The Mirage window smoke has been crucial since the launch of CS:GO, with players constantly seeking to improve it.
I go through the Evolution of the Mirage Window Smoke, an 8 year process that pushed the limits of what the scene knew about creating nade lineups.

This is my first long-form video that digs into more of the history of how CS tactics evolve over time. What did you think of this video and would you like to see more? Let me know what you’d be interested in! Edit: There is a bot going around in the comments pretending to be me. I will only ever communicate using this account, so please do not message or interact with them!
Im interested in ancient individual and anubis :D Love your content bro
This kind of content is great. I’d love to see the change in utility and play styles on different maps over the years.
This could be extrapolated to ideas how has mid control on mirage evolved over the years, or how have rotations changed on nuke over the years.
cs esports history/stories, anything you can find
This is amazing and I want other videos like this! What about the evolution of A site dust2 tactics, showing things like the avangar smokes.
this man really watched every mirage demo in history. most sane faceit user
oh wow you're here! Hi lau!! : )
Hi lau. Ofc. you watched this masterpiece of a Video.
valorant players in shambles
12:20 wasn't that flap that did that video? lmao, i fucking remember that post.
@@generodidtheedit yeaa lmao i was waiting for the glue straw
I'd like to give this guy props, I have never played cs go, never watched a tournament, and yet I watched an entire video on it because of how it was presented, made it genuinely interesting
This.
same this video rocks
same.
You might also enjoy Wirtual's documentaries on Trackmania. They too are well made. I'd recommend to check out "Impossible Trackmania Shortcut Finally Done After 13 Years"
Same here
I really can't I watched a 20 minute video on throwing mirage window smoke. The History of this game is so rich and you are such a good story writer to explain it so nicely. thank you so much for this video
i watched this and i dont even play cs.

@@haxeplays9962 same lmao
this is kind of like wirtual but csgo
you really can't you can't really can't you really can't I really can't I really
You know this game has such an abundance of history when someone can make a 20 minute video on 1 utility being used in 1 area of this 1 map
I never thought something like this could be made. It just enhances my appreciation for the game and the community around it. The amount of effort you put into this is almost unimaginable. Thank you for doing what you're doing Mahone.
19:26 "So who knows what's in store for the future" Volumetric smokes bruh
Snax must have thrown it by pressing W+A while crouched to make use of wallstrafing, as well as standing up just before (or by simultaniously) jump-throwing for extra speed. He always had super innovative line-ups like the one for heaven on Nuke where he lined himself up while running out of T spawn. Awesome compilation and great research as usual. Thanks!
nice
Maybe youre right, but you dont wall strafe when pressing w so he would have to press W let go and then press A
@@Stoffercss Since he's angled to the left you'd be able to use w+a to press against the left side wall and get the proper forward movement I think. Coming from a surfing perspective, you'd be able to wall-strafe against the surf block by pressing w+a or w+d, the thing that changes with that is just where you are looking towards.
@@Stoffercss potentially the wall strafe and then presses w after jumping like fl0m’s smoke
After some testing, I found a standing W+A works, no need for crouch. It's kinda inconsistent but cool nonetheless.
Blast should show this during their breaks instead of dead air. THIS is good content.
Then they would have to pay whoever was the owner of the video. If not that would be content theft.
@mr.someone5679 Originally I said ESL, but I meant Blast. The guy who made this video works for blast, which is why I thought they should show this instead of dead air.
@@Lekeing They would still have to pay him, no? I don't imagine Blast owns contents made by Mahone for his own channel.

Mahone was so dedicated he built a time machine just for this one video. I appreciate all the effort you put in and hope to see more
Gonna have to remake this video soon
never was a video outdated so fast. welcome cs2!
This must have been a tonne of work to research and record. Awesome job dude - this will go down as one of the most important historical CS videos ever! Now go take a day off :)
I find it amazing that you managed to pick such a small thing about CS and managed to make it into such an interesting video
this has to be my favourite piece you've done, fantastic work!
This is the best CS:GO video ever
Its great to see mahone getting the love and respect he's much deserved for his work explaining and demonstrating use of tactics and utility in such a majestic game
I love how much work was needed to do this. Absolute quality and originality and I learnt so much.
funny how this video was made instantly outdated. rip old smokes
It's History
This was absolutely fascinating to watch the evolution of strat optimization and the fact that objectively more efficient plays still took time to be adopted in the highest level of play Fantastic work, I'm subscribing and would love more stuff like this
I never thought I’d be so invested in learning about grenade smoke optimizations in a game I don’t ever play or know much about. This is a a testament to your great video quality, storytelling, and engaging writing which made this a pleasure to watch. Cool video, keep up the good work.
This is amazing. CS needs more of these types of retrospectives.
Mr Danny, what an insane video to put out. The editing on this is wild, we need more videos like this :)
Never thought I would ever watch a video this long about a specific smoke grenade spot in a game I don't play. Truly fascinating, the attention to detail and the great editing definitely promote thw idea of me watching this again, great video.
i was wonderin what u were cookin up and i was not expecting it but man it did not disappoint, i love how you can see the logic behind each evolution and its really cool to see which players and teams lead innovation and which teams were quickest at stealing new discoveries, i still remember when the instant window smokes came out and how excited you were about the timing windows that opened up so it makes perfect sense for u to make this video there are so many possibilities for a series like this, i think an obvious follow up could be nuke outside smokes because of how much variation there has been there and theres been so much evolution in how teams lurk around the smokes or play thru them
The work put into this video is INSANE. Hats off sir
I never played CS:GO but this documentary was on point, watched it all! Amazing to see the evolution of the technique and props to you for all the research you did on this topic!!

Amazing work dude! Was absolute pleasure to watch all details on Smoke history. Lets get Ready for CS2 smoke action!
Very good video. I have never played CS:GO nor do I watch esports, but this video was so well made that it kept me engaged all throughout. Well done.
I love watching the evolution of some strategy on placing blindness in a specific area of a source map in a game I don't play.
More these kind of evolution series please, its fascinating to watch specific smoke lineups, maps, tactics, exploits, etc.
Based Perfect Dark OST user. Amazing video.
Linking ancient spawn throws to mirage window honestly blew my mind man. Truly a work of art crammed into a 20 min video. Unbelievably well done. Sharing this where I can
Man what a detailed and good video, you actually put in the videos of each team first throwing it dude, props for the effort, amazing video
Tha ls for uploading again mahone! Really loved your pro demos and hope to see more in the future.
now it has evolved yet again
It's amazing how such a seemingly very small detail as one smoke can have such a huge history behind it.
This is really amazing content, I would love to see more meta evolution analysis videos like this!
this was a fantastic video, I'm impressed by the huge amount of work you put into this! I'd love to see more videos like these
Valve saw you doing this video and decided to make it feel old in just a few hours :)
I know there have been many iterations of the windows smokes but I wasn't expecting a near 20mins, detailed, well-planned video!! great work!
The technique's evolution - and this very video - are so beautifully nerdy! Thanks for making this!
I watched your channel since 200 followers. Im so proud of you how you envolved and still keep to your core content🎉
never touched cs:go in my life, but this video had me hooked from beginning to end! you did a fantastic job with this, i'd love to see more!
As someone who likes to spend hours upon hours finding new smokes alone on an offline server, this video made me very happy :)
I love this type of videos that analyze upgrades among the time and quite so precise! Love it and keep it doing
Incredibly deep, intricate and fascinating history of some CS Meta, great content!
I knew I was a Counter Strike nerd for awhile. I have been playing for years and watching the pros for just as long. But man I just spent 19 minutes watching a video about ONE smoke for ONE map for csgo and was intrigued the entire time and loved every minute. Keep making this great content!
Well its going to be very differentiere now
This was really cool to see actually. There's a lot involved in this history that I was surprised I didn't know. The fact that it got so extreme that CTs had to throw a molly through the vent early to stop the smoke is so awesome!
Insane video. U must have watched so many demos, i cant believe it. Well done, enjoyed every second of it.
Damn and just now you need to remake the video cuz of Source 2 😂😂
i always felt like lining smokes up with the geometry was such a weird (unintended?) mechanic, but its depth knows no bounds and this video shows off how valve letting players creativity run wild has resulted in an incredibly high skill ceiling.
Waiting on a full smoke video for each map and for each side that has use for them. Sweet video man.
Great to see you at the major, probably the best man in the world for the job. Happy to see you come so far. Good luck in the future,
can you go over the history of the A ramp meta in vertigo? i think the evolution was pretty interesting

This is beautiful man, very well done!
Sometimes I'm asking myself whether or not the Game Devs implement this on purpose and are well aware of these possibilities way before teams find this out and use it (like the exact textures etc. required for the perfect throws) or if this is just something that is randomly there.
they could simply keep in mind the possibilities and make sure the buildings or whatever they can use are detailed enough so they can be used for lineups by the community
Old video, cs2 smoke when?
Dude this was such a great video! I'm not even a huge player of CS:GO, plenty of hours, plenty of time trying some smokes, but that's across a decade on and off. I found it fascinating and really enjoyed the style and effort you clearly put in. Cheers.
This video is a documentary. Insanely good and very nostalgic.. Congrats.
Its 2023.. cs2 is out...i still miss my window smoke
