Marvel’s Black Widow had the best of the best - an incredible cast, strong writing, a director with a vision and perhaps surprisingly, some of the best improv around! The lead actors, Scarlet Johansson, Florence Pugh and David Harbour worked together to bring an incredible dynamic on screen. According to Johansson, Florence Pugh crushed the ego of herself and other Marvel actors with one improvised line that made fun of pretty well every unrealistic superhero landing pose that had gone before - and there are a LOT. Thanks to a very informative and somewhat surprising conversation with the stunt team, Pugh found herself joking around and when writer Eric Pearson caught wind of the idea, he knew it was worth including in the film! There was no shortage of female empowerment in this MCU movie - one misogynistic line noted by Johansson, Pugh and director Cate Shortland wound up getting an improvised comeback. Yelena and Natasha wind up addressing the dark fact that they, along with all the other Widow’s are sterilized and don’t steer away from giving Red Guardian ALL the details. Santa Claus coming up during the dinner scene is a bit surprising - which makes sense considering it was never in the script! David Harbour whipped out improvisations throughout filming. In fact, the majority of the helicopter scene banter between himself, Pugh and Johansson was just the actors playing off of each other. Harbour wound up being responsible for one of the most profound moments we see with the Red Guardian - one that involves a classic song. We’re diving into all these great improvised moments - let us know which one is your favorite!

Some great moments are totally unplanned 😍
Yep
This video was awesome 🤩 Thanks 😎
Improvised Scenes are the Best parts in every movies
that "poser" part was literally my fave part of the movie 😂
Yeah, totally unplanned except for the conversation with the stunt people, conference with ScarJo, getting overheard by the LITERAL WRITER, and subsequently being added, completely planned, into the ACTUAL SCRIPT
that "poser" part was literally my fave part of the movie 😂
What about the Period ??😆😆
It was best when she then did the movie and shook it off and said yuk
@@justacrochetmum7536 100% agree with you on that. Her grossed out reaction was perfect.
Yelena is a whole mood!!!!
Ya
Improvised Scenes are the Best parts in every movies
910th like! :3
@@jacktellner646 why would anyone care jack
@@jacktellner646 I care, Jack! Don't listen to that goober-head.
I really miss the out takes closing credits.... Remember Smokey and the Bandit, Blues Brothers, Convoy etc? They'd give us a laugh on the way out of the room. Out-takes, cock-ups, bloopers etc... they should be threaded into the credits... at least then people would look at the credits.
I loved when Florence kept making fun of Scarlett with the posing stuff! it made me laugh all the time
😂
I laughed hard
I like to laugh all the time
They should've included the scene where Yelena actually _does_ the fighting pose, then acts disgusted with herself. That was basically the payoff of the whole joke.
lkdjfshj i thought you meant add the scene to the movie at first lmaooo
Logic in a YT video? You must be new, here. lol.
My favourite scene! I was like AHA! 😂
holy cow i think about yelena's graphic sass to stand up to that time-of-the-month joke all the time ; so amazed to find out it was improvised ; love florence pugh even more now!!!
You really believe that woke script was "improvised"? lol
@@pcuimac Yeah, turns out Florence Pugh is smarter than you.
@@pcuimac well...its just Pugh you know.
@@pcuimac Can we make better criticisms of media than just calling it “woke”? I personally think the helicopter scene totally fit the characters, especially Yelena.
The bit where Alexei sings American Pie for Yelena after their botched conversation. It shows more than anything that he really did love them like his own. You don't remember every single word of your daughter's favorite song after 21 years apart, if you don't really love her. That kind of thing means he thought about them every single day since they were taken, and he regretted letting them go.
Impressive considering I literally saw my dad two weeks ago, and he doesn’t even know what my favorite song is 😂
@@emilyk8719 Yeah...I know how that goes. But I feel that just makes my point even more. Those girls really did mean the world to him.
And he has both their names tatooed (in Russian) on his right shoulder. He also tries to say sorry to Nat... The problem with him is that he genuinely believes that they should become what they've become. He loves them in his messed up way.
180th like! :3 I started laughing to myself both times, since the only reason I know of that song is by it being a favorite of a Twitch streamer playing Rockband. (Was never a fan of Country unlike my mom and older sister.)
@@jacktellner646 It's less "Country" and more "Folk Rock" But since country was where it originated, it does often sound similar.
As a man, I found the entire going into the rant after the "time of the month" jab absolutely hilarious. It's always those dudes who use it as a dismissive argument that get uncomfortable and react the same way he did when Yelena started going into detail on the sterilization. I also loved the entire poser thing, because it added a sense of realism to the fantasy that we could all enjoy the absurdity of, and the way Scarlet tried to defend it was great. The movie was great overall, but Florence's portrayal of the bratty sass machine little sister was probably the best portrayal of that kind of trope I have ever seen.
I think married men would be in a better position to tell whether their wife's moods change or not when they're having their period. And also, some women actually use that as an excuse to be rude. I mean, can you blame her for being rude when it's all natural?
My favorite thing when coming across men like that is that they don’t know one of the hormones that make women act rude or bitchy on their period is testosterone
True. Men also don't realize that women are always on their period. 25% of the time. man act like its just for a day.... And if it's true when they suggest it, women feel terrible.
@@cinemaatrium3863 let's not say "women feel terrible". some use it as a get-out-of-jail-free card to be a bitch for the entire week.
As a guy, I never understood why guys mention that shit. It's a bad unfunny joke and I'd rather not think about that shit. Women can keep some of their mysteries, I don't need to know everything.
Yelena and Alexie was the heart and soul of Black Widow Movie.
Except for Alexie, the dad who was more like an uncle, the dad who regretted being an awful farther yet didn’t say goodbye to Natasha
nah it was nat and yelena
The heart and soul of this cut and paste commercial blockbuster churned out by the Marvel/Disney assembly line?? Totally! You should try Keeping up with the Kardashians. It's a wholesome exploration of family values. You'll love it!
@@huntsman145 Your logic with that comparison astounds me. Because it doesnt follow lol. Any movie has a heart and soul. No one talked about values lol.
Oh really??? It was Natasha, it's her film
Credit to Scarlet for not going "all Hollywood" and allowing the other characters to shine even to the extent of them having many of the best lines
Yes!!! I love Scarlet with my whole heart and I love Nat but she wasn’t my favorite part of the movie. Yelena (Florence) had me dying of laughter the majority of the time! I’m writing this while realizing today is when it comes out on Disney plus and I can’t wait to watch it again for all of the Yelena and Alexi content!!
Given that Natasha is dead in the present, I'd say establishing those characters was the very reason for the movie. Sure, it's called "Black Widow", but which Black Widow does that refer to?
Totally
I really liked what Florence did with her character, I think she was fitting and adding while taking away nothing at all in any scenes, for the 'super hero' genre, which I'm getting quite fed of and getting more and more critical about, I'm happy about it :)
The great ones don't hate. They elevate.
I just love Florence and scarlets husky voices
SAME. While we were watching it, I was like "I don't know if I buy them as sisters...except for the voices." (Yeah I know, technically they're not, but hey)
I love the superhero poses and the period improvised scene but my favourite has to be when alexei sang american pie song with yelena. Like seriously, those are the typical father’s move when they tried to make their baby girl feel better. Kinda emotional as well because it feels like yelena is finally opening her heart for her father.
My favorite scene was the posing scene and the "I don't have a Uterus dipsh*t" scene hahahah
Correction: dipshit
@@ollievonb Thanks
Florence Pugh’s “poser” moment was my favorite improvised line
Florence MADE this movie! Her character was hysterical
Florence stole every scene she was in! She gave an outstanding performance! Her comedic timing and delivery was brilliant.
Proof that Florence is really intelligent and funny. Love this girl.
“With the arm and the hair” is now my favorite line of the MCU 😂😂😂
I thought she said “with the arm in the air” 😂 whoops
0:10 / 0:11 haha, I never noticed Yelena looking at Alexei flopping her wrist around. Love it!
omg that was hilarious
@@yanhoipig she's looking at him like "David, wtf are you doing. I'm not a ragdoll." and he's all "Alexei would do this... *stays in character*" 🤣
This made me laugh.. such a little thing the difference in the tension of both wrists but hilarious
Anything with Florence Pugh...just take my money!
I still love the Budapest scene where Yelena knocks into the table while backing up and Nat replies with "watch your step" (or something along those lines), I'm glad they kept that version of the scene 🖤
My favorite scene on the movie is definitely the time-of-the-month one, and everything that follows. I can practically quote it at this point😂 (is that bad?)
I can too, it pops up in my head sometimes and now when I get my period I go “I don’t get my period dipshit”
One of the worst scenes in any Marvel movie, ever. Even the made for television Captain America. Absolutely ridiculous dialogue.
@@chethammer umad?
@@NickHunter Sure, because I wanted that movie to be good and it was the worst Marvel has put out.
@@chethammer The consensus I've seen doesn't seem to agree. And even if it's a bad movie, your claim that it's "ridiculous dialogue" despite kinda being in line with the tone of plenty of other entries in the Marvel franchise I'm not sure what your issue is here
So, basically, the ad-lib scenes were the best parts of the entire film.
Makes you wonder about all the comments saying the script was so great...
The propensity of the Marvel Universe to encourage their actors to improvise is precisely one of the main reasons I have lost interest in the franchise. It’s not done properly and is painfully clear every time there is an improvise because they are seemingly always completely out of character and jarring. Completely destroys the forth wall for me. The opening scene in Thor Ragnorrok was extremely cringe worthy because it was like trying to watch Helmsworth being funny on SNL, not like Thor trying to taunt an adversary. I do realize this particular scene was loved by many fans, which tells me that the films aren’t for me. But, in my opinion our standards seem to be dropping and we should expect more from film or it will all be trash very soon.
I feel florence pugh was the best actress in black widow
She was. And in Little Women too.
@@xxcris20xx i felt Emma Watson was better
Wow, it's scarlett's movie and haven't heard her name anywhere no wonder she's suing. Mad respect to Scarlett!
@@saanvikhare i agree
Nah, emma was ok. But next to Saoirse and Florence she was washed out.
3:16 That's us when we successfully survive the last two years. Florence's expressions are amazing. XD
The song singing was the best part of the whole movie for me, by far.
I really love florence in the new bit she did. Keeping vague because spoilers. But she was wven better then in this i found. I loved it and i cant wait for more of her
I 💜 The Poser Line & The Dinner Scene!
There were a ton of videos crapping on this movie in the week after it was released. I loved every minute of it. I also held no expectations about it.
I love it but it could have and should have happened ten years earlier, and they tried to make a half-spy-thriller, half whatever massive cgi marvel mess, but black widow is the most human of all the avengers and I feel like she deserved a more grounded send off but that’s about it🤷🏻♀️
Seriously they deserve a nomination for best ensemble performance for that movie it was just incredible.
This was definitely something that was overdue for Scarlett Johansson and it was a hell of a good movie the cast was perfect and I’m heartbroken that I will never see black widow in this film industry ever again as Scarlet Johansson But Florence Pugh is gonna be awesome within the MCU
When the actors are allowed to channel the characters and change the moments accordingly, your always going get better results.
Zach Braff is winning in life!! Wowzzaa!
All of them. I thought most of it was very improv and right into character so easily. Love it.
Oh my gosh the poser was improvised? That was my favorite part! 🤣
A lot of people hating on this movie, I loved it. 🤷♂️
This movie is so amazing
You can tell they had a lot of fun with each other and as a result, it felt real when those scenes played out. They felt like a family...
And Florance going off scrip in the chopper was one of the best parts of the movie
The chemistry between all the main actors in this film was great. They gelled together very well indeed. Moreover each actor made other actors around the actor better than good, making this film good n awesomely fun to watch. For me, a good & succesful movie is when one could remember at least 5 scenes of it. And i remembered more than 10 scenes! I would want to watch this movie again n again as years go by.
as much as i think ALL actors are " POSERS" I do like the fact that this group owns it ....
I truly loved this movie. The Father's relationship with his girls is relatable and emotional for sure. The movie had it all imo. Drama, comedy, action packed. Good stuff.
Definitely the poser scene - it’s relatable 😂
Uhm. "Actors proposition". "Together with the writing team." That's not improvising. That's writing.
I love Scarlett Johansson's Natasha sitting in a trailer watching Sean Connery's Bond on a laptop. It's such a dress down 'shawarma' moment of off duty heroes in hotel rooms.
I need to watch this again, I loved black widow!
I haven't watched Black Widow yet. I heard it was a great movie though.

Black Widow: a beautiful dysfunctional family movie
no wonder i saw this film was 3x. i enjoy all of it. absolute fun. i love the 'you're such a poser' scene as Yelena mocks Natasha.
The hug scene with Red Guardian, Natasha, and yelena was probably my favorite. The oldest daughter is sick of his shit and the baby girl the daddy’s girl hung in there a big longer before pushing him off. Felt organic af
Florence has a talent for comedy.
I couldn’t breath thru parts of this movie because of laughing so hard! Florence was hilarious!
when they came back with the "time of the month" response, it seemed more natural, like a real discussion, not a movie. possibly some of the best acting scenes ever to grace the screen!
The best improvised line was when Disney told Johansson they were gonna give her her money. Award winning
All yelena's moments are savage 🤣
"you like my jacket? it has lots of pockets" had to be improved
Yes! But since that conversation wasn't here, I have to conclude that it was orignally scripted and that is also awesome!
poser, pockets, and helicopter fuel scene. My Favs :)
now that shit has hit the fan at disney enjoy scarlo"s last time playing black widow
Explain plz.?
@@hayleydollx disney and scarlet had a contract that the black widow would be a movie theater exclusive when released (other movies, like Raya and the Lost Dragon were available for purchase on Disney+). the reason she wanted the exclusivity was because her salary was based off of how well the box office did (a percentage of the money made, I believe). So disney releasing it onto disney+ severely affected her salary and was a direct violation of their initially agreed contract. So she’s suing them (rightfully so, don’t go back on your word). She probably won’t return to the role again (not like she really would need to lol) due to just awkwardness and distrust formed between her and the company. We just might be missing out on some past scenes featuring black widow in the up and coming hawkeye thing.
I love the poser part too. And the bickering between them. So amazing
I love Scarlett so much she really played the hell outta Natasha for that sweet decade
U telling me pokets wasn't improvised 😭😭😭 it's still good tho
Saw the movie last week. Was great, man, the landing jokes, the time of the month jokes were hilarious, appreciate when writers, directors and actors are open to improvisation
these are so funny! thank you.
I love Florence so much!
Florence Pugh's scene where she does the "pose" and then calls her a "poser" is my favorite scene and the way Florence delivers it is priceless!! It gave the movie that extra umph it needed.
Yelena Needs to take over the black widow roll!
The helicopter crash is hilarious!
I laughed entirely too much at that hysterectomy bit lol! That sounded like something I would say! I have no problem getting very graphic about that stuff lol!
Florence Pugh carried this movie. Which is saying something, because everybody put in serious work.
Love this film 😂❤️
“Improvising like a demon” is such an odd thing line
Tbh, I'm just glad that marvel didn't kill Yelena off and have it as a Pietro moment.
Especially the hair flips in the superhero pose. That was hilarious.
The poser scene for sure, coupled with Yelena trying to do the Black Widow pose... unsuccessfully. Comedy gold!!!
Yelana/Florence was probably the best part of the movie.
Amazing video 👍
all the helicopter scene, how Elena can not have a babies, and mocking of Natasha how she land on her feet posing!!,..too funny
The Dinner Scene and American Pie is the best and most emotional of this movie
Black widow is definitely the best family movie in the MCU.
"Your Leger's must be ripping gushing red, I'm so proud of you girls" ...had me rolling 😂😂😂
great improvised scenes - in black widow [2021 ] film !!!!
Her explanation of being sterilized KILLED ME. 🤣
I actually thought Scarlett Jo was the weakest link in the movie and she's the main character. Everyone else had such strong Charas and she was just, kinda there for me...
This is probably exactly what studio and director want.
@@Bycekko coz she be gone 😭😭😭😭😭
Yelena’s literally one of the all time greatest Marvel characters lol
That was the best running joke of the movie it was awesome.
I just saw this movie. I really liked it. It's first rate entertainment. I don't think it deserves all the bad press it's gotten.
I didn't even want to watch it and it became one of my fav Marvel movies
Not bad to completly shatter the egos of the Avengers in just 15min. Good job.
Honestly I loved a lot of her lines
This movie is awesome, love the way they period and the pos joke awesome
I would have given a +1 if they had actually shown the clips from the movie, rather than showing a small piece and cutting it off. It was a good movie and those scenes they talked about on this video were really good.

Wish there was this much attention on the script when it came to the abysmal villain for the movie.
Florence is literally so beautiful- I can’t 🥺
Bloody brilliant film.
I didn’t plan on seeing this movie until I saw cut scenes only about Florence Pugh.
I also like the one he was told his daughter about his father peeing on his hands because his hands were nearly frozen with frost bite after dipping in a frozen lake lol
I was hoping you was going to include the funniest line from the film from Pugh where she matter of fact said the line in a nonchalant way ' oh and I was gonna talk about fallopian tubes' in context of the scene this was hilarious.
