Florence Pugh is spectacular in pretty much everything she does. The Oppenheimer movie was excellent. I saw it last night and every actor played their part amazingly well. Cillian Murphy became the man himself.

I thought it was funny that he was talking about accents because Toni Collette has the BEST American accent. I literally didn't know she was Australian until last year and I've been watching her movies since the late 90s.
@KristineL1026 r my $, Hugh Laurie dors the best American accent by a non-American. Emily does a pretty good one too. No doubt it helps to have an American spouse and kids. As far as regional English accepts goes, I like Jodue Comer's real accent. I say real accent because she's *very* good at then. And Jodie Whittaker's.

I can't believe there's any scenario where I wouldn't recognize Matt Damon. It makes sense walking in NYC because no one makes eye contact, but if I looked at him, ball cap or not, I would recognize him. I ran into Kevin Jonas at the doctor's office once. He was coming in and I was going out and we were holding the door for each other. I looked at his face and kind of gasped. (It wasn't my finest moment. 🤦♀) But then I thought, "Now you have to say something," so I just said, "I'm a big fan." He was very nice. The funny part is that I'm not really a big fan, I don't listen to the Jonas brothers, but I couldn't just leave after the gasp. Imagine someone looking at you, acting really shocked, and then just walking away without saying a word. 🤣

As a person who was born, raised and still lives in NY it's not that we don't make eye contact it's that we don't care. A "star" is just another person living their life like anyone else.

She’s amazing. I really liked her in Little Women and Oppenheimer. She also seems to be very nice as a person. But man, I can’t bring myself to watch Midsommar haha. I’m afraid it’ll be too much for me
@@katetempleton9669 Midsommar is a very unique movie with a dark undertone, but you've never seen so many flowers on a screen for 2 hours like this! It's a very emotional ride because of Florence's character and it's absolutely worth it. Expect to be baffled by the end, but it's not scary. It's strange, green, unsettling and full of flowers. There's nothing like it. She shines in Midsommar.

Gary Oldman should go down in history as one of the best actors to ever do it. There have been so many movies of his where I didn't realize he was actually the actor playing the character even though he's not hidden beneath makeup or special effects. I mean, it's clearly him, but it just doesn't register because he's playing the part so well. Then sometime later I'll see the cast of a movie and be "Gary Oldman was in that? Who's he play? Oh, just one of the main characters. How did I not notice that?"
Totally agree! He's my favorite actor. When I see a movie he's in, I never see the actor but always character. A lot of other actors I see them.
@@ludwigvanzappa9548 I think I've finally figured out why I don't realize it's him I'm watching; how he changes his voice. He does more with it than just different accents. Watching clips of various movies he's in, he can sound wildly different from character to character. Where other actors even if they're hidden behind makeup and doing an accent, you still easily recognize their voice.

My only criticism was of the character of Jean Tatlock where almost all of her scenes involved nudity and sex. In fact she had gone to medical school and was a psychiatrist. I wish those nude scenes were not included but had reflected her as the highly achieved person that she really was and not just a nymph. Plus Matt Damon was terribly miscast. The real life guy was so much taller and heavier than Matt.

Thank lord we are past pandemic era cause the Graham Norton shows with the distanced chairs back then and as a result the cameras switching so quick to try and still capture the guests reactions as much as was possible really was rubbish and sucked out the essence of how enjoyable the show normally actually is.

Oppenheimer is the best movie I’ve ever seen - 3 hrs of complete immersion. So many incredible performances. That said, I love Gary Oldman but his American accent is, and always has been, rubbish.
Him and Ralph Fiennes can't clear that bar. Amazing actors otherwise.
I've never thought that about him. The accents have always been amazing in whatever he's done. So much so that I was convinced he was American. Each to their own I guess.
I believe Truman had a bit of a Southern accent though anyway, not a General American.

No I too believe he has a very believable American accent. Also any other accent he wants. Part of the reason I believe he and other actors who are good at accents, get it so right, is because they have musical backgrounds, so they a better ear. A musical ear so to speak.
