10 on pistol round if you got a kill fast enough 2 you used to be able to fire the R8 Revolver before a round started

The SSG still has 100% accuracy while scoped at the apex of your jump, it used to be easier back then to hit jumping scout shots, but it's easy doable still if u got the timing down
