Los Angeles FC, Inter Miami Top $1 Billion, MLS's Most Valuable Clubs 2024
In January, as Inter Miami arrived in El Salvador for its first preseason match of 2024, hundreds of cheering fans greeted the team’s convoy of pink buses, jostling past one another just to catch a glimpse of, arguably, the most famous athlete on the planet, Lionel Messi. Such an impassioned welcome in a foreign country would have been unimaginable eight months ago when Inter Miami, one of the more recent additions to Major League Soccer, was a last-place club with little global recognition beyond its minority co-owner, David Beckham. But that all changed in June when Messi announced that South Florida would become his next soccer home, forever altering the franchise’s trajectory.
His impact was immediate. A month after his arrival, Messi led Inter Miami to its first-ever trophy, at the inaugural Leagues Cup, with a dramatic penalty shootout victory. Off the field, the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner supercharged the team’s business operations, with revenue more than doubling to $118 million in 2023, from $56 million in 2022. The rapid change in fortune has fueled the club’s appreciation. Forbes estimates Inter Miami is now the second-most-valuable MLS team, worth $1.03 billion after a 72% bump from a year ago. The franchise is the second in league history to achieve a billion-dollar valuation, following in the cleated footsteps of LAFC, which did so in 2023 and remains MLS’s most valuable team, at $1.2 billion.

Messi the goat. His arrival to Inter Miami truly made the club a global phenomenon 👏👏👏👏
Messi THE GOAT... Miami & America is so blessed to have Messi.. Enjoy
Football (aka soccer) is very likely going to see a massive bump in popularity in the USA, thanks to superstars like Messi in the MLS and to FIFA World Cup 2026 being hosted by USA, Canada, and Mexico. Personally I’m super excited to see this, it’s one of my favorite sports and it’s cool seeing appreciated by new fans!
Thats due to influx of foreigners into usa.
😡Saudi regime will do great for America soccer if it launches a Premier-League-like project in the US & ends the atrocities that MLS has brought to soccer here😡
Thanks to Adidas actually.
You forgot the Copa America
@@duran9664Pissed like ur poor pendu who can't stop getting annoyed 😂
Messi is an emotion for more than a billion people..❤❤🎉 The most loved footballer ever to walk the planet..🎉 And certainly the GREATEST OF ALL TIMES. #LM10
the GOAT effect.. king MESSI
Messi ❤
But they need to do something about their defense. Their defense is like they don’t even try.
Ive seen new defenders now' and it's gettin better
Atlanta United supporter checking in. I remember when Atlanta was in the 1 spot and then LAFC came in and their fans showed a lot of love. I dont know much about Messi outside of him winning the World Cup but glad he is in the league.
I have no problem with mls being the senior series. Getting a chance to watch these players here is amazing. Even if they’re old.
People around the world subscribing anything that mentions Messi’s name 😂😂

GOAT effect. He is going to positively affect everybody around him.
The world love superstars and few countries know how to capitalize on that.
Messi effect🐐🔥
GOAT effect
Yup 😂
Man that LAFC rose bowl game was thanks to galaxy fans. It was about 60% galaxy fans.
Even if that was true, LAFC fans drew in galaxy fans to attend that game. The Rosebowl would have never filled up with a Galaxy vs Quakes game. 😂
There was more LAFC fans.
Messi Joining Made Me A Supporter/Follower of Inter Miami (Still Progress Becoming a Fan of Inter Miami)
MLS has already surpassed NHL in popularity and is coming after MLB.
Really ??
Who even watches NHL?
NHL is far bigger than the MLS. The NHL takes in far more revenue than MLS, and furthermore 18 teams in NHL valued at over a billion USD, only 2 teams in MLS value at over a billion USD, just LAFC and Miami. Also, any city in North America would take winning The Stanley Cup over the MLS title, because The Stanley Cup would have a far bigger parade, and local TV rating. The Stanley Cup is a far more prestigious championship to win, than MLS.
@@gracedagostino5231 MLS is way bigger than NHL now . MLS gets way more viewership than NHL
@@gracedagostino5231 There’s no denying the sum valuations of the NHL exceed the MLS, but saying that “NHL is far bigger than the MLS” is hyperbole. The MLS 2022 final had more viewers than the 2020 Stanley Cup final. MLS regular season matches averaged 343,000 TV viewers last season, nearly the same as an NHL game. With the Apple TV deal, MLS will exceed NHL in viewership this season. Btw, the NHL is going into its 107th season…MLS, only its 29th. Oh, and here’s the kicker (no pun intended), the NHL is the top hockey league in the world. MLS is probably the 6th most popular soccer in league in the world. Parade? How in the heck is a parade a measure of how popular a sport is? After the men’s and women’s WC in 2026 and 2027, the debate will be long over.
Cheers from Kathmandu
3:40 "Messis presence isn't solely responsible for the value increase" - List things that happened because Messi. "capitalized his commercial potential, increased attendance, and ticket price"
Guess Forbes doesn’t do it’s research 😂 the 82,000 rosebowl game was the galaxy’s home game
messi goat
Inter Miami is a freakin' mess right now, the pre season tour was a disaster. They better start investing in a real defense and midfield to go along with the genius of Messi,
Inter Miami wins Orlando 5 to 0. Is that ' freaking mess '???
Orlando’s defense had more holes than a Roquefort cheese. Yeah, Inter Miami’s defense is still pretty bad.
Messi goat 🐐
They better make some changes because once Messi retires the others players are not doing a good job at the moment.
San Diego FC has to be up there considering the expansion fee was 500 million alone and they haven't even hit the pitch yet.
that's crazy
nice
Lafc bby!!!
LAFC #1 ⚫️🟡
Thank you for not mentioning chicharito as an important player to Galaxy . He was an opportunist scorer not a difference maker 👏💯⚽️
Goat 🐐
GOAT
GOAT exactly raises mls in particular and American sports in general to a new level. But cr7 aka fake goat to Arah, the majority of spectators coming to the stadium are no more than 1000 people per match, not equal to an M10 training session.
Adidas is one of the biggest beneficiary here...
Miami, once again being #1 city in the world
Los Angeles is #1 Miami is #2
Not better than Amsterdam, lol
Messi is the most popular football player in the world
messi >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> any American icon
🎉❤❤❤
The business model of MLS and US sports is interesting. US sports industry is a closed system (socialism), so it will be curious to see how MLS will compete against other of world leagues.
Take away Messi and Inter Miami’s value drops by half or more
W messi
CR7 made a mistake when he went to Saudi Arabia !
Messi League Soccer
Hahaha that's a good one 😂
without messi no for miami
How do valuations even work when its based on Messi. He will retire and the club value will drop
He is the owner too not just player
of course it will drop. they hope to make enough money until then, so that signing him will become profitable (thats why they play so many international friendlies now). other than that they hope that he will raise the profile of the club and the league, so that they can sustain some of the value increase. but MLS valuations are very optimistic anyways. if you compare the relation of value and revenue, you will see that they are very different from those in europe. a european club with the same value as an MLS club often has 3 times the revenue. it's because investors see more potential for future growth. but in the end these valuations don't matter that much, a club is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it. that can be much higher or much lower than the valuation
It happened to us Atlanta United. We were once ranked 1 in the league and now we are ranked 4th. Players come and go, fans come and go. Its the consistency that is important for all clubs. When Atlanta was first the two LA clubs were ranked 2 and 3. When Messi leaves Miami will be in the top 10 for a while until they have a long streak of losing.
LAFC
Meanwhile Columbus Crew are still the cup Champions
There is a big issue that value is base on Messi been in the team what happens when he is gone the value will drop drastically that can damage Inter for a long time
Value is based on assets. The players are considered assets so yes, you are right. His player value is still high but slowly decreasing. It’s a gamble of an investment and if it does not workout MLS has a history of inflating their clubs values, opening another round of franchises.
Picture at 4:22 is from BMO Field in Canada, not LAFC's BMO Stadium... 🫢
Just stating BMO naming rights of stadiums
L.A Galaxy :)
Old news 🤣
The City of Angels is Black & Gold
@@latinoheateddieguerrero7644 facts!! We never abandon our club (like Carson) we are Faithful and Loyal through thick and thin to the end!
World Cups are crazy events. I knew guys that hated Football but became bigger fans than I am after it. That's how crazy the event it and shameless bratty Penaldo fans downplaying it's significance boggles the mind.
So they basically became Football teams. Well done to them
It saddens me to see messi play now! If you knew him at his prime, its heartbreaking to see him today
😮
Franchises*
Famous athletes is Ronaldo
I'll never understand American Asset Valuation, when you look at revenue and costs these valuations don't make sense
You have to take into account what the team would be worth if they sold, which would include the stadium, training facilities, branding, etc..
So sad that the success is all about messi.. I wonder when he is gone what will happen.
Now do the five least valuable clubs
Not to offend, but sports presenters should be more lively! Dude almost asleep!!
They advertise that Messi is going to be there. And on the day, Messi never turn up. What a scam!
And you fell for it! Get over it lol
a revolutionary new scheme known as players being injured sometimes
The City of Angels is Black & Gold. Los Angeles Football Club is more valuable than Inter Milan and all except 15 of Europes 100 year old Football Clubs.
Because its in united states. Mls is a joke. Once u realize mls is nfl knock off. Those teams are fake
Cap
Why is Messi the most famous athlete???? I believe the most famous athlete in the world is Cristiano Ronaldo, who keeps being a top scorer and is and has been the most followed person on Instagram for many years.
I love how these American celebs and athletes are having trouble with a "soccer" player being bigger than them. It's hilarious.
🤢🤢🤮DOWN TO MLS🤢🤢🤮 😡Saudi regime will do great for America soccer if it launches a Premier-League-like project in the US & ends the atrocities that MLS has brought to soccer here😡
Inter Miami are now like the Cowboys. Worth alot of money but won't win anything
If u think some soccer club in USA is worth a $1b in just a yr simply because Messi plays for them u're a victim of propaganda! This is asset speculation at its finest. On what basis did they arrive at this valuation? Just a few clubs in football can boast of $1b+ valuation and it includes the obvious names. Inter Miami is most definitely not close to them. That's like saying Al Nassr in Saudi is worth a $1b because CR7 plays for them. This is pure financialization of assets.
Messi doesn't play for LAFC and they broke 1b.. The valuation of the clubs has been on the rise for years. Messi just brings more eyes and revenue. Al Nassir isn't worth what they are worth just because of one player but he brings in all kinds of investors into the league and club..
But yall still can't play.
Unfortunately Messi is only good for marketing.
.. 😂😂 who takes these people serious
Bullshit.
Big time bullshit
